Official Bills Dolphins game thread
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow! Just, wow! When I thought Chan Gailey couldn't use errr NOT USE Brad Smith any worse. Mind boggling. This is the type of stuff that should get coaches fired. I do seriously Chan Gailey's personnel decisions. He sure does like using players out of position. Brad Smith ISN'T a WR and you don't use him there in the wildcat formation...wow! -
What's your favorite chili recipe?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in Off the Wall Archives
This is superb advice especially the part about the process of adding the flavor of dry spices to a chile. I'm impressed! Ancho chilli peppers are money, aren't they? -

Actually Guinness and unsweetened chocolate works well together in dishes like chili. Those two ingredients work with each other as oppossed as acting as contrasting complements to one another. -

I agree. A nice blend of peppers adds killer flavor. The thing about hot chili peppers is they have tremendous flavor which is often overlooked because of the heat. In terms of what I call and mean by "real chili" it is in context to chili competitions in the United States. Beans are a no-no. I disagree with this however. -

I can't tell you my chili recipe but it does contain one special ingredient and that is unsweetened chocolate is added at one point. Sounds weird but they are actually a traditional complement with eachother - chili peppers and chocolate. It's not meant to be noticed, but offers balance. My Chili recipe wouldn't be considered "real chili" either because traditional chile doesn't contain any beans. But I love beans in chili - all sorts of different kinds combined. Same with peppers both hot and sweet. Getting the beef nice and brown with a nice fond on the bottom of the pot is the start to a great chili. O.K that's two hints. -
Chris Kelsay's stats
BuffaloBillsForever replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Couldn't have Aaron Maybin played this role at the very worst? At least we would have known 100% without a shadow of a doubt if the kid could play or not after a full season of "real" in game snaps. That's what I don't get. You keep and overpay and overplay (starting) an expensive, grossly overpaid vet but cut a disappointing yet unproven high 1st round draft pick with little NFL experience. -
4th round pick for Evans looks like a steal
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You know whats going to happen Jerry? It's going to be like Lynch from a year ago. He will make ONE 1 big play for a TD in the playoffs and people will say "I told you so" and start to go ape about trading him. Those stats are horrendous btw Jerry Jabber. -
These are guys that I think will be on the hot seat. Norv Turner - Too much talent on that team and an ultra week division. Not a good head coach. Tom Coughlin (if they don't make the playoffs) Jason Garrett (team has collapsed partially due to dumb coaching and Jerry won't be happy if they don't make the playoffs.) Andy Reid - Always had talented teams, never can get the job done. The year they spend, spend...they collapse. Long tenure, time to move on. Who else?

4th round pick for Evans looks like a steal
BuffaloBillsForever replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Steelers didn't lose because of Evans. They lost because of turnovers and they couldn't stop the run. Evans is irrelevant on that team and he even looks slower than when he was starting to decline with the Bills. The decline in speed hurts him on the only thing he can do and that is run straight and deep. -

Evans is like Flaccos 4th or 5th option. -
Haley is gone, and then we should . . .
BuffaloBillsForever replied to billswi2000's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh misread the OP, I thought he was talking about firing Gailey. That is what I was posting in context too. Yeah, I don't think Edwards will be here next season. -

What happened to the Wildcat?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. They have ruined Brad Smith. -
Brad Smith wouldn't start on any other team than the Buffalo Bills as a WR. His talents are being wasted unless you design gadget plays out of that WR position for him. Re: See the touchdown highlights on the Skins Vs. Patriots game.

Please re-install Perry Fewell as Bills HC
BuffaloBillsForever replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh, no. It wouldn't surprise me though Fewell continuing to be on a head coaching lists to fill the "Rooney Rule". He has been interviewed many times. Never have been given the job. -
Brad Smith is playing out of position at WR. MIA is what you are going to get out of Smith at this position in the long term. He's not a WR. Unfortunately, like a lot of things with the schemes and positions, Brad Smith is just one example of not being utilized correctly.
-
These are two MAJOR things and he is either unwilling to make changes to these philosphies or he doesn't know how to coach this team otherwise. The 34 has never worked since he was hired (actually he employed the 34 in his hiring press conference even before evaluating the team). The hybrid 34 should have been ditched after last season. We clearly don't have the linebackers to run this scheme. The only scheme is 43 IMO. The spread has been solved since the Jets game and Chan has made absolutely no changes - even abandoning the run more! I don't get how players, playing out of their natural positions or not suited to a certain scheme can be successful in the long term. 43 Vs 34 Vs Hybrid Spread Offense
-
Not talking about this offseason because I don't think any changes will be made besides maybe some positional coaches. Now if we don't make the playoffs next year, who would Two Bills Drive want to run the show as GM? That would probably means another HC, but HC candidates can be for another thread. This is dedicated to GM. Are there any up and coming young guys? What about the vet names?

Fitz was again erratic and inaccurate. If people don't realize this yet I don't know what to say. Teams know it too that he can't hit the intermediate to long routes. They stack up with short zones and...BAM...interception! Fitz forces it into coverage. He has been an interception machine in the last 6 weeks. Going 5 wide and abandoning the run, has played right into this as well. Our offense is just as the bad as the defense right now.

He should have been giving more playing time in his tenure here. Do you think we should have cut him? I will never know. Now if we gave him regular playing time like a Kelsay and he sucked then yes, I would be fine with cutting him. Maybin is flawed but one bills drive didn't give the kid enough of a chance on the field. But a guy like Chris Kelsay makes it on the field week after week who rarely applies pressure and is unable to outside contain on the run? Chris Kelsay production this year is exactly the production you are talking about Maybin at his worst.
