And that’s without redistricting

I should have known that there was more to than reported. Trump is setting them up again. RE: Trump’s Flag Burning EO It’s always worth reading the primary source material before freaking out. Go read the actual EO. I’ll link to it below. It does not make the mere act of burning a US flag illegal—that is still constitutionally protected speech. What it DOES make illegal is this: burning a US flag "in a manner that is likely to incite imminent lawless action or that is an action amounting to “fighting words”.” So if you want to go burn your own flag in your own backyard, have at it. But if you want to burn that flag amidst a violent “Death to America” rally paid for by George Soros, that’s something altogether different. Now I am not opining on whether even that narrow interpretation will survive constitutional scrutiny. But know this—the more of these sorts of EOs Trump signs, the more legal resources the Democrats must expend to challenge him, resources that could probably be better deployed (for their purposes) on issues essential to the Trump agenda. What I’m trying to tell you is that this EO is a giant “SQUIRREL!” for Democrats. Enjoy it.

Victor Davis Hanson's Truth Bombs

What Made the Democratic Party Go Crazy? By Victor Davis Hanson The answer was not Trump alone. Indeed, irony abounds when Democrats resonate with the claims of the vestigial Never Trumpers that the MAGA movement “hijacked” the Republican Party. In characteristic projectionist fashion, the left is simply falsely attributing to their opposition the very hijacking that hit the Democratic Party. The Republicans are still the party of conservatism and traditionalism. But in the last decade, it adopted an expansionary middle-class agenda that has led to record party registration, its first popular presidential vote victory since 2004, and control of all three branches of government. The MAGA emphases also have accomplished what prior “moderate” Republican presidents and presidential candidates had sought but largely failed to achieve: making inroads with minorities and youth and substituting class commonalities for racial chauvinism. Thus, in 2024, 55 percent of Hispanic men and somewhere around 25 percent of black males voted for Trump—along with a +2 advantage for Trump among young men in general (18-29). In contrast, Joe Biden left office with below 40 percent popularity in many polls. His replacement, 2024 Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, despite a substantial advantage in funding and overwhelmingly biased, favorable media coverage, lost both the popular and Electoral College vote. Since the election, a variety of data points show a steady erosion in Democrat Party favorability (24 percent positive polling) and voter registration (for the first time in memory, Republicans are out-registering hemorrhaging Democrats in new voter affiliations). They are also on the losing end of a 40/60 split among voters on most issues—especially the border, energy, crime, transgenderism, and foreign policy—a truth that even the legacy media cannot disguise. The Democratic implosion does not necessarily mean they will not win back the House in the next election. Historically, it is difficult for even an unpopular out-party not to pick up lots of House and Senate seats in an administration’s first midterm. But if Democrats capture at least the House, the vote will not be for their party’s policies or politicians as much as a reflection of their ginned-up opposition to Trump, the messenger of a radical and controversial counterrevolutionary message. The Democratic project is bleeding out because it either does not address what the middle class is worried about, or it offers no solution to popular anger—namely over inflation, the out-of-control DEI commissariat, illegal immigration, crime, high energy prices and tyrannical Green New Deal policies, steep interest rates, unaffordable housing costs, and anemic foreign policies. https://victorhanson.com/what-made-the-democratic-party-go-crazy/ -

Why Don't We Know What Caused the L.A. Fires? Victoria Taft It's been eight months since the California wildfires incinerated hundreds of homes and left charred scars stretching for miles in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena. The natives are getting restless, however. Angelenos want to know what officially caused these fires, which led to homelessness and despair and contributed to a corrosive and abiding distrust of local and state government competence. What's the holdup? We're getting closer to finding out the cause, ironically, not from the state's congressional delegation and its two troubled senators, but rather because a Florida senator is demanding answers. Senator Rick Scott, at the bidding of desperate Palisades fire victims, answered their pleas to get answers from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). The ATF took command of the investigation less than a week after the Palisades fire sparked at 10:30 a.m on Tuesday, January 7. Scott met with Palisades fire victims, including Spencer Pratt, a cast member from the MTV show "The Hills," who lost his home in the fire. Pratt has become a leading spokesman for fire victims. He arranged a meeting with Scott in the Palisades, where the senator promised to get a briefing from the ATF for fire victims. Scott says he's also introduced a bill seeking tax relief for victims required to pay taxes on houses that were incinerated. Earlier this week, Mayor Karen Bass told the Los Angeles Times that Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli asked her to wait to release her after-action, woulda—coulda—shoulda report until after the feds announce the cause of the Palisades fire. Since Bass has done nothing but fight the Trump Administration, this cooperation is amusing and must serve her purposes to forestall, for as long as possible, the report that exposes her nitwittery. There are three leading possibilities for the actual cause of the biggest firestorm in California history, The Witchy Winds—aka Santa Ana winds— sparking up a fire that had been put out in Topanga Canyon a week before. A hiker or homeless encampment sparking the fire. Or—as the left is fond of blaming everything on—the old standby "climate change" magicked up the fire. https://pjmedia.com/victoria-taft/2025/08/24/what-caused-the-la-fires-and-why-dont-we-know-n4942972

A nice idea Mr. President. But free speech laws take precedent. You are wrong here.
