  1. I like our Safety's as they are. Byrd has shown me some growth, and with a stronger front 7 he may return to rookie type numbers in 2011?? If Merriweather is cheap enough, he'd I'd be ok with adding him for depth, or special teams, but otherwise.. I don't see a strong need at the FS/SS position. We need one, two O-linemen, period! Fitz is going to need more than a half second to cycle through is receivers this year.. Tim-
  2. I agree, and I think this is why the decision was made, but in Levi's defense, I bet it was a hard choice for Chan and Nix. Levi did indeed outplay Tyler, BUT tyler does know the system, is familiar with Gailey, and probably reads defenses much better than the younger Brown. Tim-
  3. Played it "safe" and had the Bills finishing third, but a possible wild card birth.. Boy some here aren't going to like that.. Oh disclaimer, I have not read this thread so please excuse my petulence.. Tim-
  4. Oh, my surprise cut would be Hangartner.. Tim-
  5. To show you all how wrong you are about Kelsay, I'll make a prediction. If he gets cut, I bet dollars to donuts he's picked up the same day by someone, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was NE.. Tim-
  6. I've always liked Del Rio, as a coach and a football player. This confimed my suspicions about him thanks for posting. Tim-
  7. Me too, and I agree about Hariston. Sheppard will be nervous for sure, but after a few tackles, he'll do fine. Maybe we get lucky like we did with Williams.. Tim-
  8. What's really funny is that you've all been arguing against the 4 - 3 defense. The only difference is that this 4 - 3 is stronger up front with the addition of someone like Jasper. Oh and he lines up behind the NT.. LOL Do you all realize that it is Jasper you oppose, not that he takes on the role of ILB, BUT not a LB, instead a tackle that starts 5 feet away from the line, ya know, like Carrington's role now. The only difference is that Carrington is on the outside, and on the line, but with his hands up. Sooo, tell me genuis, does the scheme work without Jasper, or is this really about Jasper as the "heavy" instead of someone else? Or... Is it the "heavy", off the line tackle that perturbs you? Tim-
  9. Shades of René Descartes, I suppose. [wink] Tim-
  10. Hypocrisy much? Calling me a Jets fan is Personal, like if you called me a liberal, for instance.. Tim-
  11. Like Hell, brother! Bills fan my whole life. Look the OP was simply an idea, and no amount of "you're fool", "what an idiot" type posts are going to relagate me into some corner where I sit shaking, afraid of the dark. I've been posting on serious forums for two decades, and I've seen it all. Usually, I don't even bother with folks like that UNLESS they actually have a decent response. I don't take things personal, and I have a short memory, and I always comment on a persons post and ideas, NOT whether I like their internet persona. I have a thick skin, and no goofy sports fans are going to change my way of thnking about things. That said, most of the replies today have been snide comments lacking any depth of thought. (Who'da thunk it coming from a fan site) However, there were a few attempts at real criticism, and it is this that I welcome. Tim-
  12. So when a corner or safety rush off the edge, what happens? Dude, do you KNOW what a "scheme" is? Think diabolical, for your reference: Are you the same folks that beat on the Bills for their unoriginal offense, and defense and praise the likes of Ryan, and Billiberb? Just asking coz all you nay-sayers aren't thinking like defensive coordinators do. One more time for the challenged. The point of concentrating the ofenses attention on Jasper is to shorten the field of play, and limit what the offense can do. If you narrow the plays your opponent can offer up to counter the "scheme", you can better prepare the defense to anticipate. Stick to Madden folks, you all seem well suited for that kind of role playing.. Tim-
  13. Another person who can't read? Look, the OP was not intended to suggest Jasper could play ILB on every down, only a defensive scheme every so often. By scheming, you force the offense to adjust, and by doing so, and by adding the middle splitting threat, you reduce the plays the offense can attack you with, thereby increasing your success on defense BY shortening the field.. Please everyone READ, but not just the words, try to comprehend the words, and what they mean.. Tim- I like the little guy idea, but not sure if it's legal in the NFL.. Tim-
  14. Don't you folks get it? The point is causing the audible. Now why would you suspect a defensive coordinator "might" want to force the other team into doing that? Tim-
  15. hehe.. Well if he's lined up 3 - 4 feet behind the NT what esle would he be, a safety? LOL Tim- You really fancy yourself a gifted fella don't you?? We should hire YOU to think for all of us, nitwit. What would the hot route corner be doing while this run-fre WR was jumping into Jaspers "spot"... Gawd, how old are you? Tim- Since when is a rusher, pass or run, responsible for a TE? If he's rushing up the middle, his responsibility is for anything running up the middle, or he's responsible for causing mayhem up the middle splitting the offensive blocking scheme.. Is it just me, or are some people here completely unoriginal when it comes to football schemes?? Tim-
  16. Yep, we "could" play this game all day long, but I grow tired. I made my point, and will leave it at that. Tim-
  17. is he still available? If so, I agree, that would be a good pick up, IMO. Tim-
  18. By the way, the point of defense is to take the advantage away from the offense which has it going into every play. By limiting (Forcing) your opponents into areas of strength, you gain the advantage. In a strong 4 - 3 we limit what the Offense can do, buy one, shortening the field of coverage, allowing for man to man more with our coners, which, two, free's up the safety's with 20 yards to cover bubble screens, or slants, or, sweeps. With competent corners this defense works, just ask Ryan and the Jet's. They've been doing it for three years this way.. Tim-
  19. Why would he need too, exactly? Tim-
  20. Hmmm.. Two tight ends, two wide outs, assuming only one TE will be used to counter Jasper and help out the O-Line, we add them up and have 3 potential receivers, and one RB. Let's see how this plays out? We have 2 LB ready on the outside, two safety's, and two CB's to cover three receivers, and one RB.. I like our chances on that one. Especially if they run outside, which is of course what they'd have to do.. Next? Tim-
  21. How is it handicapped? How is it any different than a stronger 4 - 3? (Misspoke earlier saying stronger 3 - 4) Tim-
  22. My take using Jasper in this "scheme" (Know what a scheme is) is clear. It's not a 4-3 but a stronger 3 - 4. Ya know for football fans you all seem a little trigger happy, and completely linear in your thinking. Tim- He's NOT supposed to move in space.. Sheesh, people please read? Tim-
