  1. Ok coach, or QB, what do you do on 2nd/3rd down when you see Jasper lining up behind the NT? Come on sparky, break it to me. Tim-
  2. I don't disagree at all, however I'm thinking out loud about how we could indeed use him effectively, as thus far I believe we're setting him up for failure due to his inexperience, BUT he does have some attributes that could indeed make him a good fit. One note though. In all fairness, other than a few plays here and there from what I've seen he has been double teamed the whole pre season. he does lack some fundamental, I'll concede that point, but we don't want to lose this kid IMO. With the right coaching he can be a beast, especially if he shed a few pounds. Tim-
  3. yes, exactly, but you folks are missing the point. The point being that now with Jasper sitting off the line in the middle, the opposing team has two options, either run left, or run right, or throw. if they throw, blowing up the middle probably a win for us, and if a run, we have speedy LB's for that contingency. Think defensively, and strategically. Tim-
  4. Finally, a good cirticism. yes, all true, but the point of middle penetration is simply that; to penetrate and split the line. Tim-
  5. Thank YOU.. I see no reason fundamnentally or otherwise why we could not try it out for a few snaps.. Those that are mocking the idea are just being snarky, but have provided no substance for why they think the idea sucks.. Tim-
  6. Ah.. Skepticism.. What a shock. Look he's not an everydown linebacker, apparently people can't read? Anyway, try and stop a 400 pound man with a motor if he has 3 - 4 steps to get going? I don't see how you stop him? It's not like he will drop back into coverage.. Sheesh.. Tim-
  7. I've been watching Jasper closely, as I'm pulling for him, but as it stands he doesn't make this team, however; Given his weaknesses thus far I note that he needs a lot of work on his hands, and foot-work. That said, I would like to see Gailey try him out on run blitz, and pass blitz packages as an ILB, standing up 2 or 3 paces back from the Nose Tackle. This way what he lacks in fundamentals can be made up with his strength in weight and size. My "guess" is that if Jasper has a 3 - 4 step run at the line, he gets in, and penetrates more easily, even if they double team him, like they have been doing. I'd like to see that experiment play out for a few snaps just to see if my instincts are correct. What are your thoughts? Tim-
  8. This is my list exactly, with one slight note. I think jasper has potential and we don't want to lose him, but Heard has out played him so far this pre-season, and deserves the spot over Jasper. other than that, this is the team I'd go with. Tim-
  9. Hehehe, me either 11 games would be awesome, but it's fun to play anyway, right? Tim-
  10. hehe..^^^ Yeah whoever this Jimmy guy is, dude, trust me, Maybin doesn't make the Jets first team either. Oh, and he beat a third stringer for that sack.. Tim-
  11. Ok, although this is pointless, I'd still like to lay.. LOL @ KC- W **KC is much improved but you can run against them** Oak- W **We win here as well, oour WR tear it up*** NE- L **Lose, but with two games under our belt anything could happen** @ Cinci- W **Cincy oh poor Cincy** Philly- W **As the optimist that I am I'm going to call this close one in our favor** NYG- W **Giants are hurting, and their running backs will not be able to push through our defensive line** WASH- W **We win here as well** Jets- L - **We lose this close one** @ Dal- W **Pissed off at the overtime loss to the jets we beat up on Romo** @ MIa- W **Miami making strides, but Henne will be gun shy at this point from being beaten up by defensive tackles that our guys will scare the bejesus out of him** @ Jets- W- **Gailey figures out that the way to beat the Jets is man-to-man in the secondary and blitz the living hell out of Sanchez** Titans- L **We lose this one as our D-line is tired and beaten from the previous week** @SD- L **SD destroys through the air, wake up call for the secondary** Mia- W **At home we win in the snow** Den- W **Orten over-rated, our team wants pay back for Jones** @NE- L **Depends here, if NE is 14 - 1 we might get their second team, and if so we win this one, but if not, we lose** Just my initial meaningless thoughts.. 12. Players who have brung it so far in pre season. Not in any particular order. 1. Darius. 2. Wilson 3. Byrd 4. Corner (Except that one blown coverage) 5. Florence 7. Troupe 8. Carrington 9. Herd 10. Merriman 11. Battan 12. Wood 13. Levitre 14. Johnson 15. Spiller 16. Jackson That's all I can think of for now, and of course the kickers are playing well.. All these guys should start, IMO. Tim-
  13. I agree, they are a mess, just like us.. But Johnson was cheap, and whatever baggage he may bring is worht the price if he shows up to play on Sunday's. IMO of course. Tim-
  14. Same ranking has the Colt's ranked 8th? Really, 8th? I don't take any stock in rankings. Green Bay would've missed the playoffs last year if not for Arizona (I think), and suddenly they are the best team in the NFL?? Sorry but that kind of logic doesn't fly with me.. Tim-
  15. Actually, it's not a bad pick up for Miami.. Seems as though they're addressing their needs. Tim-
  16. What the Bills need to do is play football with CFL rules. 3 downs to make ten baby!! Gailey's offense should be centered around playing for ten with only two downs to work with. We suck at third down anyway. The result is that no play in the book is drawn up for 5 yards.. Tim-
  17. I thought I read somewhere that this was being done? I don't recall what the results were. To me, he seems to be only available to play center or r/l guard. Outside on the line he is too slow, IMO. Tim-
  18. Not sure how you can say our run blocking stank? I thought it was the only bright spot in offense tonight? Between the backs I think we went over a 100 yards rushing? Tim-
  19. Thanks! ON another note.. There were some bright spots on defense, and offensively, although I might get reamed, the offensive line did pretty well in run-blocking tonight, IMO. Danny Batten showed he has some heart, and a motor, which is encouraging. I am really starting to like Troup more, and Heard has some potential with another year under his belt he might imporve as well as Carrington has? As for our offense in general? It looked more like a number two offense, and if it doesn't get better and quick, we're in for a long season. Wait for the cuts, and seriously think about spending some money on a deep threat. T.O anyone? [wink] If we don't show teams that we're willing to throw it more than 20 yards, no matter how good Chan's plan is, we're in for a tough season.. Imagine being a D-Coordinator, and you're going up against a team that doesn't throw it more than 20 yards? Blitz on every play.. We can't just throw it down field once a game, we need to do it 4 - 5 times a game, and we need to be successful at it half the time, or Defenses are going to crush us this year.. Tim-
  20. Seems as though the faithful think only 5 - 6 wins this year? Hmmm? I'm not so sure that picking games is a wise thing to do. I remember last year in the "Pick-em" pool I play in, (and have played in for 20 years an won 11 times) where we pick each weeks winners, score, and so on, I did terrible last year? It was like, what the !@#$.. I was out of contention by mid season.. It's hard to pick footbal games in the NFL, it really is. That's why I never gave a breakdown of how I thought the Bills would go 8-8, but the reality is that there is enough room there for 8 wins from somewhere expected, and perhaps not in places we would expect.. If anything I do see us beating Miami twice. They look horrible, and all you need to do to beat the Jets is get to Sanchez.. Same can be said for Brady and NE, I just think it'll be harder to do that for 60 minutes, and you NEED to if you're going to beat the Patriots.. The Defense of the Bills is much better, and our secondary is above average.. My only real concern for our team is the right side of the O-line, well heck the entire O-Line to be honest, but it will be a fun ride no matter. I've been Bills fan and a football fan since I was knee high watching CFL games with my dad just coz we needed a fix.. I watch every game, not just my team, and I have a pretty good, and objective view of football in general. When I say the Bills could surprise this year I really mean it, especially if they put up a few wins early.. Winning, like losing is contageous, and Galley is the right kind of coach to get his team motivated for either scenario.. Go Bills! Tim-
  21. hehe.. Left over slang from my Sudbury Ontario days.. Tim-
  22. Well, I saw both NE games, and the first Miami, and Jets games. My thoughts are that if we want to have a prayer of beating any of them this year, the powers that be better damn well fix the right side of the O-Line, and toot sweet! NE's pass rush last night was impressive, and we better take notice of it. If there was a weakness at all, it was in their secondary, but getting into the secondary requires a couple of seconds for Fitz to size up the field. So my question to anyone is, are we serious about trying to make the playoffs, or are we really just looking to go 8-8 and build off that? I think we can beat Miami at least once, maybe twice this year, and "maybe" the Jets early, but from what I've seen of NE so far, we haven't got a prayer. I'll take 3-3 out of the AFC East (Who wouldn't) but I fear that even that might be a pipe dream. I've been scanning the schedule looking for ways yo make 8-8, and I think it's very doable, but we're going to need a lot of luck in keeping the boys healthy, and some bounces to go our way if we're going to accomplish it. Oh and since this is my first thread started, I thought I would give my opinion on Evans and why "I" thought we moved him. Aside from some of the other opinions I've read here, I think that Galley knows that Fitz isn't going to have the ball long enough in his hands this year to get the ball 40, 50 yards down field, and since Evan's was mediocre at best at swinging into the center of the field, he really doesn't fit what I think Galley's plan is. I think Galley ideally wants to be a run first offense, similar to the Bears, and I personally think it's the right move goven the level of development of the young Bills. What are your thoughts? Tim-
  23. What are the folks on the Cincy forums saying? I don't want Vick either, talent aside his character is not what fits in Buffalo, but if this is true, it's a big scandal, IMO. Tim-
