I have to admit I thought they were a fraud all season. They played the easiest cup cake schedule against a lot of garbage. However watching them last week, they looked really good against a decent Giants team. I think part of the problem for many fans like me, is the utter unfairness of it all that Philly could win it all after a such a short rebuild and we are stuck yet again with nothing. Perhaps the jealousy clouds my better judgement. I know one thing though that I havent changed my opinion on is that their coach seems like a huge Dbag. LOL but I'm sure Philly fans can overlook that or better yet probably admire it!!

Saffold said guys were "exhausted" this week and "out of gas"

I really hope this is the case. I'm a little worried that Beane will make 2 mistakes with this. 1. He will value loyalty more than logic with Frazier. 2. He will see all the pressure from Fans and the Media and assume they don't know what they are talking about and give Frazier a 2nd chance. Too many times with the NFL and the Bills especially, you see curious decisions made by GMs or coaches because they are either not too bright, cant think on their feet, are based on emotion (like loyalty or religious belief) or just to be contrary to fans/media (and show that you cant be pressured). I hope that Beane can detach himself from this tendency when he decides on Frazier. Many times this season, I think the fans on this site have been more correct in their coaching or player personnel decisions than Beane and the coaches. Which in such a big money league is bizarre. Frazier (and Dorsey to a lesser extent) failed hugely last Sunday. Dorsey I can maybe understand but Frazier should be put out to pasture for his incompetence. -
I had a couple of thoughts/questions on Hamlin. 1. Will he be allowed back to play? Its seems very risky for him to play football ever again after that freaky injury and near death experience and I wonder if the Bills or any team would want that risk. 2. Hamlin seemed like a decent talent but nothing special before his injury. Oddly Just before he got hurt, I was frustrated he got burned by the Bengals pass attack in that game. I went back and looked at his stats, they are very ordinary. So his impact on the team wasnt huge and I guess if he didnt play again, it wouldnt matter that much? Or is that too harsh a conclusion on such a small sample size.

Never said it was "solely" on the D. But 13 seconds was 100% on Frazier. This game I would still say the majority of the blame still goes to him. Dorsey has a big share too. But taken together (last and this year) Frazier just doesnt have it when he needs to. Dorsey didnt seem to either last Sunday but I would say the jury is still out on him at best.

Which one was worse ? 13 seconds or Cinci fail ?
Livinginthepast replied to Repulsif's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Chiefs were up 21-3 in that game and were cruising until Eric Bienemy got stupid and Mahomes got too cute. The Bengals were down and out but were gifted huge momentum with each dumb move. The collapse in that game was Billsian ! Even when the Bengals got up late, KC had a chance to win it in the final minute yet completely blew it. The Bengals deserve a ton of credit for not folding in that game and it was a superb comeback but they were gifted that victory by the Chiefs bumbling and arrogance. Had they come into Buffalo, We would have had huge momentum after knocking off the Chiefs and without all the major injury trauma of this season. I think we win comfortably this time last year. -

Absolutely zero chance that would have happened as it did on Sunday. The Bengals were not ready for primetime last year. This year though they have matured and made a huge leap up. The SB game last year was the Bengals to win and they werent even close to the quality enough to finish! -
Well Frazier's defensive style is from the 80s so it fits.

Frank Reich named new Head Coach of Panthers

A Reich organized offense would have been the finest gelato compared to Dorsey's low budget vanilla! -
Old Buffalo Bills Message Board
Livinginthepast replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Thats where I first experienced the concept of a "Troll". Weirdly I dont remember the Bills fans that posted or much of the discussion (the Bills were so bad at that time) but I do remember some persistent ahole called "Man from Ct" (Pats fan) Who literally non stopped posted about the Bills choking in SBs. I do remember that Jets group too! -

How about the Buffalo Bills usenet news group? Now that was some vintage tech. I think you accessed that from outlook express? -

Damar Hamlin and the End of the Season
Livinginthepast replied to JackKemp's topic in The Stadium Wall
Did the Bengals learn anything from the first game. I definitely think so. Their first possession was excellent, and the 2nd was working until the Hamlin injury. Unfortunately, with the horror of the moment the Bills and coaches wiped the first 8 mins out of their minds. Totally understandable. But 2 weeks later they should have revisited game film and quickly understood that had the game progressed we might have experienced a historic drubbing. At this point, they should have adjusted their defense to counter what they experienced. This they totally failed on. -
I thought the Beane presser had some elements of mea culpa and a small dose of accountability but in the end who cares. I dont think they are going to fire either of the coordinators and McD is a sacred cow that will not be touched or even criticized for his actions. Many of the questions yesterday were far too respectful from the media. It might have been nice for someone (Jerry Sullivan .........cough.........cough) to be there to be a Sht disturber. I dont think Beane felt enough heat for what happened and it certainly wont be coming from the Pegulas.

Can Sean McDermott Coach the Bills to a Championship?
Livinginthepast replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the Bills can win a championship but it will be in DESPITE of their coaches not because of them. -
I think the Bills got a stop there only because the Bengals need room to run their offense and within the 10 yard line there isnt the optimum amount of space. Frazier cant run a soft zone with Dbs standing 10- 15 yards back because they literally dont have 10-15 yards from the LOS. Ironically Fraziers soft zone is forced by the field position to be closer to the receivers making its closer to man.

100% this was yet another example of McD, Dorsey and Frazier not having any contingency plan in place. It should have been obvious after the first Bengals possession that footing on the field was a problem. It was quite evident even watching on TV so Frazier should have been able to not just see it but test out what he had seen by walking on the field. Dorsey is up in the booth so perhaps a spotter on the field might have made that aware to him. McD no excuse. It was obvious the field was slick and players were having issues. He could have easily spoken with Frazier and changed things up and started playing closer to the line of scrimmage or man coverage. It also seemed like our pass rushers werent getting much burst or maneuverability. Once again McD has to change it up with Frazier in game. In short each coach should have adjusted to the weather and to what the Bengals were doing and they failed utterly. They were literally deer in the headlights or in another appropriate analogy, the Bills were like flies trying in vain to get through a screen door. Trying hard but due to poor strategy, repeatedly failing and wasting their efforts.

I was just thinking that, we need to get more members in the SB all time loser club. Its lonely with just the Vikings and us!

Yesterday I was indifferent to Sal C's apologies for the coaching disaster that Sunday was, but today? OMG Sal went full apology mode for McD. His take this morning , which I found mindboggling, was that McD gets conservative in the 2nd half of games as a default position to help the team have a chance. ..............HUH? He then went on to guess that maybe McD was thinking that when he punted in the 2nd half at 4th and 2, that the Bills D could "get a stop or 2" to get back in the game. HUH #2??? Now I know these takes are guesses by Sal and are big stretches by him. But Sal doesn't seem to get that if his hunches are true, they are not excuses for McD but further examples of his incompetence as coach. Punting when you are down 14 pts in an elimination game? Punting and thinking that you could get a "stop or 2" when your defense has been completely ineffective at stopping the opposing offense quickly all day? Sal please stop with the excuses and give us an honest assessment. You dont have to go full Jerry Sullivan on us but stop with the excuses.
