  1. It's not puzzling to me. Hill has not shown he's a consistently reliable receiver. He just does not have enough catches and, because of that, is a big risk in the first round. Don't get hung up on a guy just because he ran fast. If you want a tall receiver that can catch the ball in the end zone like Moss, Plaxico, and Johnson, draft the 6'6", 250 lb. Fleener.
  2. I share your concern. Floyd went to ND and seems to be a big time player. But this draft appears to have a lot of receivers, i.e., Stephen Hill, Kendall Wright, Rueben Randal (a player that I've heard the Bills like and might be there in the 2nd.), Alshon Jeffrey, Mohamed Senu, Brian Quick, Nick Toon, Marvin Jones (a player I like), Chris Givens (very fast), and Joe Adams to list just a few. Buffalo is looking for a 2nd. receiver (second to Stevie). Do you take a 2nd. receiver at #10? Buddy said we need linebackers and will draft probably two. I would not be unhappy in we took one at #10.
  3. Although Buddy may want to trade down, IMO, he won't be able to find a trading partner. Buddy hates to give up draft picks. News flash; so do other GMs. The only way he might be able to trade down is if he offers to do it at a rather insignificant price,i.e., Buffalo moves down from 10 to, say 18, and asks for only a 4th. round pick to do so. Would you be happy with that trade?
  4. Completely agree. Mayock loves Rieff's toughness but said he's a + or - 20 and Martin should be in the 20 to 30 range. If you look at Martin; he has thin arms and the experts say he is not a strong run blocker and may never be a strong run blocker. Mayock, based on football ability, would select DeCastro before Rieff or Martin. Chris Brown pointed out, yesterday, that Buddy has never selected an offensive lineman in the first round even when he was at San Diego. Looks like the 10th. selection will not be an offensive lineman. Receiver or linebacker? The NFL Network is doing a state of the Bills Monday and some are whispering Kuechly, Kuechly, Kuechly.
  5. Some of you like Floyd in the 1st. OK. How would you feel about Fleener in the 2nd? Fleener had his pro day yesterday and, at 6'6", 250 lbs., ran a 4.5 40. Mayock hand timed him in under 4.5. For comparison, Gronkowski ran a 4.68 at 6'6" and 268 lbs. How would Buffalo's O look with Floyd and Fleener as 1 & 2. Buffalo, though, would have to bypass linebacker and OT in the first two rounds to do this. Any thoughts?
  6. No you can't. Try it. Name the players in this years draft that will be selected in the first four rounds and lets all see how you do with that. Last year Buddy selected Dareus, Williams, Sheppard, and Hairston in the first four rounds. The first three are going into their second years as starters. The fourth is a potential starter. Go ahead big talker. Try it. If you do, I'll be watching who the Bills pick and begin a thread comparing the Bills' pick to yours. After the 2012 season, I'll revisit your selections, again compare them to Buddy's, and we'll all see how your picks stack up. Are you up for this Mathews' Bag?
  7. The President has a four year roster guarantee.
  8. I like Floyd and would be happy with his selection. But offering to eat my hat if he is not selected? No. Wouldn't do that.
  9. So; Buddy's doing to select the best player available who's not really the best player available? I really love some of you guys. Do you recall the problems Buffalo had last year when Wood was injured? This was Wood's second major injury. Is he injury prone? Don't you like the idea of DeCastro at RG with Urbik as a backup? If Wood gets injured again, Urbik moves to center and Buffalo doesn't miss a beat. There's real "value" in picking DeCastro in my opinion. No. It just shows you're wrong about selecting guards in the top ten.
  10. John Hanna was the 4th overall pick in the 1973 NFL draft by the N.E. Patriots. He was a 10 time all pro and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.
  11. What does "best player available" really mean then? Not necessary to do that if Buddy believes in Hairston.
  12. OK. Let's say Buffalo can't find a trading partner to trade down. Who, then, would you select @10? Looking at mock drafts, every player after the top five can be badly criticized over something except DeCastro and Buffalo must get a winner at 10. Recall that Buffalo had Jackson and Seattle what's his name, (having a senior moment), when they selected C.J.? It's Buddy's style.
  13. Tackle? Probably not. He's an inside guy and could play center. But he looks like one of the few cant's miss guys in this draft.
  14. Buffalo will select DeCastro at #10. He's the best offensive lineman in the draft and BPA at pick 10 without a doubt. It's Buddy's style. I know; what about LT? I don't like what I read about Reiff and Martin. Specifically; Reiff is a RT. Martin is a finesse blocker. Additionally, I don't think Buddy would select a LT at 10 if he really believes Buffalo already has one (Hairston). So; it's DeCastro. In the 2nd. round? How about Ronnell Lewis, OLB from Oklahoma. A starter at ROLB from day one.
  15. Floyd is bigger and faster and is much better running after the catch. Jeffery tend to get sloppy and out of shape and has trouble separating. Floyd had problems with alcohol abuse but he checked into the freshmen's dorm as a senior. Apparently the freshmen's dorm is restrictive regarding when students are expected to be in their rooms. He did this voluntarily in a sincere effort to get his life back in order. He should be given great credit for this in my opinion and I am not concerned about character issues with Floyd in the future.
  16. Not necessarily. The Bills have made Bell an offer which he, apparently, was not satisfied with. He had a visit with Arizona but Arizona just resigned Levi Brown. Bell may learn he's not the hot commodity he thinks he is and take the Bills' offer which , I think, is still on the table.
  17. You want to go into the season with a hope and a prayer that maybe someone can play RDE? Buddy thinks Chris Hairston will be a very good LT but he needs some grooming. D. Bell would give us a year or two to groom Hairston. Meanwhile, after getting Mercilus or Branch in the first, Buffalo drafts that fast stud from Ga. Tech in the second. Would that be good for you?
  18. I'm not sure we're finished with the D. Mario prefers to play Left DE. That puts Kelsay on the sideline. Who will be our right DE? Jim Kelly seems to think it's Merriman but, with his health history, he can't be considred reliable. Buffalo still needs to find a capable RDE in my opinion. Buffalo needs to resign D. Bell, trade down in Rd 1 and select a Mercilus or Andre Branch for RDE. With those moves, our D will have been rebuilt.
  19. Lv-Bills; please excuse an ignorant question but what is a Bills Mobile App and where can I get one?
  20. I'm not sure I like Curry in the 2nd. Compare him to Andre Branch. Branch is one inch taller at 6'4", 260 lbs., ran a 4.7 40, and played for Clemson, a major school. Curry is 6'3, ran a 4.95 40 and played for Marshall. I like Russell Wilson in the 5th. I don't care if he's 5'11". He throws a beautiful ball while rolling out and would be a great change of pace QB. Love Floyd at #10.
  21. Kalif, Reiff, and Martin are all top ten worthy selections. Selecting any one of them would not be a reach by any stretch. But I would not be surprised and quite happy if Buffalo's selection is Michael Floyd, the WR from ND and, I think, the best WR in this draft.
  22. Mayock said Kuechly is the most instinctive drop back into coverage LB he has ever seen.
  23. That's why he's the consensus #1 DT in a large class of good DTs.
  24. Quite a bit actually. He played DT at LSU. Hard to rush from that position with double team blocking and bodies at your feet. If you're a Bama fan, tell me, how successful was Bama with Richardson in the backfield, running at Brockers? If you missed Brockers flushing the Bama QB from the pocket, you really didn't see the game. Nearly every expert out there has Brockers as a high first round selection. Mayock, who loves the DTs in this draft, has Brockers as his top rated DT. If you've watched a lot of Bama football you should have seen Brockers' ability to shed blocks or maybe you were just following the ball and not focused on interior line play? His speed, brute strength, and movement skills, ability to shed, one on one with an OT, would be something to see, I think. He's expected to run a 4.9 at 308 lbs. at Indi. A bull rush works for me if it gets you to the QB. But Brockers is much more than a bull rusher.
  25. Who stated the Brockers hype? The guys who evaluate football talent, I think. If you watched the NFL Network last night, you would have seen Brockers penetrate O-linemen, time after time, causing QBs to scramble for their lives. I think he can be a pass rusher. He seems to be quick and strong on his feet. He played DT at LSU. He certainly would fortify Buffalo's run D. Brockers, I think, will end up being a higher rated player than any of the available DEs in this draft. If you want value at #10, you select Brackers over Coples, Ingram, Upshaw, or any of the others. If the Bills think he can play DE, it's a no brainer. Problem is, he is such a fast riser, he likely won't be there at #10. Do yourself a favor. Watch some film on Brockers.
