  1. I like the feel of this years team. I get the feeling the players are hungry and more talented. The coaches look to be a vast improvement over last year too... Time will tell of course, but things are looking up. Our coaches look to be more involved and Nix reinforced many positions with what looks to be some good depth. The biggest and most notable change will be on defense with our new DC. Then right behind that will be the go go offense that is being installed... WE will have a fun team to watch...and cheer for, unless you can not get off the stick and want to find non constructive things to say about the team.
  2. The Buffalo Bills and the N.Y.Jets have something in Common... Bills now have the Jets former Defensive Coordinator. They soon may have a couple of defensive coaches also.. Who knows? Does this mean, especially with the Jets in a bad salaray cap position, that we may also be looking at a few of the Jets defensive players to join up with the Bills in free agency... Maybe Does anyone know who the Bills might be interested in? While we are at it how about trying to get, if possible a third string QB from the Jets, who could run the Wildcat leaving Brad Smith to concentrate on WR? I think the guys name is Tebow...Doesn't seem the Jets or anyone else wants his services right now... Maybe we will find out when free agency gets here... There has to be a few good free agents on the Jets team that the Bills might be interested in and now have a better insight with those players... Got any ideas who?
  3. We all know eventually the Bills D-line is going to get a nickname that sticks.... I have thought of many and I know many of you can too... The Nickname I came up that I like best is: The Perfect Storm The Bills had "The Electric Company" when O.J. was charged up running the ball..... They had "The Bermuda Triangle"... defense stopping runs up the middle.... Now we have "The Perfect Storm" attacking opponents ... If you can come up with a better Nickname let us all know... No more than three words...
  4. The Bills spent a lot of money on Mark Anderson.. Ever wonder why so much? Go to this site: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrR2ydrgxsY&feature=related Watch the video and look how quick he is... He seems to have two speeds. One to get pass the first defender and the second to get to the QB You have to love his determination.. The pressure on the QB... and his ability to get to the QB The Fans are going to love this guy... How many sacks can the Bills entire team get this year? MY guess...48 and what is yours?
  5. Does everyone think our defensive coordinator is going to play the 4/3 on all plays? Last year we switched it up with the 3/4 and 4/3 defenses. We will see it again this year with Merriman being the rusher in the 3/4 defense... He is just too good to keep off the field ... I expect to see a lot of new wrinkes in the Bills Defense compared to last year and the same for the Offense... We have two very good coaches that will not stand pat with the kind of tallent on both sides of the Ball that Buddy Nix has provided.... We are in for a very good season with good coaching and a lot of good talent on this team... We may just go all the way.... just dreaming but it is possible...
  6. Here is what I believe the 53 man roster will look like... 3... QBs.. Fitz, Young and Smith 3... RBs.. Jackson, Spiller & White 1... FB .. McIntre 3... TEs.. Chandler, Smith, Dickerson 8... OL... Glenn, LaVitre, Wood, Urbik, Peers, Hairston, Reinhart, Brown 6... WRs.. Johnson, Jones, Easley, Hagan, Graham, Nelson ---------- 24 Offensive Players 9... DL.. M.Williams, Dareus, K.Williams, Anderson, Kelsey, Troup, Johnson, Merriman, Heard 6... LB.. Barnett, Shepard, Morrison, Moats, Carder, Bradham 6... CBs. A. Williams, Gilmore, Mc Gee, Brooks, Rodgers, McKelvin 3... SS.. Wilson, Searcy, Scott (will also play olb) 1....FS.. Byrd ------------------- 25 Defensive Players 4 Special Teams PK..Lyndell and Potter PK..Moorman or Powell .... it is a toss up right now between the two.. S...Sanborn As you can see there are some serious cuts......
  7. Nix and Gailey are the Bills best one / Two punch I know Byrd and Wilson are a good one / two punch The same with M. Williams and Anderson...Dareus and K. Williams, and ...A. Williams and Gilmore ...Spiller and Jackson...Fitzpatrick and Johnson BUT look who is getting us where we really want to be... Nix and Gailey.. Does anyone disagree? Listening to those two old timers inspires me. They really want to win NOW... They are thinking and talking it up of taking it all the way..... That's great leadership from the top ... While many of the fans are just hoping to make the playoffs at best... The best part is they may just get the team there with their leadership... We fans are in for one hellva great season with a lot of surprise wins thanks to the best one / two punch we have...... What do you think?
  8. I don't care if the Bills lose all four pre-season games... What I do care about is how well we play when the starters are on the field, not when all the subs of both teams are on the field. We will get a better feel of just how good we are in the 1st quarter of the first game. Starters are usually not kept in very long the first game by both teams. In the second game the starters are usually in for just under a half...Now we will get a better picture of the team. In the 3rd game the starters usually play 3/4ths of a game. Now we have a much better idea of what we got. The 4th game is a joke. We are just biding time till the season starts... Jackson and Spiller will play little in all 4 games. Even the other starters will only put in a token amount of time...Fitzpatrick will only play long enough to get a feel for the game. It is how we play with the starters on the field that counts the most... It will give us a better picture of what to expect when the real bullets fly. I can't wait and I bet you can't either...
  9. Bills expectations are high as they well should be.... Other than hoping for a large number of wins what else should we as fans be hoping the Bills players achieve? What kind of stats help let us know how we compare with other teams? What are the players themselves using as comparisons? I don't have the answers but I imagine many of you do... like sacks, pressures, completions etc... Does the team have goals besides in the win column to make for a better season... I bet they do ... What are they in your opinion ... It will be interesting to see what you Bills fans have to say that is constructive .....
  10. Go to this site for the answer... http://247wallst.com/2012/06/05/the-most-expensive-tickets-in-sports/?utm_source=247WallStDailyNewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=JUN052012A&utm_campaign=DailyNewsletter The Patriots...Giants...Bears...Cowboys... Packers all get a pretty good average buck per ticket ... Note the average price per ticket and the average attendance per game is mentioned... But where do the Bills stand ??? We know their cost per ticket is one of the lowest which is favorable to the fan. We also know we seat about 73,000 if my memory is correct... Does anyone know ? I just thought this information would be interesting to the average fan in most popular sports. Go Bills ....
  11. The coaches seem to feel he is going to be very good at MLB... Shepard has two experienced linebackers working along side of him and possible 4 all pros on the defensive line with solid backups... The defense in total has a strong look about it this year ... injuries have hurt the Bills in the past and hopefully that is not a big problem this year.... it's looking really good on the defensive side of the ball... It will make the Offense a lot stronger..... Can't wait till the season starts ....
  12. Powell will be given a excellent chance to win the job... if he is consistant and shows he belongs he will stay with the Bills... Moorman as good as he is. is now 35 years old... He would most likely be picked up by another team if released... BUT Powell has to have a very good showing in the preseason... It is possible he could and the Bills would be all the better for it for Moormans days or years are numbered.... A great Bills player...
  13. The National Media says next to Nothing about the Buffalo Bills Offense... have you noticed? Here is what I believe they see when they look at the leadership and roster.... The head coach and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey... A big time loser with the Bills... His won lost record proves it... He has bounced around from team to team... Even when Ralph Wilson chose him as head coach the Bills fans were not in favor of his hiring... Many wanted Shanahan now with Washington... Gailey has a lot to prove. QB... Ryan Fitzpatrick ... Picked up as a free agent... Bills fans believe he is better as a backup than as a starter... He was a 7th round pick... Bills management is putting to much faith in a losing QB... QB ... Vince Young.. Backup QB...Picked up by the Bills because no one else wanted him... Most likely washed up QB ... Tyler Thigper... OMG are you kidding RB ... Freddy Jackson... Another free agent pickup who starts.. RB ... C.J. Spiller ... A first round pick who has done litte and could be a bust FB.... Corey McIntrey .. Only touched the ball 4 times last year... TE ... Scott Chandler... Another free agent pick up no other team wanted... slow WR ... Stevie Johnson ... A 7th round pick considered their #1 receiver WR ... Marcus Easley .... a 4th round pick going into his 3rd year and never seen the field, maybe the #2 receiver WR ... David Nelson .... Another free agent WR ... Donald Jones ... Another free agent WR ... T.J. Graham .... Picked in the 3rd round but could have been a 7th round pick OL ... Corey Glenn .... A rookie LT OL ... Chris Hairston .. A 4th round pick OL ... Kraig Urbik...... Another free agent OL ... Chad Reinhart ... Another free agent OL ... Eric Pears ...... Another free agent Then we have Brad Smith... What is he a WR, RB, QB, Special teamer? Bills are even not sure... Where is the Talent to get this squad to the playoffs? And we the media are to believe with this motley crew they will make the playoffs ? are you kidding ? But when you ask Bills fans, many believe they are on the right track, as do I and this so called motley crew will preform to playoff standards... Do you? and why do you Believe.......???
  14. Even though the Bills have greatly improved on paper, the media still down plays the ability of the Bills to improve that much... They keep referring to our poor QB situation... A starter with little skills to improve upon and a back up with all kinds of problems... Our new QB coach is taking a strong approach to improve the QB situation... Fitz is a fast learner and willing... Now if Young can step up and take the same approach to learning from our QB coach this team will improve rapidly. I expect to see the QB position a lot stronger with coaches like David Lee, & Chan Gailey at the helm... Both will improve the QBs and make this a much more interesting season.... You really have to like what this team is capable of on paper... Is there a glaring weakness anywhere?
  15. After looking over the Roster I find the Bills biggest weakness is the starting two WR positions... No problem with Stevie Johnson as long as he stays healthy... If he gets hurt or can't play, the Bills will have big problems... To start with we are still not sure who the #2 WR will be... That will not be determined, probably till the season begins... We have depth, but not a sure fire #2 receiver as yet... Now if Johnson gets hurt, nicked, or disabled for any period of time, this can create a big problem with our passing attack... Bills really need someone to step up or they still need to get a better WR to cover the #2 position... I can only hope lady luck is with us this year, especially at WR and we do not get a rash of injuries... I figure our ground game looks better than ever... It will be an exciting year... Go Bills ....
  16. I, like many of you are from out of town... I get my Bills information from the Web... Here is a list of Bills sites I go to for updated information: Please feel free to add to the list... I know it is incomplete...Add them to your favorites for quick reference.... Not in any particular order: http://www.buffalobills.com/ http://www.twobillsdrive.com/ http://mobile.buffalorumblings.com/ http://www.wgr550.com/ http://www.rotoworld.com/ http://www.billsdaily.com/ http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/teams/afc/buffalo-bills/'>http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/category/teams/afc/buffalo-bills/ http://www.profootballweekly.com/ http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/ http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/ http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/buffalo-bills/67039?q=buffalo-bills http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BUF/buffalo-bills?tag=pageRow;pageContainer http://aol.sportingnews.com/nfl/team/2/buffalo-bills http://espn.go.com/
  17. Wilson plays both FS and SS... I had to put him somewhere... If you want Roosevelt on the starting team it is ok with me ... Then take someone else off... If you add one you have to subtract one... Easier said then done huh.
  18. I am assuming there is a 46 man roster and one extra that is active for a 3rd string QB This my breakdown. Others may have something else... I am not sure how WR/QB/RB Smith works out here... Bills depth has really improved forcing some good players to be on the 53 man roster...Assuming all are healthy here is who I would start as of right now...... Offense (21) QB...(2) Fitz & Young RB...(3) Jackson, Spiller & White FB...(1) McIntrey TE...(2) Chandler & Smith OT...(3) Glenn, Pears, Hairston OG...(3) Levitre, Urbik & Rinehart C...(1) Woods WR...(6) Johnson, Easley, Jones, Graham, Smith & Nelson Defense (22) DL...(7) M. Williams, Dareus, K.Williams, Anderson, Merriman, Kelsay & Troup LB...(5) Barnett, Morrison, Shepard, Bradham, Carder CB...(6) Gilmore, Williams, McGee, Brooks, Rogers & McKelvin SS...(2) Scott & Searcy FS...(2) Byrd & Wilson Special Teams (4) Punter... Moorman Kickers.. Lyndell and Potter Long Snapper... Sanborn
  19. If Fitzpatrick gets hurt early the Bills will be looking outside of the organization for QB help... No way Young goes to full time QB with a lot of games still to be played... He would play if there were only a hand full of games at most left... I do not see Fitzpatrick going down for a long period of time, but yes I can see Young coming in to help out......
  20. I am hoping that Chris Hairston starts at LT and stays there... It would mean in the Bills eyes that they feel he can play the position well enough to let Glenn learn ... This is not to belittle Glenn... Glenn can learn to play all the other OL positions other than Center... With his size and experience playing the OL he can step in to back up anywhere... this could be a great advantage for the Bills... When ever a player steps up his playing ability it will improved those around him... I just hope Chris really improves this year... Go Bills
  21. I think the Bills have some pretty good WRs now on the team with good chemistry... I hope the Bills do not bring in someone new with past problems... Lets go with what we now have... We have good depth because Fitzpatrick can spread the ball around and Gailey is a damn good play caller...
  22. I am no expert but I feel the Bills have done a great job improving and upgrading this club... But what other teams have made better moves than the Bills? All have improved or at least they think they have, but on paper the Bills seem to have done an outstanding job. Bills do not stand alone however and I am sure other teams have done a better job than the Bills, but who are they in your opinion?
  23. Getting Potter to be our deep kicker is a definite plus... Some of the other draft picks will also improve special teams and last years group will only get better... Special teams will be vastly improved... I do not see as many kick returns with the ball going into the end zone more often keeping the players healthier throughout the year... We won't see as many injuries... Bills looking good going into this season....and we do have a good special teams coach... he now loves the talent he has to work with...
  24. How long has it been since we have had such a assertive general manager as Buddy Nix... Someone who knows what it takes to build a franchise ... Positive optimism is good right now... It has been the opposite for over a decade so enjoy what has happened this off season... It is the building block for a good season... Too bad we still have fans who do not see that... and NO he will not fix all the Bills problems in one year... Who could? But the Bills will be a very impressive winning franchise this year... If we do not have the old injury bug we can go a lot further than anyone expects... Go Bills.....
  25. It is too early to cut more players... After June 1st many teams will be adjusting their rosters including the Bills. I do feel now that Jackson is re-signed that Byrd and Levitre are next in line to get re-signed early. It may mean letting one or two of the higher paid and older defensive players go earlier than thought... The four backups on the D-line are presently thought to be Kelsay, Troup, Carrington and Merriman... Everyone but Kelsay was brought in by Nix and Nix did re-sign Kelsay... He likes him... So the others may go... Time will tell.
