Annoyed at the negativity
MarlinTheMagician replied to PrimeTime101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. I think it is the level of disrespect for others opinions that has the OP and others bothered, not the fact of them. I too get sucked in. I am really excited about Allen, and I respect your right to have wanted Rosen. However, the level of toxicity directed for Allen is totally unwarranted. Every time someone posts "garbage pick" about Allen, I feel compelled to defend him with a staunch "Rosen is a wanker and will be terrible." T here are of course substantive reasons why I don't like Rosen and why others don't like Allen. But those are not complicated and have all been trotted out numerous times by both sides. Now it is just foul spew - which is why I called this thread a dumpster fire earlier. Rosen may be better. Allen may be better. Only time will tell. For sure, Allen is the Buffalo Bill, not Rosen. Time to get over it and move on. Definitely my last post in any of these QB threads (which I suppose will please the Rosen side and perhaps more), but it has become tiresome and just mean spirited. -

Rosen is going to be terrible. Gimme another used tire to toss on this dumpster fire of a conversation. -
Opinions on why we passed on Rosen?
MarlinTheMagician replied to Klaista2k's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The fact that he was twice concussed matters. The fact that scouts say he holds the ball too long when pressured and takes unnecessary hits matters. All things considered we took the better QB. Allen is not accurate is fake news. -

Some say it was because he is Jewish. I think it is because he is Jerk-ish. -

Rosen: 1. Holds ball; 2. Thinly built; 3. Twice concussed; 4. Self-centered, self-important attitude that will make it difficult for him to lead. -
I agree with this - can't believe we got Edmunds, and the level of negativity on the board can be astounding. Having said that, please don't pick on Brandon Reilly! Has a chance to be quite good. Not just a no talent high motor lunch bucket guy.

EXACTLY why I think Beane blew the '18 draft. -Rd. 1

Should have flamed him. That's some crazy take. ****LONG POST, but worth it, (i think)**** Not remotely -
Milano is much faster and more fluid than Vallejo. Milano hurt himself in his combine 40. He is really fast (like Edmunds fast). Having said that, I agree with you on Vallejo. He supposedly has "elite cover skills" - and he and Lacey were beasts on teams. I think Vallejo could contribute quite a bit this year. As to my comment on Milano, he could still not run come his pro day. I am glad, helped us get him. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/initial-observations-from-the-2017-boston-college-pro-day/ Sorry, couldn't find the article I was looking for before. Got it now. Milano has blazing speed for an LB - "consistently 4.5 40" per article below. Had a bad hamstring at the combine. As I said, I like Vallejo, but Milano is much, much faster. This is a great read for anyone interested. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/florida-recruiting/blog/os-sp-matt-milano-nfl-draft-0426-story.html

And maybe we drop Neal into a big nickel once in a while.

Flash this to me later if you want. McDermott loves the kid and there is no way he gets cut in training camp. He is just scratching his potential given hockey background. As we saw somewhat in preseason last year, young man is a very good football player. Tough, hard worker. Big and fast. Not going anywhere.

Anybody else have faith in AJ Mccarron?
MarlinTheMagician replied to Rebel101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have faith in him, I think he is pretty good. I pray he has a great season and Allen develops on schedule. We can then trade McCarron for a high pick! -

Love his mobility. Though I hope he does not lower his shoulder like that in the NFL! -
Many posters were bemoaning our lack of WR speed during draft. Don't forget Brandon Reilly. Because he is a scrappy guy who caught passes over the middle last season it would be easy to forget he is quite fast. He ran a 4.42 at Nebraska's pro day. He also came in last year at 6'2 and 202 lbs. Bet that is 210+ now with no loss in speed. Also promoted to the 53 late in year so no other team could grab him. I think this young receiver is going to be good. He could push for time this year and be part of the speed answer. Wouldn't surprise me if he did. Go Brandon! https://www.landof10.com/nebraska/nebraska-pro-day-worked-unofficial-results

Edmunds and Milano both really dedicated guys. I think they will be fine. Zo will be the Sam another poster said (reportedly stated by the team). Not much depth perhaps, but they can pick up some guys.

Beane and the Bills have looked at Dez Bryant

Sure hope they don't sign this guy. -

Man, he is going to be great. I will stand behind it if he is not, but I think he has it all. Talent, dedication, drive, humility, team player. For a kid that was 5'10" and 130 lbs going out for his high school team to a JUCO guy with no offers, I think he will work until he overcomes whatever shortcomings he has. -
And as much as I hate to say it - McDermott keeps identifying Mills as a leader. Save San Diego, I thought he was better. Perhaps he can become adequate? And if not, maybe McDermott can take his job. Dawkins - Teller/Groy - Bodine-Groy - Miller - Mills/McDermott does not strike me as horrific. How is the FA they signed, Newhouse I think is his name? Is he a player that could give Mills competition?
