  1. Buddy Nix will go with the Best Talent he can get, especially in the first round... Buddy Nix will most likely take "NEED" out of the equation..... Buddy Nix did this with the Spiller pick. Remember he was loaded with RB Jackson and Lynch at the time and many bloggers and those in the media thought he was making a big mistake... Spiller now looks like a stud going into next season... As for Left Tackle... There is more than a 50% chance D. Bell will return... lets hope so anyway... But what does Buddy Nixs War Room Draft Board look like... We can only guess... Here are my thoughts when taking Need away from the decision making... 1. QB Luck........Most likely will be gone 2. QB Griffin.....Most likely will be gone 3. OT Kalil.......Most likely will be gone 4. RB Richardson..If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will take him and try to try Jackson or Spiller later 5. WR Blackmon....If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will take him with no questions asked 6. CB Claiborne...If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will take him at once 7. DE Couples.....If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will skip over him 8. OG DeCastro....If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will take him ... Move Urbik to back up Guard/Center 9. WR Floyd.......If he falls to the Bills...da Bills will take him if the others are gone 10 DT Cox.........Bills will not take him 11 OLB Upshaw.....Bills may take him if they do not feel Reiff and Martin along with Glenn are not even close 12 LOT Reiff......Bills could take him if Bell goes elsewhere 13 LOT Martin.....Bills could take him if Bell goes elsewhere 14 MLB Kuechly....He would be a part time player for the Bills... to high a pick at #10 15 DT Poe.........Bills not interested 16 DE Ingram......Bills not interested 17.DT Brockers....Bills not interested 18 OLT Glenn......Bills could surprise everyone by taking this pick if Bell goes elsewhere before the draft.. It looks like Buddy will go with the Best player available when he picks, especially in the first round... Others may slip into the top 18 count, of over all talent... I named this many because the Bills may trade down and this is what we would be looking at in the first 18 players... But the list could change...from now to April 26th.
  2. When Nix drafted Spiller he already had Jackson and Lynch on the roster.. So why pick Spiller? Because Nix felt Spiller was the best pick at the time for the Bills. With that line of thinking... would it not surprise you to see Nix take a certain All Pro in OG David DeCastro? Urbik can be moved to a back up Guard/Center which the Bills need... C Woods is coming off a injury and may not be 100% by game day... That first pick is one all the fans remember.... Bills can address LOT in round 2 and possibly use one of those 4th round and even a 3 rd picks to move up to the lower end of the first round... Nix has 9 and possibly 10 picks to play with... Buddy does have some options, but really needs a quality LT... Bills have a multi million dollar QB to protect...
  3. I have been following many of the Mock Drafts by the so called experts.... I feel they do not know as much about the draft as does many of the Bills fans here in this forum... We are seeing a variety of solid picks for the first round from the fans.. Not so from the media... not as yet anyway... If we just listen to what Buddy tells us, we can get a good idea of what he will do... That is ... he wants the best player available when he picks reguardless of position... So if we look at the top 15 or 16 picks we can pretty well judge whom he will select... Right now he has a opportunity to interview each player in Buffalo to see who is best fitted for da Bills... OG David DeCastro ... everyone thinks he will be a all pro guard in the future... This means Kraig Urbik could be moved to play center while Wood recouperates ILB Luke Kuechley is another possibility for he is outstanding.... He can play OLB and ILB ... OG/OT Cordy Glenn... He has all the credentials to start at OLT..and he can go inside to play guard WR Michael Floyd... Could start at WR to complement Stevie Johnson ... There are other names of course and Buddy Nix will pick the best player for us... I have faith in Buddy... I was not happy with Spiller when selected, but look at Spiller now... He is a good one for sure...
  4. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Since OT Martin is out of the picture at #10 I still feel the Bills want a top flight O-line pick. Since Wood still has a long ways to go it would not surprise me to see the Bills draft OG David DeCastro* DeCastro would start at RG moving Kraig Urbik to Center while Wood gets to 100% The Bills can address LT in Round two... Hopefully the Bills can resign Bell making the situation more tollerable...Other options for the O-line would be to draft Riley Rieff, but he is a better guard than OT do to his arm length. Cordy Glenn is raw but very impressive..He will move up the charts before draft day.
  5. Today was pro day at Stanford and OT Jonathan Martin I feel did not have a good showing... OT Jonathan Martin did 20 reps @ 225 on the bench, ran a 5.33 forty-time, and had a 4.76 short-shuttle time It would have been better if he did nearer 30 reps and ran close to 5.0 ... For Buddy Nix to draft Martin at #10 now would be taking a big chance... too risky a pick This is not to say he would not take him if the Bills move down in the draft... I would be more apt to say if Buddy goes with a OT at #10 he goes with Cordy Glenn... Glenn is very impressive OT Riley Rieff will be a very good Guard.. With his short reach he will not be as affective at OT... Bills may decide to now look at WR Floyd, and a future All Pro Guard in DeCastro...Not a CB in round one.
  6. Buddy Nix may eliminate LOT Martin as his first round pick after his showing today ...... OT Jonathan Martin did 20 reps @ 225 on the bench, ran a 5.33 forty-time, and had a 4.76 short-shuttle time, It shows he is soft... out of shape for this important day... 20 reps is nothing... a 5.33 is slow as hell for a 1st round draft pick... Buddy can do better than picking him at #10..... oh boy can he ...
  7. There is a possibility the Bills will draft down in round one.... Looking at a NFL Trade Value Chart http://www.eastcoastsportsnews.com/NFLDraftChart.html Here is what I see..... If the Bills trade down to the 11th, 12th or 13th pick they would need a first and a 4th rd pick to compensate.... If the Bills trade down to the 14th or 15th pick they would need a one pick plus a 3rd round pick If the Bills trade down to the 16 or 17th pick they would need a one pick plus a 3rd and 4th pick If the Bills trade down to the 18, 19 and 20 pick they would need the teams first and 2nd round pick... I do not see the Bills trading any lower than the 20th pick... Knowing this, who is the team most likely to trade up for the Bills pick?
  8. I do believe Buddy will draft a OT but not Reiff with the 10th over all pick... Martin and Glenn could be his choice...More in depth knowledge of both players is needed to determine the better of the two... Only the scouts can decide that... Reiff does have short arms and would find it hard to keep defensive players off of him...Martin and Glenn would not with their long reaches... Buddy knows best ....
  9. Buddy Nix knows the importance of having a solid left tackle that is dependable and durable... Fitzpatric had to have a quick release last season because of weak tackles... and yes he was pressured a lot... especially when Bell was out of action... No way does he want to get his QB injured. He wants to give him more time in the pocket.. He will be more effective... That is why he will select a quality OLT in the first round. As I can see from the readers...they want other positions to be selected which is all well and good if you have a good OLT which the Bills presently do not... Until that position is settled by Buddy Nix it will be the most improtant for the Bills to fill with a top priority pick... There are really good DEs, WRs, CBs, and OLBs in rounds 2 thru 4 this season...Buddy will fill those holes in the draft with the best athlete available when he picks....
  10. Left tackle is the 2nd most important position next to QB... Right now, OLT Bell has been offered a contract that the Bills can live with... It may or may not be what Bell wants... Unfortunately for him he is injuried too often to make starter money. Bills need a quality Left Tackle that is not only good but durable... That is why I believe they will draft one with their 10th pick even if Bell re-signs... I looked at the top Left tackles.. Matt Kail will be gone before the Bills select... Riley Reiff is tough as hell but has short arms and is better suited for guard Jonathan Martin has all the qualification for a starting LT but some say he is soft. Warning sign for lack of heart Mike Adams is there for a starting LT position... Has all the qualifications... but will be picked at the lower end of the 1st round... The LT I like who I think Buddy would pick at #10 has 6'5' height...346 lbs...10 inch hands, 35" plus arms,84 5/8 wing span, dominate work ethic, powerful and mobile with good balance..He can play OLT or guard... comes from a good southern school where Buddy likes to pick them... His name is Cordy Glenn... Watch him go up in the charts. I like the pick of left tackle here because in rounds 2 thru 4 there are quality WRs, CBs and OLBs to choose from. Fixing the O-line should be a top priority this year and getting any one of those LTs whom Buddy likes hopefully will be the right move... But Buddy has to really like him at #10...
  11. I was thinking of all the Bills injuries the past three years... Way to many for my liking... Something is wrong somewhere... It seemed to start when the new turf was installed at One Bills Drive. Maybe it is my imagination. I dunno... Bills need to re-sign OT Bell... But injuries are a problem with him... Could the turf be a problem with him and some of the other Bills... At the end of last season just about all the players were hurting one way or another. The turf may be just to hard on their bodies.. I am no expert but there has been a big increase of injuries, some small and no so small since the new turf was installed... I wonder if anyone is looking into this? Just my opinion.
  12. With the 10th pick I want Nix to take the best player available reguardless of position... Even OG Decastro (assuming Bell is re-signed) he will be a future all pro... If Bell is not re-signed OT Martin will be a good pick... DE Perry looks really good... WR Floyd would be a good complement to Johnson... Even a DT ... looks like Kyle Williams may take longer to get back then originally thought... The Best pick will be determined after free agency... We need to know how Nix fills in some important holes then we can get hot on who to pick.... So far the Bills have stepped up... NO backward moves as yet...
  13. NO WAY do the Bills draft any QB at #10 or in rounds 2 and 3... He is a one year wonder... Only has 9 inch hands which are too small for a QB... Remember QB Clauson? He had small hands... It would be nice if the Bills draft a QB in the later rounds, who they can develop. But even then it is not a real hot need in this years draft... I am sure Buddy knows what he is doing ... I like the feel of what is going on right now with Buddy Nix in charge with a lot of money to spend... Between him, Gailey and Whaley the football part of the operation of this team is in good hands...
  14. [/i] MS"] I would not depend on seeing a healthy Merriman or Kyle Williams at the start of the season... If Bell is not re-signed I believe the Bills will draft a OT with their first pick... Go DE with their 2nd pick and maybe DT with their 3rd pick... I just hope they build the O-line and D-line with high picks... Right now it is what Overdorf and Littman do that is most important... Have they ever got it right during the preseason? Nix is good when it comes to the draft... He has some good guys advising him (Gailey & Wheley) but Overdorf really pinches da bucks and lets good talent get away from him when we have the chance to sign them up ........ I hope it is different this year... Bills need more talent ...
  15. If anyone believes Kyle Williams will be 100% when he returns will be dreaming... Knowing this I now hope Overdorf gets OT Bell re-signed more than ever... Da Bills most likely will want to re-inforce our tackle position with their first round, knowing Kyle won't be the player we all would like him to be...Building the O-line and D-line should be their first priority in the draft... using high picks in the draft... Nix will have a good draft, but I do not believe the front office (Overdorf and Littmann) will have a good offseason. Have they ever?
  16. I just read Chan Gailey is going to a 4/3 defense next season... http://www.rtsports.com/football-news/1000087938 I wonder how this will affect free agency and the draft?
  17. I have been around a long time to see this franchise reaching for rock bottom year after year.... The Buffalo Bills Fans deserve a new owner to allow them to clean house, especially in the front office... We know the names that rarely get mentioned, who are responsible. Guys like Overdorf and Littmann to just mention a couple of names... It all starts at the top and the sooner we see changes the better. Nix and Gailey have their hands tied. They do not have the power to go to free agency when the front office tells them they only want to get better through the draft. Free agency is used when they can only get any player on the cheap... This comes from the front office... If big changes are made there and changes in philosophy, only then will the Bills get better. I feel Wilson and his current staff are out of touch. Their record proves it. Time for a real house cleaning from top to bottom if we ever want to see a team to be proud of, the way it used to be...
  18. Who do you think will be the first 15 players to be cut? I would expect some surprises... How about Maybin and Moorman to start with..... This would give both players a opportunity to possibly go with another team... So who is on your list to get cut?
  19. These weights do not look right..... I wonder if someone like Chris Brown could comment on them or one of the media writers... It would be nice to have some accuracy here.....
  20. [i know this is early, but it is all in fun... I reserve the right to make changes when I want to and will except suggestions to change...... My 53 man Roster as of Today..... QB (3) Fitz, Thigpen, Smith TE (3) Chandler, Martin, Nelson RB (3) Jackson, Spiller, White FB (1) McIntyne WR (6) Johnson, Evans, Nelson, Parish, Easley, Jones G (3) Levitre, Urbik, Wang T (4) Bell, Pears, Wrottle, Hariston C (2) Wood, Handgartner Total 25 DE (4) Dareus, Edwards, Johnson, Carrington NT (3) Williams, Troup, Jasper OLB (4) Merriman, Kelsay, Coleman, Batten ILB (4) Davis, Barnett, Sheppard, Moats CB (5) McGee, Florence, McKelvin, Williams, Corner SS (4) Wilson, Scott, Searcy, Corto FS (1) Byrd Total 25 Special Teams... (3) Moorman, Lindell, Sanborn........ Total 53.... I am hoping other players step up especially on the O-line... We have weak backups... The linebacking corp still could be changed... I do not like putting Moats at MLB.... What changes would you make as of today?
  21. What a way to build a team... Not being able to resign players ... Having them leave when they are at the height of their careers and getting better. Buddy Nix is out of date with the rest of the NFL teams. Others are filling rosters with quality players while Nix looks to add to the team with players other teams are willing to let go. How many quality players have the Bills seen go to other teams when their contracts were up? Why is the front office so dysfunctional when it comes to re-signing quality players who management wants to keep? Losing is becoming a tradition with the Bills and the fans are really tired of it.... But lets feel better and listen to the spin doctors tell us things will get better.....We have been hearing that for over 11 years now...... Don't you love when they tell us how they will make the team better and then see them fail at it? Ouch Another Year down the drain....... Only some dramatic moves on Nix's part now will change my mind... Moves that will show they want improvement now and not wait ........ PS... They have the money to do it.... I just want to see them start winning and stop being the leagues laughing stock...
  22. The Buffalo Bills were the only team to get a A+ draft rating from Rick Gosselin ....of the "Dallas Morning News" .... Read this article http://blogs.buffalonews.com/billboard/2011/05/index.html « BLOGS BillBoardDMN gives Bills A+ May 1, 2011 - 9:56 AM | Comment Dallas Morning News draft analyst Rick Gosselin gave the Bills the only A+ grade in the draft in his analysis of the selections today. Wrote Gosselin: The Bills had nine selections and five of them were above value for the round they were drafted: Williams, Hairston, the two Whites and Rogers. A good draft becomes great in the third day. The Bills hit for the cycle on Saturday. A+ ESPN analyst Mel Kiper gave the Bills a grade of B. Nine teams got higher than a B. Wrote Kiper: Buffalo drafted some really good football players and clearly put the emphasis on defense. Dareus is the ideal penetrating pass-rusher to convert into a 3-4 defensive end and allows the Bills to really stick with that scheme. The Bills also got a good value with Williams early in Round 2. Sheppard is a guy that while not very explosive, is instinctive and should be starting early in his career. Where I do have a question is why they again waited until Day 3 to get any help on the offensive line. They didn't take an offensive tackle until the fifth round last year, when that need seemed more glaring. The Buffalo News' draft analysis runs in Monday's editions. ---Mark Gaughan Rick Goslin has been voted the best draft expert year after year... The Bills Brass really out did themselves this year... In my opinion the scouts did a great job... Next year they will go after a QB who will have a more experienced Offensive line in front of him to protect him. Too many QBs are drafted without a good team around them... The last two years the Bills have built a strong, young team that will only need a quality leader at QB to learn behind Fitzpatric... One more draft and we will make the playoffs...with a sound foundation... I liked the way Nix is building this team and apparently so does Golsin...
  23. The war room must be going crazy with all the options of selecting players this season.... The senarios have to be countless. Just look at all the mock drafts...It is crazy... Players are so close in talent this year... The Bills Brass have to consider trading down if another team is hot for a player when we are picking... These decisions are not easy for everyone will second guess them for years after... Jobs are on line.... They will be damed if they do and damed if they dont.... Bloggers only know what they read from the media and those guys get their information from scouts, coaches who do not tell the truth. Injuries are hidden. Players hussle and desire are not told... Just stats which do not tell us if a player has talent or how much... Good scouting is what counts. Bills have not really shown us that they have it yet. Last years draft was not over whelming to say the least... Nix and Gailey have a second chance to build the Bills the right way... What ever that is... Only a winning record will tell us that... Will we have one this season ? Damn I hope so... So tired of losing and having really bad games to watch... But once a Bills Fan ... All ways a Bills Fan..... Go Bills
  24. Any time Buddy Nix can make a trade for MORE picks I love it. Having said that, I still want the Bills to select OLB Miller in Round one and QB Ponder in Rd. two... They are two quality players that will be leaders for years.... Gailey and Nix are solid judges of talent... It would not surprise me to see them take both players if they are available... Just remember... Would you have taken a guy by the name of Jim Kelly with all the injuries he had while at Miami? It was good scouting that allowed us to select him... Nix and Gailey have had more then a good look at Ponder. Time will tell....
  25. My choices for the top three are: 1. OLB Von Miller ...... a sure fire future all pro...as is Merriman who will play on the other side. Between the two of them the Bills will be harder to defend against the pass... He will be a good solid pick 2. DT Dareus ... As we know he can play the 3/4 an dthe 4/3 defense... He will make a solid contributor for years to come... 3. QB Gabbert... If the Bills are ever going to get a franchise QB now is the time... Who Not to Pick in the top three 1. QB Newton...... Not a good pick for Buffalo. More and More bad things are coming out about him. Team chemisty would not be good.... He just isn't a player the Bills have to have at this point. 2. CB Peterson.....If New England does not want him why should we. He had a 9 on his Wonderlic test. Great athlete but do not ask him to think on his feet. We already have a CB in Mckevon that is a great athlete but finds it hard to think....Harsh words but it is the truth. 3. DT Fairley... To immature. Loses his temper. Really does not want to play in the North. Bills would take a big chance with him at number 3. 4. WR Green ... Another low scoring Wonderlic tester. Only had a 9 on his test. There is a lot to say about low scores. Jason Peters was said to have had a 6. Spiller had a 3.2 avg. in college and had a very low Wonderlic Score also. But running backs do not need high scores per say... Even Lynch did not score well... Good players study film and learn. Dumb players depend on their athletic ability too much and get stung to often... 5. DE Quinn... Again too much of a risk at number 3. Bills can do better... 6. DE Bowens... Big question mark here... Only the Bills scouting dept. will know for sure... Those are my reasons why I chose the top three I did... Knowing all this Buddy Nix will come up with his own decisions most likely different then mine... But it's fun trying to out guess them a month ahead of time....... Go Bills (I also do not think there will be a trade down in the first round)
