  1. Think about it this way. Last season the Bills offense was actually relatively easy to defend from a schematic POV, because you only had to defend 30 yards of dirt at most regardless of down and distance. Without even an average deep threat else where, Gabe Davis struggled bigtime as the sole threat downfield, and defenses didn't really adjust a thing. They set either 2 or 1 safety 20 yards down field, one of them went deep, and everyone else sank down. Diggs wasn't that effective of a deep threat, and defenses felt they could run with him past 10-15 yards. With the addition of Samuel, you inject pure speed with addition of being a real football player. It doesn't matter where he lines up, you can attack those safeties from inside or outside. But Samuel will only be PART of that solve. The other part? Someone like Ladd McConkey who's the other deep threat. It allows for versatility. If you're on 1st and 10 or 2nd and medium, you have different packages that can make use of 1 or both deep guys, and you can use that short to intermediate offense that Allen proved he can run this past season. Defenses starting to squat? Well put in both speed guys, add in Diggs and Kincaid to the underneath, and you're either creating deeper mismatches, or forcing zones and YAC openings in the middle and short. This is all about deployment of weapons. Bills can attack any down and distance and create matchups they like
  2. Project what he can be with Josh Allen and Joe Brady
  3. Davis has been criminally underrated around here. He was literally the only deep threat the Bills had. What were people expecting?
  4. Obviously dudes like McDuffie and Sneed - both excellent physical man corners, are gonna win their fair share of matchups against the Bills mighty mights, but the fact of the matter is that they're fast enough that safeties are still gonna check that matchup and cheat just a bit, and then you have an elite route runner like Diggs now coming off the LOS.
  5. Samuel had a TON of targets coming out of the back field. You think it's easier to catch a target coming out of the backfield, running screens, slants, etc or almost exclusive running skinny posts, fly routes, corners, and other deep routes? He can play both. This is the modern NFL you don't need a super physical guy out there, bunch of ways to win off the snap even when lined up on the LOS
  6. That's a good one but McConkey play the outside more naturally - and would be an excellent late RD1 pick up
  7. Very misleading as they've had two very different roles
  8. He was a Gadget player at Ohio State, a better version of Isiah McKenzie, so that's not at all what he was supposed to be. He started playing more on the outside in the NFL, but the real problem was this, here are his QBs: Cam Newton (Healthy) Cam Newton/Kyle Allen/Taylor Heinicke - avg 12.5 per reception Kyle Allen/Cam Newton (broken)/Will Grier Teddy Bridgewater/PJWalker Alex Smith/Dwayne Haskins/Kyle Allen Taylor Heinicke/carson wentz/sam howell sam howell Who his QB will be in Buffalo Josh Allen
  9. For those who have questions about Samuel playing the outside, note this from 2018 https://www.pff.com/news/pro-panthers-curtis-samuel-developing-into-a-quality-option-at-outside-wide-receiver And then also take a look at his 2020 season and who happened to be his OC That offense had DJ Moore and CMC so those are decent for 3rd banana
  10. This is an elite specialization pick up from Beane. This is PERFECTION. Y'all realize what this going to do for Diggs and whomever the Bills pick in the draft to replace Gabe? Now the Bills can threaten the safeties in multiple ways to open up the intermediate and short, or even isolate corners and safeties to make deep routes more dangerous
  11. And that's exactly the ginormous hole the offense was missing
  12. Which was where Beane was at with this
  13. Putting Josh’s cap hit at 60M next season, which means he’s gonna get a new extension next summer which will make him the 2nd highest paid player in the sport
  14. They have enough front line talent on the DL, especially if they get back Jones. They need depth there. But they need front line players at safety, and I'll be honest, an upgrade over Taylor Rapp. I'll be dissappointed if the Bills don't add a starter at Safety and a deep threat at WR - either a starter or secondary deep threat
  15. That's not how that works Totally could have done that. Wonder if Beane sent in an offer
  16. Would have loved him in Buffalo but that was a non-starter as ain't no way Bills were gonna invest this much in a safety
  17. They're going to have like 35M in caps space tied up with Kirk and Davis
  18. Noah Brown is fine, but only if you add a speedy deep threat in the draft or FA. Brown would be a good 2nd banana deep threat
  19. I mean they only have 3 DEs period. So gotta find like 3 DEs
  20. They came in with 40M. Hurts has a very nice 13M cap hit as his contract is backloaded. They only had 7 guys with cap hits over 10M and just one over 15M. There's a reason Howie Rosman is considered among the best out there
  21. Boring got the Bills like the 2nd most wins over the last 3-4 years or something like that. I'm good with that kind of boring
  22. So an interesting thought with JJ. Vikes will have like 100M+ in cap space next season, what's stopping them from giving JJ a 6 year deal where year 1 pays him like 60M
