United Health Care Exec Assassinated in NYC
B-Man replied to JFKjr's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Hatred Born Out of Delusion David Strom Liberals keep accusing conservatives of being inherently violent, yet somehow, it is the left that always celebrates political violence. The latest example is the reaction to the assassination of UnitedHealth Group's CEO Brian Thompson. If you spent any time over the past few days on social media, you would have been treated to a chorus of celebration, mostly from leftists, over the murder of a corporate CEO. There were more than a few people who recoiled at the glee, but far too many put the assassination video on loop and chuckled at his death. Ostensibly, this was because Thompson was a Very Bad Man, responsible for the death of thousands because UnitedHealth is in the business of profiting off people's suffering. There is a great deal of overlap between the class of people who celebrated Hamas' attack on Israel and the assassination of a CEO. Both are driven by a resentment of people who wrongly consider themselves oppressed despite being among the most privileged people in the world. Almost all of them are college-educated, gleefully sure of their moral superiority, and for the most part, they feel like they don't get the power, prestige, and financial rewards that are their due. They are members of an elite class, but generally speaking, they are the losers in the race to the top of the elite. They have degrees in all sorts of useless "studies" for which they paid an outrageous amount and will never get any return on their investment. The Marxism in Front of You That You Can't Unsee, Volume I: Trans Insanity Kevin Downey Jr. Minutes after the legalization of gay marriage back in 2015, which I was all for, I heard a word that was new to me: "transgender." I heard it immediately and I heard it a lot. FACT-O-RAMA! Tyranny comes disguised as virtue. The Lefty Marxists, pretending they oppose all forms of bigotry, will deem anything they want to "cancel" -- like voter ID and Donald Trump -- as racist, homophobic, Islamophobic, etc. The goal of Marxism has never been to save the "oppressed" but to use them as foot soldiers to do their bidding. I expected the LGB crowd to take victory laps but saw few. Now it was all about this new victim class of bearded ladies few had heard of and, most importantly, where can they pee-pee without getting beaten up? The answer was they would use the ladies' room. Don't complain, bigot. FACT-O-RAMA! I found one case of a transgender dude in a dress beaten up in a high school restroom, numerous cases of trans people punched out for being in the ladies' room, and a ton of cases of trans men sexually assaulting women and kids in public restrooms. As a former liberal who had spent most of my adult life living in or near New York City, and with plenty of gay friends, I was suspicious as to how this previously unknown group of dudettes was suddenly front and center. Moreover, I thought it was qu eer (original meaning, see what I did there?) that my gay friends who fought -- sometimes literally -- for gay rights suddenly handed the keys to their LGB movement to a tiny group of men in Walmart dresses and bad mascara, who promptly threw the letter "T" onto the soon-to-be exploding list of allegedly betrodden victims of phantom "oppression." Social justice warriors quickly amped up their "wokeness." New "rules" came out weekly. Tampon machines were placed in high school men's rooms. We were told we needed to put our pronouns in our emails and to ask people, trans or otherwise, what their preferred pronouns are. Men in dresses weren't only allowed in the ladies' room, now they could get naked in the locker room next to your daughter. Got a problem with that, "transphobe"? At this point I assumed the new rules of "woke" were being written by obnoxious, liberal, white, green-haired freakshows, pounding away on Macs while enjoying gluten-free, vegan-friendly lattes, fighting to make the world a more "tolerant" place. I was way off. In the next nine years I would learn the LGBs didn't lovingly hand the reins of the gay pride faction to the transgender dudes. No, the trannies hijacked it. But how? There are so few of them. I realized later that the gay crew was never in charge of their own movement. The Marxists were running it all along. (Worst Hitler ever) Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will reportedly attend the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump on January 20. The Times of Israel reported that a source close to Netanyahu’s office confirmed the trip has been under consideration and that “no final decision has yet been made on the matter.” https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/report-netanyahu-planning-to-attend-trumps-inauguration-in-january/ -

VDH: What the Trump Nominees Have Not Done — And Will Not Do. Deflated by the resounding November defeat, the left now believes it can magically rebound by destroying President-elect Donald Trump’s cabinet nominees. Many of Trump’s picks are well outside the usual Washington, D.C./New York political, media, and corporate nexus. But that is precisely the point — to insert reformers into a bloated, incompetent, and weaponized government who are not part of it. Trump’s nominee for FBI director, Kash Patel, is already drawing severe criticism. His furious enemies cannot go after his resume, since he has spent a lifetime in private, congressional, and executive billets, both in investigations and intelligence. Instead, they claim he is too vindictive and does not reflect the ethos of the FBI. But what will Patel not do as the new director? He will not serially lie under oath to federal investigators as did interim FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a current Patel critic. He will not forge an FBI court affidavit, as did convicted felon and agency lawyer Kevin Clinesmith. He will not claim amnesia 245 times under congressional oath to evade embarrassing admissions as did former Director James Comey. He will not partner with a foreign national to collect dirt and subvert a presidential campaign as the FBI did with Christopher Steele in 2016. He will not use the FBI to draft social media to suppress news unfavorable to a presidential candidate on the eve of an election. He would not have suppressed FBI knowledge that Hunter Biden’s laptop was genuine — to allow the lie to spread that it was “Russian disinformation” on the eve of the 2020 election. He will not raid the home of an ex-president with SWAT teams, surveil Catholics, monitor parents at school board meetings, or go after pro-life peaceful protestors. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2024/12/06/what_the_trump_nominees_have_not_done_--_and_will_not_do_152053.html

What the Hell is Happening in Syria?
B-Man replied to Coffeesforclosers's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
There It Is: Biden Vows to Send Our Tax Dollars to Rebuild New Syrian Regime Boy, did we call it or what? Earlier this afternoon we told you how President Joe Biden planned to address the nation about the ongoing regime change in Syria. Damascus has fallen and newly freed prisoners are eyeing a trip to America (because of course), and we all asked how much of our tax dollars would be going to the beleaguered Middle East nation. Well, Biden addressed the nation and now we know: While Americans in North Carolina are still sleeping in tents. In winter. https://twitchy.com/amy-curtis/2024/12/08/biden-vows-aid-to-new-syrian-regime-n2404877 -

What the Hell is Happening in Syria?

Obvious differences. President Trump Responds to Civil War in Syria: "This is not our fight" ... "Do not get involved" President Biden to Address Nation on War in Syria and X Users Wonder How Much This Is Gonna Cost Us So. Syria. There's a lot going on over there, but the CliffsNotes version is this: about two weeks ago, Islamist militant group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and other rebels launched an attack in the north, and quickly overtook the city of Aleppo before moving on Damascus. Yesterday, Damascus fell and Bashar al-Assad stepped down after ruling since his father died in 2000. Despite Kamala Harris' asinine claim during the debates that there were no American troops in combat zones, there are 900 troops in Syria right now, and President Biden (yeah, he's still president, we guess) is going to address the nation about it: What could possibly go wrong? https://twitchy.com/amy-curtis/2024/12/08/biden-to-address-country-on-syria-n2404863 -

The Worst News Outlet of the Week With our new feature we assess the news landscape from the past seven days and ascertain if one news organization rose up by lowering itself on a consistent basis. Using our strict arbitrary measurement process, we compile the news outlets departing furthest from journalism standards. This week, Pete Hegseth becomes a theme, as he was a notably focused topic in the press all week. Let’s scratch our heads and hold our noses as we delve into the mayhem. THE CONTENDERS ESQUIRE - In an amazing dose of media malpractice, Charles Pierce defended Joe Biden’s pardon of his son by asserting that George H.W. Bush did the same for his son Neil. The article had to be cleaned up due to a small detail – that pardon never took place. After it was highlighted that this massive blunder had passed through all of the editorial channels unchecked, the outlet spiked the column entirely. CNN - Dana Bash led a panel that spent a lengthy dose of time about Pete Hegseth drinking beer at Fox News — on St.Patrick’s Day. (Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon getting blasted on New Year’s Eve was never a concern.) Jake Tapper spoke with a seismologist to ask if earthquakes were caused by climate change. Brian Stelter regrets now not including Hegseth drinking gossip from nameless sources in his book on Fox News. WASHINGTON POST - Military correspondent Dan Lamothe covered Pete Hegseth’s history of drinking, and it led to the web dredging up Dan’s own recorded drinking past. WaPo showed its duality in covering the Bronze Star, depending on which political party is involved. The paper put out a pro-puberty-blockers-for-minors propaganda article, ignoring Europe is banning their use. NBC NEWS - This was the outlet that sparked the week of Pete Hegseth and a drinking problem by claiming 10 current and former Fox News people detailed his issues. That they — and most other outlets — ignored numerous named individuals going on the record to call the claim garbage and instead relied on nameless and jobless randos for their smear speaks volumes. On the "Today” show, they could not bring themselves to say Biden lied in his pardon decision, calling it instead a “stunning reversal.” WINNER THE NEW YORK TIMES The paper followed its failed targeting of conservatives on YouTube by now going after content providers on Rumble. Michele Goldberg proposed that Biden pardon all FBI people in trouble before Kash Patel takes over. Donald Trump is demanding loyalty from his nominees, as if this is a unique feature when presidents build their cabinets. Paul Krugman announced he is retiring from his column; this is good news, but serves as a reminder the paper kept him on for two decades. In covering Biden’s pardon, it was reported (not an op-ed) that he decided on the decade-long excusal after leaving church, then Joe was tormented by a family in crisis – but Trump had trampled the legal system with his pardons. https://redstate.com/bradslager/2024/12/08/the-worst-news-outlet-of-the-week-a-look-at-the-latest-deliveries-from-the-dysfunctional-media-n2182954

Can Anyone Explain to Me Why We Still Need the TSA? By Ward Clark When the Transportation Security Administration was founded in 2001, in response to the 9/11 terror attacks, Senator Tom Daschle (D-SD) famously stated, "You can’t professionalize if you don’t federalize.” While that statement, especially given the benefit of hindsight is giggle-inducing, today's shows of security theater at the nation's airports are making Senator Daschle's remarks even more nonsensical. {snip} I've often wondered why we need the TSA. Previously, security screening was handled by the airports and airlines. Yes, on 9/11, there were failures in screening, as the terrorists were allowed to board carrying box cutters. There were also failures in immigration screening and in many more areas, but we might remember: Hindsight is always 20-20. It's unclear as to why we need to have an entire federal administration to do this when the airports and airlines handled it very well for many decades — and there's no reason that we can't have certain legal guidelines security contractors should abide by, like "Don't let people carry box cutters on to airplanes." Some of the post-9/11 security measures make some sense. Locking cockpit doors is one of them. But too much of what goes on in our airports is not security; it is security theater, a theater that at times requires the "random" frisking of little old ladies and toddlers. Maybe Elon and Vivek need to add TSA to the DOGE list — for reform, at the very least. https://redstate.com/wardclark/2024/12/08/can-anyone-explain-to-my-why-we-still-need-the-tsa-n2182952

"600,000 Russian soldiers lay wounded or dead, in a war that should never have started, and could go on forever." "Russia and Iran are in a weakened state right now, one because of Ukraine and a bad economy, the other because of Israel and its fighting success. Likewise, Zelenskyy and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness. They have ridiculously lost 400,000 soldiers, and many more civilians. There should be an immediate ceasefire and negotiations should begin. Too many lives are being so needlessly wasted, too many families destroyed, and if it keeps going, it can turn into something much bigger, and far worse. I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The World is waiting!" Writes Trump on Truth Social. https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113615912452824634 The NY Post writes about that statement in "Trump calls on 'weakened' Russia to enact ceasefire in Ukraine after Kremlin ally Assad is toppled in Syria." Excerpt: "Trump, who has at times expressed a fascination with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, remarked about how feeble Moscow appeared in Syria after the shocking and swift fall of Bashar al-Assad, whom Russia backed with troops, aircraft and navy ships." https://nypost.com/2024/12/08/us-news/trump-calls-on-russia-to-enact-ceasefire-in-ukraine-after-assad-is-toppled-in-syria/

President Elect Donald J. Trump
B-Man replied to Walking Tall's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is too funny. For President Trump at Notre Dame, it’s an ordinary walk to his seat, except something happened. It starts out with Poland’s President Andrzej Duda standing up to greet President Donald Trump. They are friends, and Duda is one of the EU heads of state that is seriously thrilled to see President Trump return (Hungary’s Orban is another). However, after Duda stands things get funny because all the other dignitaries then feel obligated to stand and greet President Trump. President Trump ended up turning his simple walk to his seat, into a reception line of foreign dignitaries who stood at attention to greet him. I cannot stop laughing because it’s just so epic.
