  1. SO if we take into account the original "called by the official (s)" sequence of events - 1.) Rothlisberger given a TD as he crossed goal line 2.) Rothlisberger fumbles after crossing goal line which equates to a TD 3.) the fumble after crossing goal line is irrelevant because rule states that fumbles after crossing goal line is not a fumble and TD stays 4.) no need to exam closely who recovered the "fumble of the ball after a TD was scored". The key point here is Rothlisberger was ruled to have crossed the goal line prior to fumbling. If he was originally ruled to have fumbled before crossing goal line, then determining who recovered the fumble in the pile of players would have been then relevant.
  2. Emphatically disagree. Personal experience. The 2nd best football game I ever saw was the Indy Colts vs Baltimore Ravens playoff game after the 2006 season (the best game was Patriots vs Rams in Super Bowl). That Playoff game was the field goal game. Indy won 15 - 6. Viniateri hit 3 (or was it 4) 50+ yarders. M&T Stadium that day was the loudest Stadium, outside a Rock Concert, I ever heard. The flyover was 4 Warthog (tankbusters). The Stadium is designed to capture and hold the sound. Warthog's have a heavy noise (so to speak). M&T that day was totally amazing. The Stadium rocked until AV hit his 5th and final field goal with like 3 minutes left to go. The Ravens fans are very, very passionate and nasty should an enemy fan act like an idiot (Bills fans much the same )
  3. Bell has started either his 10th or 11th game yesterday. I am not speaking for everyone, but I have personally seen improvement with him. I think he is steadily getting better. I will say it again, with our #1, where ever it may land - 1, 2, 3 overall, The Bills should draft the very best D Line man available. With our 2nd round choice, barring any decision to stick with or not with Ryan Fitzpatrick, we then target a QB. However, Fitz hasn't been playing bad either. With a more respectable Defense, the Bills could / should / would be maybe 3 - 3 this year. One thing to note with regards to yesterday's game vs Baltimore - going in to the season, the weakest point of Baltimore's D was going to be Pass Rush and Pass D. Not trying to take away any positive's from how the Bills performed. Attacking the weakness of the Ravens D is a tribute to Gailey realizing an opponents weakness and going after it. I spend time over the summer with plenty of Ravens fans in Ocean City, MD. After the Bills, Ravens are my #2 team. Going in to the season, I personally had the Ravens and Jets targeted as the two Super AFC teams. Not anymore. Jets, Steelers, Titans, Patriots now are the AFC (and NFL) Super teams. Ravens have a lot of cleaning up to do based on their performance vs the Bills if they want to hang with the AFC top 4.
  4. I really wouldn't have a problem with trading down from the #1 spot to somewhere between 3 - 8 or 3 - 10. I will say it again: first, draft the best D Lineman available, then grab the Franchise QB somewhere later in Round 1 or early Round 2. The Number 1 Pick should equal the trading partners Number 1 in slots 3 - 10 + a 2nd rounder. The mess that the Bills are in is not Buddy Nix's fault. It is the fault of Marv Levy and Ralph Wilson. Outside of Maybin, Buddy Nix has helped with two back to back solid drafts. 2011 will be solid for the Bills as well.
  5. I don't think this is a silly post at all. We had another discussion about the same topic last week. IMHO, if a the top D lineman that is available with the #1 people feel will be one of the very best for 10 + years, take the D Lineman and grab the QB late in Round 1 or with the 1st pick in round two. Buffalo is one of four teams that needs to draft a QB. others - Oakland, Jacksonville, maybe Arizona, maybe Cleveland. My gutt tells me that a stud QB, maybe not one of the top projected three, will fall to pick 33.
  6. I agree with you as well. Maybin will have to learn how to use his speed and become an expert in the "hand fight" if he is going to want to succeed in this league. "Hand Fighting" is something that Jason Taylor had to learn and is one of the all time very best football players at it. Wing Chun, Daito Ryu, Jui Jitsui all have great hand "offensive techniques" that could help Aaron tremendously. What doenst help Aaron is that the Bills switched to a 3-4 when he was drafted to be an end in the 4-3. but, that was the situation for Jason Taylor as well.
  7. I think Luck may stay in school. Grabbing the top (next Bruce Smith or Reggie White) with #1 and then grabbing saying the QB from Florida State in the 2nd round would really set the tone for the franchise.
  8. The 2011 draft will be stacked with QB's. Seeing the all the holes on Defense, would you folks consider taking the best DE or NT #1 / #2 overall then grabbing the future QB of the franchise late in round 1 or at the start of round 2? O Lines and D Lines are the foundation to build eventual championships.
  9. Not opposed, although I think we are hard pressed to get anything for him. He is awful.
  10. Buddy Nix did not bring this on him self. He walked in to a situation that was completely broke because of the owner and the previous two general managers.
  11. Below "below average" drafts will absolutely cripple a franchise for at least 4 years. Thank you Mr Wilson for pushing to bring Marv Levy back as GM in 12/2005 and absolutely tarnishing the shine Marv Levy's name once had.
  12. Maybe the insider who has knowledge of the inter workings of the players is right. however, until that is proven, I have to think that something happened within the locker room of the team for the quick release to occur. If Trent was really that liked by players, then I am stunned to see how much harder the team played Sunday when Fitzpatrick started. Sorry, but something doesn't smell right and I think seeing the players play much harder for Fitz was all that Gailey needed.
  13. What I saw today is a much more competitive demeanor of the team. Was it Fitz? Maybe, well probably. Last week what was evident is that Trent lost the team. Fitz, even with his certain level of skill set, had the team rallied and had folks playing hard. I am OK with today. I saw the Bills being competitive and I saw them trying very hard. I still don't know how NE got 200 yards rushing. When I saw that, i was......what??? Overall, young guys from last two drafts (except Maybin) played competitive and hard and we had a chance.
  14. I agree that Marv Levy has set this franchise back at least three years. Good head coach, but he tarnished his legacy as the out matched GM. Just a shame. Not only should Haloti Ngata be a Bill, so should either Adrian Peterson or Patrick Willis.
  15. I am a big fan of Buddy Nix. I feel he has strung back to back solid drafts for the Bills. He seta foundation, and we are building on that. Regarding Modrak, I have said this numerous times. Modrak has been over ruled on many occasion's by Tom Donahoe and Marv Levy. Modrak is a fine talent evaluator. Maybe if the Bills listened more, we would have hit on more first rounders than we have this last decade.
  16. I don't think the Bills will be 2 - 14. They will however loss more than they win. The schedule is brutal this year. Mix a brutal schedule in with a team that will have 5 of the 11 Offensive Starters with 2 years or less experience and the Defense switching to the 3 - 4, yeah it will be tough. I do believe, however, that you will not see the Bills get blown out this in games they lose. The Bills will be very competitive in every game. Chan and Buddy have laid a nice foundation that the organization is building on. 12 players form the last two drafts are on the roster. I haven't counted the amount of un-drafted free agents. this season timing will not work in the Bills favor. But the future of the organization is definitely pointing up, and we haven't said that in a long time.
  17. Deception has been used my many successful head coaches. This is where using the media to an organizations advantage comes in to play. Don Shula, Jimmy Johnson, chuck Noll I came to learn used deception to "bate" the opponent in one direction and then drive in another. Another example is the 1990 Bills Playoff Game 1 vs Miami. If you all recall, Jim Kelly five weeks earlier hurt his knee vs the Giants on that awesome Saturday afternoon game. The week leading up to the Bills / Dolphins game, Marv Levy did a great job of "Well, we just don't know where Kelly is at.....the cold weather really plays havoc on an injury, especially the knee....." When game time hit, Kelly was lights out vs the fins. Deception is also used by Belicheck
  18. "Keep your friends close, enemies closer." One of my favorite Sales books. Good call my fellow Bills fan.
  19. So i have to go on record and disagree with the Modrak bashing. I started a string last about Tom Modrak. He has been over ruled a number of times in the seasons he has been employed. the most resecnt over ruling - Maybin for Brian Cushing. He was previously over ruled regarding trading up to draft Adrian Peterson or Patrick Willis. He was also over ruled in 2006 when he wanted the Bills to draft Haloti Ngata, Marv instead drafts Donte Whitner. Modrak is a great talent evaluator. i think He and Buddy Nix have crafted back to back solid drafts.
  20. Yes I agree Perception is reality and I was adding that when I walked away from my PC. Totally agree. Perception is reality in everything we do. When the perception of a franchise is bad, that is a tough perception to turn around.
  21. I know another topic was created discussing JP. If this is redundant, sorry. To all you Bills fans, be happy. Since JP left Buffalo, he has not looked like the same player the Bills had in late 06, 07 and majority of 08. JP looks a lot less of the talented left tackle the Eagles thought they were getting, and I think the Eagles are starting to realize it. I like to think that come draft time, very rarely will (32 organizations) X (7 rounds) of drafting will miss on an un-drafted free agent. There are reasons why a player is not thought of highly enough to be included in a teams draft. Who knows, maybe the knock on JP coming out of college was a very bad attitude, one that is unmotivated when he gets what he wants. He got his money now he could careless about taking the next step in his career and being the leader the Eagles desparately need.
  22. Up to when Buddy Nix was hired, the other three teams had one thing in common that the Bills didn't- "A Foundation". When John Butler left for San Diego, he took from the organization with him a sense of a fundamental base. Tom Donahoe tried to carry on the foundation, and out of respect to TD, the foundation was getting built. However, the Bills were victimized by close losses every year that kept them out of the playoffs. In my humble opinion, Marv Levy missed the mark on building a foundation for the organization and that mistake set the Bills back at least three years. Marv's draft's were average at best and the majority of his Free Agent contracts he pushed hard for hurt the salary cap. Buddy Nix's two draft's have begun to restock and retool the organization and he has also rid the organization of the absurd veteran contracts Levy had a big hand in. I saw in the paper recently the Bills were one of the cheapest franchises contract wise. That is a good thing because when free agency hits in 2012 (I believe there is no football next year), Nix will have the credibility to look Free Agents in the eye and say the Bills are going to be good, here is why, join us if you want. And it is because of the foundation he is building.
