Josh Allen is looking a lot more like the 2019 version

Brady won 2 Super Bowls in his first 4 years as a starter…. -
I noticed it, and I love it. I think we are better in 3 LB sets.

9/19/21 Week 2 Gameday Thread Bills @ Dolphins 1st Half
Mango replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well…Allen blows this first half. That has nothing to do with number of attempts. Not sure that’s even debatable I have been pounding the table all week that the issue is and has not been run specific with this team, it’s their ability to consistently pick up 3-5 yards with high efficiency. Outside of one giant run, Singletary has not been reliable for that…at all. The Bills are going to struggle against a very physical Washington defense as well. As we’ve said in the past. This team runs through Allen. He’s had 6 bad quarters, and 6 bad offensive performances. -

Bills have the ninth oldest roster
Mango replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I posted something similar a few weeks ago. I like Beane. I think he’s don’t a good job of building a team. I think his predecessor was better at building a roster. 10 times out of 10 I’ll take the team guy. Our depth chart is old, especially for key contributors and starters. Our starting WRs average age is 31. All last year we talked about how an aging Star L. would be this teams saving grace for 2021. Our best players, sans Allen, are previous regimes picks or FA. Tre, Poyer, Hyde, Hughes, Dawkins, and Milano. Are all the previous FO. I love me some Josh, he is the shinning star in the draft classes. I think Davis and Oliver are going to have great careers. And I think Edmunds should stick around but only for the right price. But they have to do better at getting draft picks to make a bigger impact. -

It’s not a huge shock. I know we call the team “young” but we aren’t. This FO have filled a lot of holes through FA. Basically the entire OL sans Dawkins, plus most of the WR room. Jordan and Poyer are FA pickups pre Beane. Hughes, Star, Klein, and Addison are all up there in age and seeing significant playing time. -
This was the Tom Brady way for a while there. Step 1. Be Tom Brady Step 2. Get Old Step 3. Drop a couple games early in the season Step 4. Win the rest of your games Step 5. Win Super Bowl

But how does he look in shorts?

I am not considering Flores or Miami to be some defensive juggernaut, but this is also only his 3rd year and he inherited one of the worst defenses in the league in year one, that made large strides in year two. It isn't wild to think that they will be better in year 3 on that side of the ball. I am not predicting a Bills loss by any means. This is fair, and I agree, they are not generally a physical defense. I am just sort of thinking into the future with Flores at the helm.
-
I think that people underestimate the Dolphins. Are the great? No. But I think they will be a very strong contender for a WC this season. Given the trouble the Bills have had with physical defenses, I think Flores and the Dolphins are a team to keep an eye on going forward given his time at New England. Prior to last years million hold outs in NE McD has never put up 20 points on BB. I wouldn't be shocked if MIA gave us more trouble this year. The best thing going for Buffalo is Josh> Tua. Prediction, Bills cover the spread. 28-23.

I agree, I liked the kid last year and was hoping he could become available to back up Josh. I still do next year if Mitch finds a new gig.

NFL TV Schedule and Maps: Week 2, 2021
Mango replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is always odd to me when Fox has the rights to games, and has such huge areas (either pop or square miles) with no games what so ever. Like why not just put the Bills game on in Burlington? Or NO vs. CAR in Vegas? -
I always liked Heinicke. I think he is a quality back up. In fact, I hope either WFT is the back up to Josh next year if Mitch takes off.
-
I wouldn’t call the Bills frauds but they really do struggle a lot against physical teams on either side of the ball. I don’t get why they don’t have that in them. I understand why it might give some people pause. But frauds…. We will most likely have a tough time against KC, TB, TEN, NO.

How did Rousseau play against the Steelers?
Mango replied to GreggTX's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a wide range. That’s basically the difference between Aaron Schobel and Chris Kelsay… -
I think a lot went right for the Bills last year and it isn’t wild to think we may see some regression to the mean. This team could be closer to 12-5 than 13-3 or the almost14-2 if not for a wild final play by Arizona I think the board regularly over rates Daboll. He’s not terrible, and Tom Graham’s article is knee jerk at best. But the hype last year was just that, hype. I expect to see Allen be significantly better than 2019, but think it’s very likely he does not string together some of the performances he did last year. Long and short, fans came out over hyped this year AND Allen/Daboll laid an egg week one. We are now dealing with the emotional aftermath.

Right. I think you elude to the issue. The issue isn’t necessary the “short pass to replace the run” it’s that they don’t even attempt to use it, or try to run the ball regularly, or try get the TE involved regularly to start picking up 3-5 yards with relative certainty. I do think trying to turn our run game into something it’s not with the same personnel over and over again (OL and RB1) is more of an uphill climb than changing some of the route concepts in the passing game to help facilitate certain situations/match ups. Ultimately I think that also helps the run game as well.

Our Solution for the Offense....Josh Gordon
Mango replied to aristocrat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People are probably getting sick of me posting this. But there are a lot of issues that were also around last year. We can run the ball more/better. But sometimes that feels like running into a brick wall. Almost literally. We can also get a very similar result by scheming quicker pass plays. Allen and Daboll have a tendency to run long developing plays, and or scramble to buy time to make a big play. For example, Ben got the ball out in 2.3 seconds last week to Allen’s 2.78. Being able to lean heavily on those concepts when needed should do wonders for this offense. -

What will the changes be at the stadium?
Mango replied to Jpsredemption's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe I am wrong but I assumed that the Pegula’s managed a good portion of the game day experience. As somebody who was at the game, there was zero enforcement of masks in the concourse at all. -

With the new County and State Regs that keep coming out regarding back to work and vaccines. I’m curious how this effects guys like Beasley, Davis etc. going forward. Like my office re shut down to go over new regs to address policy. If I cannot go to the stadium without a vaccine (I can) why can Beasley, Davis, etc.
