Thing is, the last couple of dominant run stuffers we had were a free agent acquisition who had injury concerns and an undrafted free agent. Neither were a high profile pick commanding big bonus money, yet both did their jobs fairly well. I like Ngata, but I also like a few others that I believe can do the same function (tie up blockers and free up Triplett do do more) w/out commanding top dollar. I'd rather see us get one of those guys and use our highest pick to address the pass rush, the OL, or the secondary, all areas that could badly use the upgrade.

How do we know this? The same way New Orleans knew that about Jonathan Sullivan? Then again, he went higher in the draft than Ngata would if we take him eighth overall. Sullivan went 6th.

Give it up. People are going to compare Justice to Mike Williams because of the way the Bills fared in taking an OL 4th overall. It has nothing to do w/ the two guys being similar in their style of play (they are not), but you do have to admit the comments are kinda neat, aren't they?

"Character thing" is putting it mildly. I don't consider pointing a gun @ someone or soliciting a prostitute as something minor. Those are huge red flags. Then again, maybe he's learned his lesson and will settle down, huh? Hey, I'm just trying to look @ it through the same "battered fan syndrome" glasses as his fans do. One thing for Justice to heed: he's entering the real world, where cleaning up these kind of messes are a bit more difficult away from the boosters and alunmi that shielded him in college. Just ask Sean Taylor or Jamal Lewis, for staters.

Congrats to Noah for one heck of a game. The kid really dominated inside and intimidated the entire UCLA team. Great job.

Jokeman, after his performance @ USC's pro day, I don't see a scenario where we'd be able to trade down to draft Justice, if that's the plan. We'd have to stay @ 8, more than likely. Justice has impressed me, but I still don't want him that high.

Parrish was our first pick last year, but was not a first rounder.

Tough call, BGiM. We do need big guys up front, and Lord knows I've been one of the most vocal about upgrading the lines here for years, but we also have to be wary of drafting for need. What I'm hearing from the DT-starved fans here is akin to what I heard last year about "we NEED to draft Mike Nugent". After all, he was a one of a kind placekicker and all that crap. Yeah, he sure wowed the world last year, eh? Here's what I think. If you want to draft for need, then move up and get either the best LT prospect in years (Ferguson) or the best pass rusher to come along since Peppers (Williams). That would be a bold move to upgrade the team and bring in an impact player. I know Ngata is a big guy w/ some athleticism, and I do like the guy, but people are losing sight of something w/ the whole 2 gap DT issue. Was there this much excitement and clamor over the last couple of big run stuffers we brought here (Ted Washington and Pat Williams)? Were either of these guys praised as saviors when they arrived in Buffalo, or did we have to break the bank to acquire them? Neither were taken 8th overall, were they? If the Bills do nothing more in free agency to address DT, then I guess Ngata has to be a very solid candidate w/ the 8th pick. I personally think we could target a guy like Babatunde Oshinowo of Stanford a bit later and still use our higher pick to land a quality player, whether it's on the OL (trade up for D'Brickashaw Ferguson or down for one of the interior OL like Jean-Gilles or Mangold, or trade down and take Winston), DL (trade down and get Hali, trade up for Super Mario), a skill player (like Davis) or the secondary (Huff).

Don't try to stop the rush to judgment.

You're probably right, though not about the Jets fans @ the draft being happy.

Other than Reggie Bush or D'Brickashaw Ferguson, there's NO player in this draft that I'd take over Mario Williams. None.
