  1. Before the earthquake, it wasn't. But $100m now is definitely a drop in the bucket.
  2. Your stupid uncalled-for personal attack highlights why my tagline is still relevant. Go pee up a rope.
  3. So obviously our problem, Bills fans, is that the comparative success of Levy and Ground Chuck ruined our team's otherwise splendid record of medocrity. Those handful of good years made us think, somehow, that the Bills could actually run with the big dogs. My philosphy was always "I don't care if we're 2-14, as long as the 2 is Miami"...and every win was treasured because it was so rare. I guess what we need to do is to remember that the lower the bar, the easier to step over it. Right now, Chan Gailey comes to us with a "winning" record as an NFL head coach, which is something we have not had in a LONG time. But, still. Chan Gailey.
  4. By September 5, 2005, the feds had approved $62 billion for New Orleans. Search as I might, I didn't find anyone screaming about doing that without asking taxpayers. $100m is really a token amount.
  5. I have club seats and those come with a contract ... I think I have another year. Yuck.
  6. Jim Fassel? Even he would be better. You look at all the proven coaches out there...why didn't they talk to Billick? Fassel? Green? Marty Schottenheimer? Vermeil? Mike Martz? Mooch? Herm Edwards? CHAN GAILEY>
  7. Chan Gailey was the perfect coach for Dallas - he did whatever Jerry told him to.
  8. FINALLY! Something Nanook of the North and I can agree on! I loved every second of the game. And am really looking forward next to the Saints' crushing of the Vikings. And it was also kinda neat to see Phillip Rivers put into his place. Maybe he finally shut up. I am waiting for Norv Turner to be fired. Taking nothing away from the Jets, but there were stupid penalties, dumb play calling and bad clock management on the Charger side. That's coaching. Yeah the players bear their share of responsibility, but it doesn't look like they took advantage of their prep time, and when the Jets refused to lie down and die they fell apart. That's coaching.
  9. CHAN GAILEY. OMG. Great. And we could take Dave Campo along with him. They were both SO good with the Cowboys.
  10. Not much different than the tsunami in that respect. You can get the people and supplies THERE but to deploy them to the point of need unfortunately takes time.
  11. I usually donate to Worldvision and Doctors without Borders. Red Cross siphons off too much for "overhead" etc. This time around Worldvision got my $$.
  12. Hurricane Katrina was a judgement on New Orleans, and those pitiful poor schmucks (who had nothing BEFORE and have minus-nothing NOW) in Haiti are to blame for the earthquake. "Christian"? Yeh right. Faugh, burn in hell you hypocrite.
  13. You have my sympathy - sincerely - but I gotta tell you, the story probably has some commercial value. Write a book or turn it into a screenplay and you may have a hit on your hands. It's very human and a lot of people could relate to it. Seriously.
  14. This gives me yet another opportunity to recommend "Kingsblood Royal" by Sinclair Lewis. I agree Reid's words were ill-chosen. Yet, if the truth be told...he was stating the obvious. Obama is light-skinned, and in America there are still people (who'd never admit it) who are offended by folks with coal-black skin. Obama also knows how to speak like an educated man, which he is. Yet, he can lapse into certain "vernacular" (is that the right word?) when he thinks it's appropriate. So Reid's thinking was "if America is ever going to have a black president, THIS man could be it, for these reasons". Lott's statement expressed HIS thoughts that if Strom Thurmond had been president we'd never have to worry about a black guy ever being president. If the GOP ever admits why Sarah Palin was chosen for Veep (she's "hot" and shoots guns for fun) will you freak out over that too? It's just as insensitive...and just as true. Get on with it.
  15. So something that was said in 2008 is all the wingnuts have to freak out over? I guess Reid coulda said "ebonics"? If he was commenting about someone from Texas who could "drawl" to the Texans and lose the accent in speaking to the rest of us...would it still be an insult? Fact is when I lived in Dallas more than one person commented on my drawl, which I didn't use elsewhere unless it suited me. Whoop de doo. On the other hand I guess I COULD have been really insulted if someone called me Texan. Yawn.
  16. I knew we were at war....something about all those dead soldiers and stuff. So when Obama said it, I wasn't surprised. Where have YOU been?
  17. And Sarah Palin is qualified to be POTUS too! Republicans think Americans are stupid, that's all. Nothing new here.
  18. A real Bills fan roots for the Cowboys to spontaneously self-combust. Ralph will hire a dope head coach and incompetent QB on his own, completely independent of what the Cowboys do.
  19. Understanding w/Carroll was reached before Mora was fired. Seahawks are doomed to continued mediocrity. So now I have no hope for either my east or west coast teams.
  20. What's all the fuss about? Does anyone REALLY think Ralph gives a rat's behind what we think about who he should hire? So root for Cowher, Billick, whoever, if it floats your boat. Cuz it's Ralph's team and Ralph's money and he'll do whatever he wants. When you look at the last 50 years, he's hired more duds than not. C'est la vie.
  21. nnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
  22. Lynch is done in Buffalo. Send him back to his criminal buddies in CA (and he can take his lawsuits with him).
  23. I would love to get McNabb
  24. I renewed mine on the web and it showed up 5 days later. I think the issue was not that you were renewing a licence. It sounds like your son HAS a license, in another state, and was trying to get a new license in Florida? Horrors! Not that it makes the process any less idiotic. How very disgusting that the Department of Homeland Security, instituted circa 2002, is already a mess. Hardly surprising though. The nature of what they're trying to do is something like herding cats; every time you figure out how to head off a bad guy, another one comes along with a different approach and ya gotta deal with THAT. "Adaptability" is not high on a list of *any* governmental agency's list of attributes. This isn't a political issue, although the usual cast of clowns are trying to make it so. That said - I would contact have your son contact the local Congresscritter for assistance. My brother's done that with great success.
