FEDERAL WORKFORCE TO SHRINK BY 300,000 From The Hill newspaper, By the end of 2025, the Trump administration likely will have shed around 300,000 workers, Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told Reuters on Thursday. The mass departures, which Kupor claimed were largely accounted for by voluntary buyouts rather than firings, would constitute a 12.5 percent reduction of the federal workforce from when President Trump was inaugurated in January. That percentage is a bit of an exaggeration as the Biden Administration went on a massive hiring spree as they headed out the door. So the 12.5 percent reduction will be down from an all-time high. Othewise, it’s so much winning. Reuters had reported earlier that 154,000 workers had taken the buyout offer. Reuters also reports that there are some 2,400,000 non-military federal government workers. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2025/08/federal-workforce-to-shrink-by-300000.php

RFK In Charge of Health Care

"The swamp is in full panic mode," Kennedy said. "DC lobby shops are laboring fiercely to drive a wedge between President Trump and me, hoping to thwart our team from dismantling the status quo and advancing @POTUS' Make America Healthy Again agenda." "They're pushing the flat-out lie that I'm running for president in 2028. Let me be clear: I am not running for president in 2028. My loyalty is to President Trump and the mission we've started," he added, before he appeared to defend a longtime aide, his HHS deputy chief of staff. "Their attacks on my staff, especially Stefanie Spear — a fierce, loyal warrior for MAHA who proudly serves in the Trump Administration and works every day to advance President Trump's vision for a healthier, stronger America — are proof we're over the target. We'll keep moving forward, we'll keep delivering wins, and no smear campaign will stop us." "President Trump is delivering on every promise beyond my wildest dreams — ending war, protecting free speech, rebuilding American industry and the American middle class, delivering transparency and gold standard science, and breaking the grip of entrenched interests," Kennedy said. "The president has made himself the answer to my 20-year prayer that God would put me in a position to end the chronic disease epidemic — and that's exactly what my team and I will do until the day he leaves office." -
Absolutely true.

This really is a big story. The Chiefs will have Rice for the beginning stretch of the season - the most difficult they have (at least on paper). -

In the fight to restore order in the nation's capital, the Trump administration is now engaging another, proven founding principle of the republic: The Second Amendment. Specifically, the District of Columbia's concealed-carry permitting process time is being slashed, from months to days. This is an unmitigated good thing, and actually is a fundamental liberty, not granted but protected by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The concealed carry permit process also has been streamlined, Fox Digital learned. What used to take "several months" to obtain a concealed carry permit, has been cut down to 4.6 days, according to data compiled during the month of May by the task force, which the White House shared with Fox News Digital. Appointments for firearm registration and conceal carry licenses also have been combined into one category to cut back on confusion over which option to choose when beginning the gun process. While the District will soon use third-party finger printers, in addition to Metropolitan Police Department machines, after the D.C. City Council voted to broaden where people can get fingerprinted July 28. For a Second Amendment purist (like me), it rankles that any jurisdiction, anywhere, is allowed to require a government permit to exercise a constitutional right. (Alaska doesn't.) But this is the world we live in; politics is the art of the possible, and in the District of Columbia, this may well be the best we can hope for - today. And we should note that before the Supreme Court's decision in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen case, we might not even have had that. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2025/08/15/big-beautiful-self-defense-win-trump-streamlines-dc-concealed-carry-permitting-n2192849 -

President Trump Cracking down on Crime in our Nation's Capital

YES. NEXT QUESTION: Are Democrats Really This Desperate to Defend Crime? CNN’s “The Arena” got tense Thursday when the overwhelmingly left-leaning panel tried to claim that crime is worse in red states than in Washington, D.C. — completely ignoring that the cities they cited have long been run by Democrats. The tension hit a peak when Republican strategist Scott Jennings went toe-to-toe with former Obama advisor David Axelrod, who thought he had Jennings in a “gotcha” moment. Axelrod tried to deflect criticism of Democrat-run Washington by bringing up Jennings’ hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, clearly thinking he had the upper hand. It was a classic Democratic move, aimed at countering President Trump’s crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital. But Jennings anticipated the setup and quickly pointed out that Louisville — just like D.C. — has been under Democratic leadership for decades, with both a Democrat mayor and a Democrat governor. Axelrod pressed his point. “Your hometown of Louisville has comparable murder rates and property [crime]. So you’re saying it’s all about the Democratic mayor and Democratic… Would you advise the president to describe Louisville as he describes Washington? Would you support sending the military into Louisville?” Jennings didn’t miss a beat. “Well, Louisville and the District of Columbia are two different places because the Constitution designates—” Axelrod tried to interject: “The president says he can send them into other cities.” Jennings seized on the interruption to make his point clear. “Exactly right. Louisville is a violent place. We had a kid shot at a bus stop. We have an epidemic of violence in Louisville, and it has been under Democratic control for decades, and my state’s been under a Democratic governor for the last two—” Elliot Williams, CNN chief political analyst, who was also on the panel, conceded part of Jennings’ argument. “Absolutely true. But you can’t deny that it’s politically advantageous for the mayor [sic] to go after the mayors of—” Jennings interrupted with an agreement, though he turned the point on its head. “Can I agree with you on politics? It’s good politics to reduce crime.” “Agree,” Williams responded. “That’s why Trump is reducing crime,” Jennings said bluntly. “And I don’t understand why Democrats want to keep it the same.” https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/08/15/are-democrats-really-this-desperate-to-defend-crime-n4942727 Roundy lying ? Who'd a thunk it. No, Sean Dunn, the man accused of throwing a sandwich at a federal officer in Washington D.C., has not been exonerated. He has been released on his own recognizance by a federal judge, who found the felony charge excessive. However, he is still facing charges and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing in September. In addition, Dunn, who previously worked for the Department of Justice, has been fired from his position. -
Anyone surprised ? The DNC's collapse is the direct result of the defunding of USAID by George Harizanov By all accounts, even those of liberal media outlets, the Democratic National Committee is broke. Under the leadership of chairman Ken Martin, the DNC is facing a full-blown financial crisis. But how did it come to this? Well, donor flight is one part of the answer. Since President Trump and J.D. Vance took office in a historic victory, the DNC's once-reliable donor class has slammed the brakes on contributions. But the bigger story, and one the mainstream press won't touch, is that a critical pipeline of cash has been shut off: the massive taxpayer-funded slush fund known as USAID. https://humanevents.com/2025/08/13/george-harizanov-the-dncs-collapse-is-the-direct-result-of-the-defunding-of-usaid .

Wyoming Timber Industry Set For Huge Comeback, More Sawmills Needed, Officials Say by Mark Heinz The pieces might be falling into place for Wyoming’s timber industry to make a strong comeback, legislators and land management officials said. The volume of timber being cut in Wyoming might outpace the state’s few remaining sawmills to meet the demand. The increase in demand coincides with tariffs being placed on Canadian lumber, which for decades had been a main source of wood in the United States. Last week, the U.S. Commerce Department announced a significant increase on duties of Canadian lumber imports to 35%. Long-term success of expanding the Wyoming timber industry hinges on building back the “local timber industry,” instead of trucking logs to mills in other states https://cowboystatedaily.com/2025/08/12/wyoming-timber-industry-set-for-huge-comeback-more-sawmills-needed-officials-say/ .
