  1. Dumber than a bag of hammers. Remember a RB named Anthony Gray a few years back ? Tore it up early in pre-season. Then was cut before opening day. He couldn't remember the plays. There is an 8 man practice squad to be picked next week. Who knows ? Maybe they can give him a Playbook in Phonix form. Give him a year to figure out the pictures.
  2. Then all the Pats DB's should have been there...
  3. They were together today and took lots of reps. Worked mainly on execution... Mostly run plays. Jennings was moving well.
  4. Vincent just took it to Evans hard within the 1st 5 yards of each rep. Evans had to work his backside off to get past and break away. He would try multiple moves, both inside and out. All different types of fakes. Vincent showed perfect form and would stay on him. They left it all on the field . I loved watching that.
  5. The Ascot and Courvoisier party for the Upper Crust. Premium Seat Luncheon. Annual event.
  6. Attended a lucheon at the stadium. Shortly after, Lancaster Steve, Jack , Jay and myself went outside and watched the Bills practice for 90 minutes. No Kickers in sight. Lots of 11-11 drills for 1st,2nd,3rd stringers. Shoulder pads and shorts. Bledsoe threw some but Zolman and Matthews got most of the work. A prelude to Thursday, little doubt. Zolman told Jack Monday night , at the benefit dinner, that Bledsoe would be pulled early in the 1st Quarter and he would be getting a lot of snaps. The Matthews signing was announced about the same time. Anyhow, they seemed to be working on a lot of 3 step drops and quick passes. Moulds caught a lot of passes. The RB's were catching many swing passes. A few to the TE's. Saw some Willis runs but Simonton and Shaud Williams carried the bulk of the time. Nice to see the starting 5 on the OL together, finally. Worked on execution of different running plays. Shelton was still the lead FB. Highlights: 1. Bledsoe threw a perfect long sideline pass ( about 40 yards) to Moulds, with Clements all over him. Pass was just perfect. Great catch. 2. Zolman made a nice throw to Ryan Nuefeld on a 20 yard slant. He split the secondary and took it in, getting a good pop from the small crowd. 3. The more I watch Simonton, the more I like him. He is so quick to the hole and really can turn the corner, which he displayed a couple times. I wish they used him more. Has soft hands out of the backfield. 4. Tim Anderson and Sullivan got into a fight after a play. They really went at it for about 10 seconds. The coaches made them shake after they calmed down. Anderson is one tough bastard. 5. Matthews - rusty , as expected. Tended to sail his longer passes ( high ) , later in the practice. Hit the short stuff. Too early to say anything about him. Tall and thin. Wearing #6... 6-3 200lbs. Probably is overwhelmed right now. 6. Clements made several nice plays on good throws. Timed his break perfectly and came flying to knock the ball down. Stood out. 7. No Special Teams work at all. 8. Units broke up for some individual work and then practice ended. One cool note. All the players left the field at the end.. except 2..Troy Vincent and Lee Evans. For about 10 minutes, they practice at midfield, all by themselves. Vincent was schooling Evans on how to get off the line of scrimmage. Vincent would bark and Evans would break. Vincent would really work him over the first 5 yards, then let him go. Must have done 50 reps. After each rep, Vincent would stop to give Evans instruction and go over technique. You could see Evans trying all different moves. Vincent covered him like a blanket and really made him work. Finally they left the field after running hard for about 50 yards. Applause from the crowd was well deserved. Putting in the extra time. The Vet helping the prized Rookie. Enjoyed seeing that. Then we were able to go down on the field and walk around for a while. Bills gave each of us a foldout picnic Bills chair with the cupholder. Very nice. Weather was sunny and in the high 70's. Great day to hang out at the Stadium. We ate well, to say the least. Drank tons of water. Always great hanging out with your friends at the stadium, without a worry in the world...life should be like that more often...
  7. I wish that said " Until Travis is ready to go away ..." I still think Matthews is already better than Brown...and he probably knows 5 plays, as of now...
  8. Al Bemiller or Jim Cheyunski ?
  9. I agree. Despite all the nice things written about him, I cannot understand what the Bills see in Travis Brown. Matthews has been here 10 minutes and is already an upgrade.
  10. Agreed. I would much rather see them put Nuefeld back there as an H-Back. He can flat out block. Keep the kid Lawton, who has shown some nice blocks and has the soft hands for the swing pass. Shelton does little for me.
  11. I think I was on a Swift boat once....no wait...I can't recall...
  12. Now Jeff Morrison is saying Matthews just signed. Sorry about that.
  13. Damn Murphy. Channel 7 is supposedly the official station of the Bills. They don't even know whats going on. Go chase a fire, Channel 7....
  14. Just watched local Sports with Murphy. Showed Matthews walking around in the drizzle, wearing a Bills jacket, watching practice at the Ralph. They plan on having someone by tomorrow but Matthews hasn't signed as of yet, according to Murphy . I guess TD is still talking to teams through tonight, before settling on Matthews.
  15. I'm an insider. I know how to scale walls and not be caught. Afternoon luncheon in the Maguire Club. We can stick around and watch practice.
  16. Matthews was at practice today, watching. Looks like tomorrow he'll be throwing. I'll tell you how he looks, since I'll be at the stadium tomorrow, watching the afternoon session.
  17. I'm dissapointed over the fact that 3 of the 5 starters ( Smith, Chris V. , Jennings ) plus Marcus Price, have been fighting minor injuries. That just kills the rhythm needed to get the Offense going. Throw in Henry nursing an injury and it's been very frustrating. Teague has definitely improved. Smith is good, not great. Same with Chris V. Mike Williams had a good game Saturday. His run blocking was very good. Looks to be trimmer. Jennings and Price must mend. I saw some holes Saturday that Travis would have shot thru. MaGahee just glided thru them, lacking the burst. I'm hardly an apologist type for anyone on this team. I couldn't trash Bledsoe enough last year for losing his poise at times. He looks much improved. I think our Coaching staff is much better, McNally included. But they will have to prove it against the Jags by putting the ball in the endzone. Until then, I refuse to take a negative view, since we need to see our starters together and what the playcalling will actually be. With a new Coaching staff, thats a complete mystery. It's been rather bland in pre-season, which is typical. I won't draw any real conclusions until then.

  19. While reading this masterpiece, I'm picturing Stuart Scott on ESPN Sportcenter as the narrator. He'd love this. You forgot to say BOOYA !
  20. It was a Whine festival, to say the least. All Saturday night and Sunday. Self Loathing everywhere. Dozens have already written off 2004 and shout down anyone who differs.
  21. Bullseye . Schobel also had twice as many sacks as Jason Taylor. Who would you rather have ? Schobel gets blown out on most run sweeps to his side of the field. Misleading stats = RJ
  22. Shaud Williams is listed at 5-7. Probably is even shorter. Simonton is 5-9. Both are twice as fast as #21. Maybe they'll both make it.
  23. I don't wish to see us in obvious passing situations all the time. Thus the jailbreak blitz with a QB who wears Granny shoes. A negative play for us. I like the 3 step drop and the quick out for 5-7 yards...or the quick swing pass. Sets up the long ones to the WR's. Didn't mean to suggest we should only throw 10 times a game . Play within yourselves and to your strengths...which is THE RUN. That philosophy protects your QB and cuts down on mistakes.
