  1. I know we're all looking for good signs right now, but in this day and age, I'm inclined to think that Tim is just posting clickbait. One source isn't significant. And when you read his post, there's plenty of caveats that we COULD be sold by October but more likely will be after that. If Wawrow posts something with multiple sources I'll be convinced, but take this one with a big grain of salt for now.
  2. Generally, if they suspect the tumor is local and hasn't spread, the assumption is that surgery is sufficient...docs will only prescribe chemo if they have reason to believe the cancer may have spread (no clean margins on the removed tissue, lymph nodes, etc.). Right now, for Jimbo, it depends on whether it's a local recurrence or if the cancer has spread (in my mind, it's hard to picture how the cancer could recur locally given that his entire jaw was reconstructed, but we just don't know at this point). Totally agree that it's senseless that this would happen to someone like #12, who has already been through so much. I was personally devastated after Tim Russert passed away because he was such a great ambassador for and champion of Buffalo. I'm keeping Jim in my prayers right now, not just for his family, but for the community that he means so much to.
  3. I'm not a fan of Rick Reilly's, but I think he hit the nail on the head when he called JK a modern-day Job. Just so sad that he's gone through so much over the years.
  4. Dammit. Another reminder of just how fragile life is. Met him for the first time when he was out in DC last year lobbying for a prenatal screening bill in Congress. Doesn't seem like this could happen to a better person. Keeping him and his families in my thoughts and prayers.
  5. BREAKING: They're right! Florio picked us as a wild card team the year after we signed Mario, but we've continued to fall short. Until this team shows anything different, I really wouldn't take the criticisms personally - it's a shot at an incompetent front office that keeps letting its fans down.
  6. Say what you will, but Barry Switzer does have one thing no Buffalo Bills coach has ever won. Namely, a Super Bowl ring.
  7. This franchise continues to amaze. Remember a few years ago when Buddy said the goal was to draft guys, develop them, and keep them? So we let Byrd and Levitre walk, but at least we signed ourselves a kicker today.
  8. But hey, it's cool, we did sign a kicker today. Only 23 starting positions to go...
  9. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result. 14 years without the playoffs. Ample cap room. But we're thinking about letting another talented player go just because he won't sign on the cheap? I'm sorry, but if Whaley can't even get this one deal done, looks like the new boss is the same as the old boss.
  10. WKYC in Cleveland reporting that no offer was made over dinner tonight - fingers crossed that he's staying...
  11. If Russ and Co. are serious about breaking with the losing culture of the last decade and a half, they'll lock him up long-term. Other franchises do this with their core group of players in order to establish that nucleus that the rest of the team is built around. Byrd is young, top five at his position, and by all accounts a good locker room guy - there's no reason not to get a deal done, especially considering how much room we've got under the cap. If Byrd walks, it's just another example of how far this franchise has fallen since the Polian/Butler era.
  12. Yes, we definitely don't want to promote short posts - http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/158485-emmitt-smiths-2013-mock-draft-hilarious/
  13. In a perfect world, we'd dump Marrone tomorrow like the Browns are dumping Chud, and then throw money at the Chin until he agrees to save us from another 14 years in the NFL wilderness - https://www.facebook.com/BillCowherToBuffalo But this isn't a perfect world, so we're probably looking at 1.5 more years of mediocrity followed by bringing in Romeo Crennel as our new coach. Doomed.
  14. Shocked I'm saying this, but Sully killed it with his column today. 100% accurate.
  15. Interesting perspective from Barnwell that quantifies how much the Toronto series hurts competitively and how the financial benefits just aren't worth it. Discussion begins after the section on the Redskins - http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/10066990/bill-barnwell-week-13-nfl
  16. Promo, this is a serious question (I mean no disrespect), so please treat it as such, but are you a plant from One Bills Drive? Only reason I ask is that I'm tired of people complaining that we don't sell out for a perennial loser...the last time we had a winning record this late in the season, Bill Clinton was president.
  17. Git er done, Whaley. #kidding #kindof
  18. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. After 13 years of this, the burden of proof is on One Bills Drive - until we make the playoffs, Bills fans can be as pessimistic as they want in my book.
  19. Fwiw, a buddy of mine saw him at the Preakness Stakes this month. Said he was drinking on the bus ride over but not anywhere near to excess (apparently a former slot receiver for the Pats/Fins was pretty wasted, but that's another story). Anyways, just wanted to pass it along - hope Jimbo's doing ok.
  20. Thought the most interesting part of the press release they just sent out was the quote from Roger Goodell - "Russ Brandon is a dynamic, forward-thinking leader. He is a proven executive with extensive experience in the operation of the Bills. He is committed to the Buffalo region and understands the dynamics of the NFL. Ralph Wilson's decision is a positive step to enhance the stability of the franchise." Take it for what you will. Russ is a marketing expert, so it makes sense that he and Berchtold would want a quote from the commissioner on the long-term future, but here's to hoping this actually helps keep the Bills in Western New York.
  21. And remind me how that year turned out? Oh, right, he lost to a team that was handpicked by Polian - the guy we fired back in '93...
  22. Williams, Mularkey, Jauron, Gailey? What standards?
  23. I mean that both of them succeeded in spite of themselves. They both had loaded rosters - this year Lovie had Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, Matt Forte, a solid o-line, Urlacher, Briggs, Peanut Tillman, and Devin Hester and still didn't make the playoffs. Not exactly Coach of the Year material.
  24. Exactly. Enough of getting coaches on the cheap. Go big or go home (remember when we signed Chuck Knox away from LA?) - if we don't get a Gruden/Cowher/Schottenheimer type this is just going to be another wasted offseason.
