I still want Stevie around but I did lose respect from him after his weekly appearance on the Schopp and the Bulldog. If you heard the Q and A, its all about him even deflecting blame on a perfectly thrown ball by Fitz that he dropped. I'm afraid to say but he is a diva like TO and Ochostinko. Stevie if you want to get back at the Jets, WIN THE DAMN GAME!
-
How about you mock them after you win the game first? I'm upset what Stevie did because it handicapped our ability to win this game. A crucial game at that.

The difference between social media like twitter and personal phone calls, personal emails, personal text messages is that they are PERSONAL and don't add distractions to the football team and not subject to public scrutiny. Public outlets like twitter not only can offer personal and football related distractions but they have the ability to cause team distractions on the coaching staff and players as well, not to mention putting professional teams in poor national media spotlight...like the infamous "GOD" tweet. Stevie Johnson's twitter decisions are not very good when he has these bad gaffs on the football field. This year and last. There is a big difference in your example.

I wouldn't call 8 catches for 75 yards and 1 touchdown an amazing day. 8 catches for 150 or 200 yards and 2 or 3 touchdowns would be amazing....
-
Actually this is pretty brilliant if you ask me. Sullivan was saying you get Ralph, Nix and Gailey to sit down with him. Tell him we are going to pay you but the shennanigans on the field must MUST STOP and put stipulations in the contract to close the twitter account. I'm all for that. I would be pretty happy giving him the big money going forward dealing with his contract like that.

We are more than a few pieces away on defense. We need a pass rushing end, minimum of two quality linebackers, probably 3 and our young DB backs are unproven at this this point. McGee is old and McKelvin is a bust so we need to fill those spots in the coming years. Our defense isn't just bad it is awful. The worst defense I have seen in 11 years of the Bills losing stretch.
-
As much as were bashing him we still need to resign him because we have no depth at this position. But at 9 million? There is no team in the NFL that will give him 9 mill per year garaunteed 6 max 7 maybe.
-
A replacement kicker that won't be on this team past this year isn't worth getting worked up about.
-
Yup he ripped him badly on national television even pointing out when coaches are going to make an example of sitting guys like him for his actions.
-
If you watch the replay shown in the broadcast his kicking motion, angle and leg velocity was to line drive the kick but totally missed/botched it. Video evidence doesn't fit with the onside kick theory.
-
My previous post has been misrepresented. All I meant was Chan Gailey said to do the squib. The rest of my post beginning "you don't know anything about football" was MY opinion and thoughts.
-
What you missed is that it was a botched squib kick and we would have never attempted the squib if it wasn't for the penalty. A successful squib kick will get to about the 30 yard line of the opposing field, picked up by a special teams person that doesn't return kicks (a blocker) and maybe a 5 to 10 yard return max. Same field position, and prevent the big play from the best special teams in the NFL. Get it? The kick was botched and why they got the field position they did. Squib kicks are not 10 yard kicks. That's what called an onside kick, but it wasn't intended to be. The kicker didn't hit the ball correctly off the tee and that's how that play ended up the way it did.

Plaxico Burress is the one that is a baller. Superbowl winner (game winning catch too) and all-pro for several years. What about that catch Plax made today on 3rd down. Now way Stevie makes that catch 1 out of 10 attempts.
-
First off, Chan Gailey said this in his press conference about the squib kick. You don't understand football. Either way you kick it you will be playing with a short field. By taking the penalty the kickoff is now at the 20 yard line instead of the 35. Typically a kickoff at the 35 yard line is either a touchback or a return from the endzone. Now kicking off at the 20 yard line the ball will be returned starting at the 10 or 15 yard line. The ball is now getting returned 100% of the time and now by the best returner in the league. Now what the squib does is it can potentially take the ball out of the main returner hands and it can prevent setting up blocks for the returner. Its used to limit the BIG PLAY - the momentum killer. The Jets have the #1 return game in the NFL and that is why you squib the ball in that situation. Its not a strange call by any means, its the correct call!

On the bright side we are not in as bad as a spot with Johnson as the Eagles are with Jackson's contract situation...lol
-
Stevie had a good game against Revis but I wouldn't consider it owning by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe owning in terms Revis standards because how great he is but not by NFL standards - 8 catches for 75 yards and 1 touchdown against the #1 receiver I would take every week from our secondary. From the Jets perspective I say mission accomplished. Is our standards this low for our offense now?
-
Yup. Basic football common sense.
-
This is the coorelation between the penalty and the kickoff. On a squib the kicking motion is drastically different. That is the big difference between the two. Certainly he should be able to pull it of but people must realize first and foremost we wouldn't have been put in that position if it wasn't for Stevies penalty. Regardless if the bad kickoff happens or not it is still a momentum killer.
-
A lot of people are commenting that Stevie Johnson didn't screw up the kick which resulted in good field position and changed the momentum of the game. That's true! However, Stevie Johnson's actions directly influenced the kickoff strategy on special teams. With the new kick off rule in the NFL, kickoffs are now at the 35 yard line. Every kicker can now kick it in the endzone 80% of the time, some even more. So typically teams start at the 20 yard line give or take 5-15 yards. Now with the 15 yard penalty the kickoff is now at the 20 yard line. Now the ball is getting returned 100% of the time. The Jets have the best return game on special teams in the NFL. Now the correct strategy, which the bills did was to attempt a squib kick which they tried. A squib kick is more of a line drive kick that will bounce on the ground before the main return man, prevents setting up a main block and sometimes picked up by a bigger body not normally used to returning kicks. An attempt of a squib kick would never happen under normal kickoffs circumstances because when you get to kick the ball off at the 35 (instead of 20) you are guaranteed a kick in the opposing endzone. Yes, its the kickers fault too, but the play would have never happened if it wasn't for Stevie non football selfish actions.

The Official Bills at Jets Game Thread

Were's DreReed83? Why no commentary? -
Stevie crossed the line bigtime. It wasn't about football it was personal. He should offer a public apology to Plaxico IMO.

3rd and 11...Why blitz a corner?
BuffaloBillsForever replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent point. We didn't blitz all game and decided to do it at the most critical point in the 4th quarter. And they didn't even disguise the blitz..easy read for Sanchez to make.Goes to show more of Edwards incompetence as DC.
