Is anyone else not fully buying into Gailey?
TC in St. Louis replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think it matters whether we buy into him. The players are buying into him, and there is enough talent on this squad to be competitive. The OL isn't great, but he'll design plays and call plays to take advantage of the strengths of the offense. The transition from 4-3 to 3-4 will take a bit of time, but these are all NFL calibre players, so if the coaching is right, they will be good. I like his attitude about coming to work expecting to win. I think his playcalling is key to the whole thing. Playcalling is all about catching the opposition off-guard. In other words, right play right time. Remember in 2002 when NE ran like 26 successful screen plays on us? That's what we need from CG. -
JP Foschi cut today by Bills
TC in St. Louis replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you guys probably know this, but they just signed David Martin. -
Chase Coffman released
TC in St. Louis replied to sllib olaffub's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd sign him immediately. He made so many amazing catches at Missouri it was ridiculous. His dad was a Pro-Bowl calibre TE for the Packers. He's gotta be better than that guy who kept dropping passes the other day. -
Give me your take on Brian Brohm #4
TC in St. Louis replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd rather have Brohm as a backup than Fitz. I thought he looked like a professional qb last night. That interception at the end of the first was a horrible play by the TE, it was right in his hands, and he messed it up. -
Looking to attend Arrowhead for the Bills game
TC in St. Louis replied to lets_go_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I went last year and had a good time. I have a picture of me with some guy dressed up as a gorilla in a Marshawn Lynch jersey. I also went to a game there a few years back when we had Jim Kelly and company, and we got smoked. Fans love their team. Incidentally, I bought my tickets on Stubhub last year a week out, got some 25 rows off the field at about the 20 for $15 each. That seemed like a good way to go. -
What's with all this AFC East Toughness BS?
TC in St. Louis replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying the Bills will win the AFC East. I don't know how this is gonna play out. All I'm saying is I don't understand all the talk about how dominating the other 3 are gonna be. The most dominant of them lost 6 games last year (should've been 7) and really didn't do much to get better. The Jets are without their best defender, and I still don't get this Chad Henne hype. Whatever. Bring it. -
I was watching last night when Chris Brown broke down last year's standings. Fins 7-9, Jets 9-7, Pats 10-6. Where's the dominant team? We were 6-10, a couple plays from being right in the thick of it, and we're improved. It's not like we're trying to catch up with the 16-0 Pats of a few years back. Every time anybody discusses the AFC East, they talk about the Fins, Pats, and Jets. We are a total afterthought. Looking at last year's standings, it just doesn't make any sense. We were one game from being tied with Miami. Had we won that first game against New England and all other games played out the same, we'd have been tied with Miami, and both the Jets and Pats would've been 9-7. Two games difference. There is no respect for this team. I can't wait till the opener. Really.

Best Special Teamer Ever = Worst Announcer Ever
TC in St. Louis replied to eschej13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember watching the USA v. Russia hockey game in 1980, shown on tape delay in Milwaukee. The Americans were trailing after 2, I think the score was 3-2. It was unbelievably tense. During the commercial break just before the top of the 3rd period, the Milwaukee sports guy did a little announcement...."The American hockey team pulls off one of the biggest upsets in the history of sports.....details following the game." His name was Vince Gibbons, and that was his final call for that particular t.v. station. -
Everybody seems to have some certain thoughts and predictions about this squad. Nobody knows anything. I believe this team will play some exciting offense. Nobody will know how to defend what Chan throws out there with his 3 headed rb and a suddenly intelligent QB. We have yet to put any defensive game plan into effect. I believe this team will be very competitive, and will win more games than they lose. It's funny how a last place schedule has us playing Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Vikes, Ravens....and 2 games each against the Jets, Pats, and Fins. According to the experts, we've started the season with 10 losses. Nice schedule will get this team ready for the playoffs. If we stay relatively healthy.

Foxsports sleeper pick for this year
TC in St. Louis replied to Damian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have a better team than last year's squad. We're more organized, and we have better talent. We've got a better coach. We should have beaten New England. That loss turned the entire season into a debacle. Had our guy not fumbled that kickoff, we would've won the game and been the talk of the league for the right reason. We wouldn't have lost to Cleveland, etc. Anyway, there's no way on God's Green Earth that this is the worst team in Pro Football. If there are those among us who actually feel this way, I don't get why they have to keep hammering that point. Misery loves company, but maybe not here. -
I don't believe that Sullivan knows all the linebacker combos in the league. I live in St. Louis, and other than Laurinaitis, I don't know one linebacker on this team. I think that our guys will do the job. I think Sullivan is a moron when I read articles like this. How did this team go from 6-10 to the worst team in the league? It's insane. Had they beaten New England, with an 11 point lead, 2 minutes left, they would've won 10 games last year. The entire season fell to pieces when our KR fumbled the kickoff.

I think it's obvious that Chan Gailey is a football man. He's got years and years experience running teams and offenses at many levels. He's uncompromising, and he has achieved a pretty good level of success. He kept Dallas in the playoffs, and Jones says he shouldn't have fired him. He had Pittsburgh flowing with Kordell as QB. He had Miami in the playoffs with a lousy quarterback. He managed to move the ball in KC with a guy named Thigpen at QB. I now believe we have the right man in place. I am of the belief that we will make the playoffs this year. I believe it. You fans join me. Let's rock. Now, let's rock again. They may say I'm drinking the Kool-aid, but I don't think the Bills have been jamming Gailey down our throats. If anything, they've been preaching patience. I don't think Gailey is particularly patient. I think he's gonna win.

Chan Gailey admonishes a group of fans
TC in St. Louis replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those fans must've stood out with their idiocy. Maybe Chan thought it would be a good thing to unify the squad. It's sort of biblical. Whatsoever you do to the least of my brethren you do to me. I like it. -
Just watched Chans press conference....

I thought we got our butts beat last night, no great surprise there. I was a little disappointed that the Skins were running blitzes all night, even with 40 seconds left against a 7th round QB. Then I remembered how much of a spotlight was on DC last night, with McNabb and Firemarshall Bill working his first game, and Danny the Dwarf in the booth yukking it up. It was clear to me that Washington HAD to win this game, and they played that way. I've always viewed preseason as a means to evaluate talent and make roster decisions. With a lot of our starters not playing, and having lost Jackson and Marshawn on the first drive, I was glad more guys didn't get hurt. I still think there was a clip on that punt return. It doesn't matter. The team made a ton of mistakes, but there were some good plays too. Let's wait till next week. I'm okay with it now that I've had a chance to take a breath. -
I mean, sending 7 guys in on a 7th round QB with 49 seconds on the clock? Throwing deep with a 25 point lead? Endless blitzing? They're on friggin' crack down there if they think this game means anything. That said, with few exceptions, the Bills looked pretty sorry. Trent sucked. Calling 3 timeouts early in the game? What's his problem? No excuses. I don't know who played well. They game planned, we didn't. They were going crazy all night running plays, and we stuck to basics. I'm not happy at all, but at the same time, I'm not too upset. Hope Carrington's okay.

I was truly looking forward to this, and I'm just blown away by the ineptitude. But then again, the Skins are playing like a playoff game. How about a little pressure on the QB? Would that be good? Maybin stood out. Getting flattened and then roughing the QB. -

Really have not seen much positive at all. Maybe nothing. Trent looks dumber than ever. But the Skins are blitzing on every down like they're in the freakin' Super Bowl. -

Wasn't that a HUGE clip on that punt return? I watched it 5 times. he was jacked from behind. -
Man, I thought Maybin was the problem last year when it took forever to get him signed. But now this Spiller deal really is aggravating. The guys on both sides of him have been signed. Just make the deal. It looks like Ralph is cheap. I don't think there is ample evidence to support that. He's cut big checks for dopes in the past (i.e., 49 million for Derrick Dockery, all the money to Schobel, Evans, the fact that our other draft choices are in the fold). It makes me sick. The team has missed the playoffs forever, and they marched up to the podium in about 4 seconds flat to draft the guy....just sign him, get it done.

Hey man. I know who's on the team. I follow this team, and have been a fan since the 60's. Brain fart is a good description of what happened when I put in Josh Evans instead of Lee Evans. We've got tons of candidates for the WR position. I am under the assumption that the readers of my post have some knowledge as well. They know what I'm talking about. They don't need the names of Steve Johnson, James Hardy, et. al. I don't care if I come across as an idiot. Many people feel that you have to be somewhat of an idiot to care so much about a team that has not made the playoffs in a decade.

I am astonished by all the pundits predicting that this team is one of the worst in football. And there are a ton of people on this board who feel the same way. This team lacked leadership last year. The coach was horrible. Horrible. Was there ever a worse fit for a no-huddle offense? I mean, 3 points v. Cleveland? They had no clue. Look at all the recent press on Roscoe Parrish. The guy has flat out speed and skill, and he caught 3 passes last year. What a ridiculous waste of talent. We were missing nearly 40% of the team by the time things wrapped up. We missed Marshawn for 4 games, enabling Fred Jackson to show his skills. Now we've got a 3 headed MONSTER at RB. I know people say we have no line. We have issues at tackle. The interior 3 is very good. We signed a guy from Oakland for RT, we've got Bell and Meredith to work at LT, and we drafted 2 guys who have a lot of promise. We've got solid talent at TE, and we've got Josh Evans and a pile of others at WR. We've got a 3-4 with a pretty good talent level ready to tear it up in the interior, and a TOP NOTCH secondary. Our special teams may actually be better with Bruce DeHaven back in the fold. Our head coach made successful quarterbacks out of journeymen, and somebody will be coached into success. We've got the right guy. We've got the right pieces in place to wreak some havoc on the league this year. Miami is in trouble on opening day. Believe it. It's true.
