Dont know if it's because I'm older than almost every player in the league with the exception of an odd kicker. But after 12 years of garbage, spending too much cash, and seeing a greedier nfl product (ie Thursday night football). Gave up fantasy football this year, don't miss it at all. Tell the truth I barely miss sitting in a bar watching this team lose week after week. So my question is, are you watching more, less or about the same. I think it would be different if lived in buffalo, im just outside nyc

anyone take their kids/family on a cruise ?
Vetriano replied to drinkTHEkoolaid's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I have done two cruises with my daughter and wife. The first when she was probably four, it was a new boat I think holland America eurodam. It was a cruise to no where left from NYC was at sea for three nights. Me and my daughter had a great time. She had asked from that time when we would go back This year when my dauhter was eight we did a Baltic sea cruise- we have to go to eyrope every year because we have family to visit- so the cruise left stockholm, helsinki, st Petersburg, Riga, gdansk. My daughter says it was her favorite vacation ever. Entertainment and food was great, a lot of international passengers, they had a kids club, climbing wall. We all definitely would do it again. We left the cruise in Poland, to visit family. This was the right age for a real cruise, glad we did not do this type of $ earlier. I wouldn't do any location -Disney, skiing or cruising greater than five days. But that's just our preference -
Florida Keys- Islamorada - suggestions??
Vetriano replied to Vetriano's topic in Off the Wall Archives
We went to the fish company last night. My family had a great time. They had a fire juggler there. Music was chill. They were feeding tarpon and other huge fish outside. To be honest, I'm not a fisherman, but that sportsman store was awesome, the aquarium really cool. Made me feel like I'm missing out on something good. I may have to learn that sport!! -

thanks for the suggestions, had no idea what gillooyed meant. had to look it up, interesting reference to Tanya Harding and the knee cap incident with the husband (nice). -

Thanks, Paul Also, saw Dan Marino in Fort Lauderdale yesterday, he was friendly just said hello and how are you and kept walking on. Was with a lot of family.

I dont care for movies too much, unless it is good. And this was great! Really, the story, the sets, the acting. I thought it would be more of a kids story, I brought my 8 year old daughter, but it is just fantastic. Think Amelie, visually, with 3D that finally works. Sasha Cohen (BORAT) was good too. Wondering if anyone else saw it and there thoughts? Try to see it in the theatre if you can- wont regret it As a point of refernece, I hated the last two Woody Allen flicks, esp that "midnight in paris"

Going to see The Walkmen today in Philly...
Vetriano replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
saw them sunday night in Hoboken. No idea who they were, but they were the headline band to close out the night. the lead singer is intense with great style, the drummer carries the band- simply awesome. hope i can see them play again, i was lucky. Crystal castles next please!! -
I am torn on this as well. I cant stand the Pats-- rooted hard for the Giants to end their perfect season-- now the Giants are my second favorite team. The Jets-- I have rooted for after the bills season is over (cause im in this area, and come week 7- Im thinking about draft picks. I agree the goal for every team should be to win the super bowl. But the Jets swagger and bravado without winning a regular season game is horrible. Glad the Ravens won big time in the new Giants stadium. I want a tie.

Jersey City / Hoboken Bills Backers
Vetriano replied to Captain Caveman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Two places. Dubliner-- Ive been going the last 5 to 6 six years. Downstairs. I like it. There is a Hoboken Bills Backers-- they used to meet at a bar near City Hall, but they just moves-- Its called "Northern" something, I think its on first street, near Madison and Monroe. I might check it out. -
I've sit in section 214 a number of times and quite like the set up on the Jim Kelly side. Is it similar on the Paul Maguire side, with the TV's inside with all the games? Does anyone have a preference, one side vs the other. Thanks!!

I like 16. just enough. The last few years when we are finally elimated in the first week of December, only watch a couple of weeks to see whos gonna stay on the roster and then we are in playoff season. Could you imagine trying to sell out these additional games in Buff, or even better Detroit. Thoughts??

if the moth has a show-- definately a cool NY experience. check out themoth.org. they are pretty cheap too. A lso, you may want to try Carolines in the city for a cheap commedy show if possible. I went 2 weeks ago, my friend was performing a new talent night-- it was like $5, show started at 6:30 or 7. they had like 10 people perform. Some kicked a@@ others bombed, but it was cool

Going to the Jets game in Toronto?
Vetriano replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm going. Ive gone 8 of the last 9 years to the jet Buffalo game in Buffalo. My friends (somey Jet fans) love going to Buffalo, the excitement, Christmas day atmosphere. They want to go to Toronto-- have to obligue, want to keep the tradition going. They are looking forward to seeing another city. Hey why not? Anyone got good recommendations on what to see or do. We are going up Thursday and coming back Sunday. -
Talks underway to put NFL Superbowl in London....
Vetriano replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If they do this-- I wont watch another NFL game-- ever. THe NFL is a pure American game-- the rest of the world likes soccer. I am not the most patriotic guy, Ive lived in London, married a European--however this just strikes me as wrong-- maybe im at wits end. -
Like the Democracy Now! recommendation. Thanks

Looks Ok. I would prefer Sendak-like animation instead. Definately looks a lot more developed than the book-- which I guess is necessary to make a full length film (but if thats the case--why not give it a different name)? The original story Im not sure needs to be corrupted like they have done to so many great Dr. Seuss stories (starring Jim Carey). I think I'll try to introduce my daughter to the original story (that will remain a classic forever).

I like Itunes most of all for the ease of subscription of the podcasts. My favorites-- This American Life. Marketplace (APR), the Moth. Science Times (by the NY Times). Wondering if anyone has any good ones to share? thanks, Paul

As the days wind by and we will be saying goodbye to JP (ie Dave from flight of the concords). Just wondering if anyone thinks the same. Totally an offseason January question with zero relevance to anything other than entertainment (sort of like football). Anyway, if you haven't seen the show or heard the music, heres a good link.

Im going to the game. Im still very upset by the Cleveland and SF losses at HOME. I think the coaching has been horrible since the skid begun and Im still mad at the Dallas mismanaged game last year. Dick has to go. I am rooting for an UN-Win that doesnt kill my main Fantasy team.
