  1. How so? One is playing extremely well as a rookie and is devastated at one of his few poor plays, vowing to perfect his craft. The other is struggling but seems to think a 3-2 record is just dandy and only hears criticism because of prejudice.
  2. Compare these quotes from White to our starting quarterback's... “Man, we’re a couple plays away from being 5-0,” he says, smiling again. “So, why would I listen to the negative stuff?”
  3. This kid is definitely a process addict.
  4. What are you talking about? We just signed Deonte Thompson!
  5. Let's hope he doesn't develop into a Hall of Famer or something.
  6. Deonte Thompson, now Seamster. Bringing the old band back together!
  7. This isn't college. Tyrod wouldn't last two games.
  8. The Tyrod Taylor Troupe would all be posting in this thread defending him to the death but they're busy attacking Benoit right now, probably.
  9. One of my all-time favorite players at Syracuse. The ultimate villain but a great, loyal teammate.
  10. Tyrod would be held to a lower standard if this was true, as already stated in this thread.
  11. So you wanted them to go through the season without an offensive coordinator? Just let the players run Roman's and Lynn's offense by memory?
  12. This thread title typo ('...better the Tyrod') bothers me more every time I see it bumped on the front page.
  13. At the time, Taylor was running the best system possible for a running quarterback with limited passing skills. In fact, Roman's system that he installed in Buffalo may be the only NFL offensive system that could result in adequate production with a passing-challenged quarterback like Taylor. This season has been a bit of a perfect storm: the Shanahan system that is the foundation of what Dennison does requires an NFL quarterback that can pass the ball well. That combined with an offensive line taking time acclimating to a new blocking scheme, a slight downgrade at receiver, and the development of Taylor as a pocket passer (no read-option) has resulted in an offense that has fallen from #10 in DVOA efficiency in 2016 to a current ranking of 23rd (rushing offense from #1 to #28).
  14. Very well-stated, rational post. Thanks.
  15. By the end of the first weekend in January 2018, the Patriots will have won the division by six games and three of the four division teams will have losing records.
  16. A few more stats you left out by mistake... Sack Percentage: 11. Bortles - 5.6 14. Flacco - 6.1 20. Hoyer - 7.2 32. Taylor - 11.7 Passing yards per game: 24. Hoyer - 207.5 28. Taylor - 182.0 29. Bortles - 178.0 32. Flacco - 167.2 Touchdowns: T14. Bortles - 8 T23. Taylor - 6 T27. Flacco - 4 T27. Hoyer - 4
  17. Tough to blame McDermott for this. It was Roman's system, yet Roman was already fired. You really think Roman was coming back here to be the OC again after getting fired four months prior? Anthony Lynn landed a HC job with the Chargers. So obviously he was off the table. I guess they could have promoted Kromer to OC but maybe McDermott didn't feel comfortable giving a grown man who throws lawn chairs at kids a big role on his coaching staff.
  18. If he's requesting a trade from the Steelers then that's already a red flag.
  19. I'm not going to pretend that racism doesn't exist because obviously it does. Like Chris Rock said, "America to black people is the uncle that paid for your college education...but molested you when you were growing up." To deny the mistreatment of minorities in the US is to be delusional. However, in this specific instance, I simply don't agree with Tyrod. I think he's making excuses for his poor play and thinking he's beyond criticism and the only reason he's hearing criticism must have something to do with factors that don't have to do with his play on the field. And I also don't appreciate your generalizations. Isn't judging individuals based on the perception of the race as a whole the backbone of racism and prejudice to begin with? If you're against racism, then why would you be making such statements as "white people are very much a race-conscious people." Can we stop with the sweeping statements?
  20. Roman's system was literally Taylor-made. Probably the only system in the NFL that could generate a sufficient offense with such a throw-challenged quarterback.
  21. Great comment to the BN article from Carl Wagner, specifically the final paragraph... There's a problem with being a couple plays away from 5-0.. Last year, they were 5 plays away from being 12-3 heading into the Jets game in week 17. Taylor couldn't make those 5 plays. In 2015, they were 3 plays away from being 10-5 heading into the Jets game in week 17. Taylor couldn't do it. It's the frustrating enigma of his era as Buffalo's QB. In his 34 starts, their biggest loss came by just 16 points. From 2007 to 2013, Buffalo lost 37 games by 10+ points, and 21 by 20+ points; averages of five 10+ point losses and three 20+ point losses per season. Compared to how bad they'd been, with quarterbacks that routinely gave them no chance to win, Tyrod's been a blessing. He's lost only four games by 10+. Recall 2011, when Fitzpatrick lost 7 straight games by an AVERAGE of 18 points.. But in 12 of his 16 losses, he had the ball in the 4th quarter trailing by 8 or fewer points and couldn't pull out a win. He is now 6-13 in games decided by 8 or fewer points. Every game where he gets the ball down by 8 or fewer points in the 4th quarter, I think, "here's his chance." I think he's sufficiently sick of losing and now he's going to make the plays winners make. But with all the missed chances to learn from, he hasn't gotten better at it. So I know what I'm getting with Tyrod. They'll either have a win mostly locked up going into the 4th, courtesy of the run game or defense, or he'll have a chance to win it in the 4th, courtesy of the run game or his defense. If it's the former, he'll always play smart enough to avoid an epic collapse or allow a comeback a la 28-3. But if it's the latter, they won't win. And thus, the enigma of Tyrod Taylor..
  22. This thread only exists because Tyrod is an African-American quarterback. You should all be ashamed.
