That phone looks great. It was just the size that scares me a little(geeze, where have I heard that before!) But maybe after using it for a while it wouldn't matter. I know a lot of places sold out of them. My brother uses BB's for a long time as well.

Wanted to wait a week before posting anything on this phone. I think like any device of this kind you need to use it for a while to get a true feel of it. To work out any differences from a previous phone. First off, keep in mind that I'm upgrading from the very first Google/Android phone the G1 which seems absolutely ancient compared to this new one. I guess this is due, in part, to the G1 software capped at 1.6 and this has Eclair 2.1 So some of the things I'm thrilled about, may be standard fare on other devices. Some general impressions. This thing is very, very fast. Absolutely no lag while scrolling with your finger on the screen. Starting apps is also very smooth and equally as fast. The 1ghz processor they are putting in new phones now really shows. Next, the most obvious thing is the 4" SuperAMOLED screen. I was considering leaving T-Mobile for the Droid X but to me the 4.3" screen on that phone made it just too large. I checked one out at Best Buy. The Galaxy seems to be the perfect size without being kind of cumbersome. But the best thing is the image. My phone came pre loaded with the complete version of "Avatar". Now imho it sucked ass as a movie but there is no arguing that it looked awesome. I really didn't think a portable device was capable of such a great HD picture. I thought for sure there would be some pixalation or blurring of some kind. No way. It simply blew me away the first time I started it up. Now I can't wait to get a decent flick on my phone. We have a digital copy of "Hot Tub Time Machine" we got with our blu ray copy I might see if I can load that on. Not sure if I can though. Anyway nuff said about the screen. This phone is also very lite. It has a 1/2" bigger screen than the Iphone4 and slightly larger overall size but it's 17grams lighter. Since I'm on the hardware I guess the next thing would be the camera. For me, I think its convenient to have a camera on my phone for the odd shot that comes up that I need in a hurry. If I know I'm going to be taking some pics ahead of time I just take my point and shoot Canon. 5megapixel camera seems to do the job for what I would use it for but for those who really use it there is no flash on this phone. However, the pics I have taken seem just fine. The battery life is pretty much to be expected in a smart phone. I haven't found it a problem yet as I can plug it in at work if I have to. I actually thought it was going to be much worse than my G1 considering the extra hp and big screen but it doesn't seem that way. Even so, I'm going to get a extra battery to switch out on long trips/days. Now for some software stuff. The notification bar at the top has always been a nice feature but I really like the few important functions they have added to it. There is a WiFi, Bluetooth,GPS, and Silent Mode toggle in addition to the usual email, text and voice mail notifications. Really handy. Another thing which they have added is there are now SEVEN home screens instead of the kinda 1 1/2 on the g1. So with just a quick swipe you can go to another home screen with more app wigets. This just gives a bit quicker access to them. Speaking of swipe. They have a feature called Swype. When you are typing a message you can just slide your finger across the virtual keyboard over every key you need to type the word. Don't have to press every key. I was skeptical at first until I tried it. Hard to explain so is a look at it. The more I use it the more I like it. I can go on and on because there are so many neat touches to this phone like Live Wallpaper. Just wallpaper with movement. For example the one I'm using now is a weather one. The sun has glowing, moving flames coming off of it. Sun moves across the screen during the course of the day. Will rain when it rains. So thats my half assed review. I would recommend this phone to anyone. AT@T, Sprint and Verizon all have slightly different flavors for the same phone. Pros -Great Screen -Super Fast -Nice size. Not a brick -Android Software Maturing. Nice Touches -Lots of apps available. Over 90,0000 now I read somewhere -Still seamless integration with all Google apps. Heck, even my Picasa photos were shown in the Gallery -2.2 Froyo update coming soon! Cons -Wake/Power button is on the top right now. On my G1 it is on the bottom where you can press it with your thumb with one hand. Now, being on the top right, kinda need two hands. -Had trouble at first downloading phone book to Ford Sync. It also wasn't very accurate recognition. I reset the Ford Sync to factory and paired the phone again and re downloaded the phone book. All is fine now. -DIRECTV app doesn't work right now!! -Doesn't give me winning lotto numbers!

No. It means "I am not a human but a lemming led by the media and I get all my insight from SNL and John Stewart" kinda thing. -

Got the T-Mobile version Vibrant last week. Screen is unbelievable. -
Maybe we can let them look after the interstates. They can use criminal inmates for grunt labor and contract out the management/engineering end of it. I want no government official actually thinking or imputing on how the work should be done. Even this scenario has the potential for corruption but I guess we have to throw them a bone.

What comes to mind when you hear the word "conner"?
Dante replied to KD in CA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Sympathy. I think he might be a good guy. His problem is he has been twisted out of shape by a liberal misguided education system. This might have been reinforced by a socialist point of view upbringing by his parents. This I don't know but I would guess probable given his unflappable tunnel vision. Also he may also be too young to know better. I don't hate or even dislike him. I feel bad that he knows nothing else except defend a bankrupt agenda. I think if he grew up around self employed achievers. Hard working creative people that were to busy furthering themselves to be concerned with bring people down a common, mediocre level. This kind of influence might have instilled him with a better attitude. -
Oakland bracing itself for possible riots

And why would it? But people realize they can push cops far because the police have been neutered by the threat of racism and police brutality charges. Aholes can just cry foul if the police do anything. -
Slow, slow news day. Lets create another evil out there to protect our kiddies from

Al Franken voted in by illegal felons?
Dante replied to Fezmid's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I knew there had to be some explanation for that retard to get elected. -
You didn't read my post. I said they were a necessary evil. Just like our business here needs a front office to take care of administrative duties. But they are non productive. They are an expense and thus should be as cheap and lean as possible but I never said eliminated. Generally, they are relatively unskilled as our production people and are expendable and easier to replace. Market value kicking in, unskilled types should be paid lower than private, and public for that matter, tradesman and so on. I'm thinking like, bus drivers should not make that much more than minimum for example.

Yes it is true. All the positions that you listed are expenses. They are non productive because they don't bring money into the economy they consume it. Much like a business that employ's secretaries and other administrative people, they are a necessary evil. Just like a business this portion of a company should be as lean as possible. The less admin staff you have the greater the profit. Also, those resources can be put back into the production side of the company in the form of wages and capitol investment like equipment and so on. Better for the company all around. Country would(or should) work the same way

I think about this a lot. We were brought up to think going to University was the only way to go. Learning a trade was never an option. How dumb. I know a fair amount of tradesmen and like everyone else, things aren't as great as they were a few years ago. But stuff still breaks, and people need it fixed. Whether its something that has to be welded, repainted, rewired and so on. Also, in rough times people repair instead of buying new. A couple are only limited by how many hours they want to work. I dont think you will never go hungry if you have a trade. Someone somewhere can use you. I have a friend out of Louisiana who is a welder and he goes on these 2 month long work excursions at refineries for the most part. He comes back off these work trips with huge bucks. Not for everyone as he works 7 days a week and I think most days 12 hours. There is a mandatory rest day at some point cant remember when that is. Anyway, point is there are options when you have a skill and are in demand. Can't say as much for executives and administrative types. They are the first to go when it gets tough and what do they do when no companies are hiring for high priced positions?

I may be looking at this too simply, but wi-fi is basically broadcasting over the air. If you don't encrypt its kinda your fault.

Thanks for adding the 3rd option as thats what I as going to say after reading the thread title.

Get a trade. Always have work. Lots of opportunity to work for cash. That way, you can keep it instead of the government confiscating it

What comes to mind when you hear the word Obama?
Dante replied to Hossage's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
First thing that comes too mind is incompetent. And then it makes me think he should change his name to Nobama -
Who do we blame for forcing the oil companies out into such deep water? If Bush was so cozy then he would have let them drill wherever they wanted. Like in Alaska or shallow water where it would be cheaper and less trouble. Environmental whack jobs forced them out there now its time to be accountable for that brilliant idea

As a objective consumer I do get a certain satisfaction knowing I have a superior product to 90% of the clones out there. Never have really thought that popularity was synonymous with quality. Not saying Ipod and Itunes aren't decent. But kinda bland. You can have it As far as Nintendo, Sega Coleco? They didn't have the online infrastructure supporting it like XBox does with Live. If Microsoft does get overtaken by some other outfit(and for sure it could happen) I don't think it will happen any time soon. Certainly not going to be a "fleeting" dominance by Microsoft. -
White House: "We are not anti-business"
Dante replied to Magox's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think people have been trained to think that its one side or the other. They can't or won't think out of that box. As long as "my side beats your side I win" Truth is neither is the answer. Need a true conservative. If they emerge from outside one of the established parties, fat chance getting elected. -
"Mr Fernandes has expressed regret that the allegations could damage his chances of playing for Brazil in the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals." Least of his problems right now isn't it?
-
It's not like that here anymore? When I was going back and forth for my immigration thing I had to have a return ticket or no way I was getting in. They even checked with my employer in Canada when I was still there to make sure I wasn't coming down to work. Ten years ago Anyway, my nephew spent 6months to a year(can't remember exactly how long) going through South America with his girlfriend. I know by the time he got back she wasn't his girlfriend any more.
-
Now thats funny. I kinda lump all these types, like fortune tellers and psychics together. I think they came about in a time of major unemployment. Trying to think of a way to make a buck. No job so why not think up a line of **** for people to buy? Good setup because there is no capitol investment. No real employees to worry about. No inventory that you have to move to make money. No government regulations like air quality, labor boards and so on up you butt. Nice gig.

I love the verbage. "Working out" A little more than that I would think with total sales of Live being over 1 Billion this year. http://www.reelseo.com/video-pushes-xbox-live-sales/ Anyway, I can never understand the fan boy mentality when it comes to commercial companies. I think its great Apple brought out a great product in the iphone. It really has given the other manufacturers a kick in the ass. Some great Android phones coming out now and according to some, Apple is now in a position of catch up. And this is a good thing because now Apple has to rethink a little and the next phone from them might be the best thing ever. For me the only thing that makes me resent Apple is not the company itself but the annoying smugness of their customers aka fanboys. Zune a bust? Perhaps, as far as market share goes. But I'll never go back too Apple Itunes. Elegant software, Zune Pass is the only way to go. I will say one thing, Microsoft really ought to take a look at their marketing strategy to get the good products out there.
