The entire tenor of the article appears to be shock that the Bills are not interested in being Toronto's team anymore. The idea of the the Toronto series was to rope Toronto's money into the Bills' market orbit. Didn't work. But, you can't blame them for still thinking we want them in our market. I hope your right, but PA taxes are a LOT lower, so I don't know. I was hoping to retire to the finger lakes, but it's unaffordable.

New Rule---Who will be first to Exploit it
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to plenzmd1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Unless I missed something, this is only a proposal and not a rule. It's up to the owners whether they want to incorporate it. Did they vote already? From the article: The NFL Competition Committee has added to its lengthy list of proposed rules changes. Although most of the proposals deal with instant replay, there are several that address safety issues. The latest, revealed Monday, is called a “medical timeout.” It gives independent injury spotters the chance to stop the game before checking a player who might be showing signs of a concussion. -
Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy

88 pages on this? Can we just agree it was a bold gamble and only time will tell if it pays off? No one knows what the consequences will be yet, good or bad. Sheesh. -
The writer is astonished because it appears Mr. Pegula isn't concerned about losing revenue to a dedicated Toronto franchise. Mr. Pegula is not concerned at all about revenue, I believe he stated something to the effect, "If I need more cash, I will dig more oil wells". In fact, I think he would welcome the rivalry. How much fun would a "Peace Bridge series" be?

Understood, but the time to test players vs. scheme and make adjustments is camp/preseason. Now is the time to boldly go for the players you think will work best with your coaching philosophy. And whereas previous years we seemed to blindly stumble through FA, this year we seem to be laser-focused. I added some Sci-Fi references for you in my response quote. Oh, to be clear . . . if you don't get the reference . . . my avatar is based on a character who rushes into a well-laid trap, only to shout "It's a trap!" when it is too late to back out. SO, my avatar is representative of being a life-long Bills fan. I added it in a few years back when things went south under Chan. Can any mods tell me how to enable the vote thingy up top?

No more Debbie Downers! As has been noticed in some recent posts, it has become all too easy for us Bills fans to shrug off the recent FO activity and/or accuse others of "drinking the kool-aid". Same Old Bills, right? That's because we've been conditioned over the last fifteen years or so to expect big moves and splashy signings to be part of an insidious plan to sell season tickets after yet another 7-9ish year. Folks, this is not the Same Old Bills. The entire vision of what the Bills franchise is, and what it should be, changed in October. We owe Mr. Wilson a great deal, but we all know that making the Bills a successful team on the field always took a back seat to making the franchise profitable, at least in the last 15-20 years. Mr. Pegula does not give a hoot about profitability, at least in the short term. He wants to own a Championship sports franchise. Sabres didn't work out - but he learned lessons. To accomplish his vision, Mr. Pegula has demonstrated he will fund premium talent at every level. The Marrone escape may have surprised the FO, but looks like it gave Mr. Pegula the nudge to proceed with his bold plan a year or two early. Whatever you think about Rex, he is a premium NFL HC. We have not had a premium NFL HC . . . well, since we were good. It's become obvious that Rex knows exactly how he wants to run the team, and exactly - and I mean with precision - which NFL players he wants executing his scheme. None of the signings we have seen have been "value" signings or WTF? one-offs. Players let go have been players that won't fit the scheme ... even if they're good. To accomplish the HC's personnel vision, Whaley has been given the green light to wheel and deal with almost reckless abandon. Good. He's bold, and I trust him. So, back to my original question: is it time to change my avatar? Or have I been drinking too much Smithwick's in preparation for St. Patty's Day? (Never too early). OK Debbie Downers, I'm open to your arguments ...

Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy
JOE IN HAMPTON ROADS replied to CNY315's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone earlier said, McCoy IS the QB fix. Look for EJ under center, handing off to McCoy. Hey, maybe that was Whaley's plan all along ... a way to get EJ back under center! -

Bills to trade Kiko Alonso for LeSean McCoy

This was my gut reaction too. He was the DROY, and man I loved watching him play.... I wanted to watch him grow up in the NFL. But, from an OBJECTIVE viewpoint - which both Rex and Pegula have, if not Whaley - this trade makes sense. And I have to hand it to Pegula Rex, NO ONE AT OBD IS PUSHING FOR A 7-9 TEAM. No one is saying "winning in the NFL is hard". They're making informed choices and taking bold risks. Like people on fire to WIN BIG NOW. I like it. -

Just two years ago, this board was lit up with posts about what a d-bag Sanchez is. Now he's welcome to be our starting QB? Can we try to be consistent please? -
