  1. Good assessment. I agree with what you said 100%. I'm just looking for improvement this year. Let guys get used to playing with each other and hopefully stay healthy. That injury bug has been killing us year after year. I'm actually curious to see the development of our receiving corp this year as well. We saw Stevie Johnson come on and some flashes from David Nelson as well. Let's see if Easley can show us something coming off of his injury. I remember it being a few years before we got to see what a beast Eric Moulds was. Just saying...... I think i'd actually be impressed with an 8-8 record this year, with us showing improvement on both sides of the ball. Of course, I am hoping for an even better record and a spot in the playoffs, but like CodeMonkey said, my expectations are tempered. POW!!!!!
  2. I personally liked that they stayed at #3 and selected what is believed to be one of the, if not THE best player in the draft. It truly gives this defense something to build around. In regards to accumulating as many picks as possible to fill holes, I don't think that you do that with all rookies. You need some veteran leadership, which is who for the Bills. You draft for great talent, not for mediocre spot fillers and you develop what you have and pick up veteran leadership through FA. I think the Bills got it right this year. POW!!!!
  3. No, we won't get our next Jim Kelly this year, simply because he was not in this year's draft. Gailey probably was only targeting Newton if he took a QB that high and the ones left were no upgrade to a young Fitzpatrick whom the team seems to be well behind. Why waste a pick on QB if you're gonna have to draft another one next year? Besides, it's not like either of them would play this year anyways. As for TEs, I think we will address in FA. I am thinking Kevin Boss. Time will tell. POW!!!!
  4. I could easily imagine a scenario where we take Bowers @34 if our med staff feels his knee is ok. But I would not be at all surprised is we traded back into the 2nd round for one of the 3 remaining top end QBs. It all depends on what Cinc does, since they pick before us in the 3rd round. I wouldn't mind either of those 3 QBs. I think Mallet is the best of the 3, but Kaep may be a better fit for Gailey. Dalton is the smart marksman that may really develop into the franchise guy though. That said, again, i'm game for either of them AFTER we take Bowers if his knee is medically cleared. POW!!!!
  5. Just saying, if we don't take a QB in rounds 1 or 2, look out for him in Rd 4. I think he'd be a steal. Especially with a year or two behind Fitz. POW!!!
  6. As I watched the ESPN special on the QBs path to the draft, I noticed that one of the QBs is very rarely spoken about even though his combine measurables were really high. If we were to take a mid round QB as a project to learn behind Fitz, why not look at Tyrod Taylor? His game is compared with one Michael Vick(please no dog fighting references, lets stick to football attributes). With a coach like Gailey, who we all know his resume with athletic QBs, this could turn into a great pick. This would allow us to focus on Defense and OL early and select our QB in the 4-5 round. Just a thought. POW!!!!
  7. Didn't know Fitzpatrick was ballin like that! Neverneverland ranch? Really? At first read, I thought they must have been hosted by Arizona WR Larry Fitzgerald(OG Fitz) for general workout program, but glad to see Fitz taking control of his team. Reminds me a lot of Drew Brees when it was assumed they needed another QB. Hope he has a similar type year that Drew had that year! POW!!!!
  8. This post needs to be removed. It is grossly inappropriate. Jamie did not call him a "wigger", which is an offensive, racist term. He called him a street dude, much like eminem or vanilla ice. Yes, white people can be street as it is closely tied to economic status. The OP is the one who made it into this offensive post, so I suggest the moderator remove this post altogether. For anyone who disputes that the term is not offensive, just break down what wigger means. It mixes "white" with the "n-word". Not cool..... POW!!!!
  9. I hope we get a late round bubba to be more of a space eater in the middle of the Defense. Hoping for another Pat Williams type of guy or even another Mr. Washington of past Bills teams. Also hope we address OT and maybe TE if/when we have a free agency. POW!!! Thanks for the reply bandit. POW doesn't stand for anything. My trademark, I guess. It's just for effect, kinda like, "Pow! There you have it!" Awesome! Thanks for your feedback Chum! POW!!!
  10. Both assessments were very well thought out and made a lot of sense. Thank you both for that. I tend to lean towards Chum's belief that the LB corp was our true weakness. First, we drafted DLinemen last year, so let's let them develop. Plus Kyle Williams is for real. Second, the only LB I have any excitement right now is Moats. Poz needs to step it up. Merriman can be quite an asset if he ever gets healthy, but that seems to be quite a task when getting off the juice. That said, I won't mind if they take Von Miller. I personally am hoping for Newton or Dareus(I know I said that I don't think that DLine is the problem, but this dude I think will be a big-time playmaker for many years). After that, i'm fine with Miller, Peterson or Fairley, and maybe Gabbert if Nix sees something special about him. Personally I don't. I'm curious to find out who Chum and Bandit are hoping for with pick #3. Don't worry about who you think may be gone. In your ideal situation, who do we select?(No trade down) POW!!!!
  11. I wouldn't be excited about it, but it would fill needs on the team..... POW!!!
  12. Sure, you can say that, but the point was what you think the most probable scenario will be on draft day.
  13. This isn't meant to be what I hope happens at the draft, but rather what I think is most likely to happen at the draft. No need to worry about what teams will trade up to make the picks. Just the order and who the Bills will end up selecting at #3. Which do you say is most likely? If you feel there is a more probable scenario that plays out, feel free to add it. 1. Cam Newton and Marcel Dareus are selected 1 & 2. Bills select Von Miller. 2. Cam Newton and Marcel Dareus are selected 1 & 2. Bills select Patrick Peterson. 3. Cam Newton and Marcel Dareus are selected 1 & 2. Bills select Blaine Gabbert. 4. Marcel Dareus and Patrick Peterson are selected 1 & 2. Bills select Cam Newton. 5. Blaine Gabbert and Cam Newton go 1 & 2. Bills select Marcel Dareus. SN: I am personally hoping for #4 or #5. POW!!!
  14. That's funny. I've never heard a "Jim Kelly was overrated" thread. Although I wouldn't say that he was the best QB ever, (I personally thought Elway, Marino, and Moon were better QBs for the same reasons you stated)I still would not say that he was overrated just because of that. Nobody said he was better than Tom Brady or Peyton Manning....if you wanna talk about overrated, let's talk about Matt Cassell, Charlie Whitehurst, AJ Feely and Kevin Kolb(people who got LOT'S of money and haven't done jack). At least McNabb put his team on the map. POW!!!
  15. Had a dream last night that we selected Cam Newton with the #3 pick. Not saying this is what i'm hoping for, because I truly can't tell if he or Gabbert will be the best QB of this class. I trust Nix and Gailey to make that call. I do think that unless we trade down, we will take a QB with #3. POW!!!
  16. So he reminds you of Jim Kelly, probably the Bills best QB ever, but he's still overrated. And he did it with waaaay less that what Jim Kelly had. Then I guess Jimbo is overrated too. Oh and he has been the definition of a leader and role model in Philly. Come on dude, if you drafted him first round in your fantasy football league and he didn't get you the points you expected, it's ok for you to be mad at him for that, but to say that he is overrated in REAL football is just absurd. POW!!!
  17. It's a very valid question. I was wondering the same thing. With it now coming out that Bowers pro day was poor and that he may be headed for microfracture surgery, I wonder how far he falls? If it's assumed that he will need additional surgery and won't be ready to play his rookie season, do the Bills pull the trigger in the 2nd round if he plummets that far? I think I would. Also, does the fact that we may not have a 2011 season factor into the decision of a team that really likes him healthy to take him early? Very curious. Can't wait for the draft! POW!!!
  18. The most overrated??? Really??? Ok, he only led the Eagles to 5 NFC Championship games, 1 Superbowl and went to 6 pro-bowls in his 11 years there. He did this while rarely having any receivers. You gotta be kidding me. And oh yeah, this came from the Eagles when they traded him: "Donovan McNabb was more than a franchise quarterback for this team," Eagles chairman Jeffrey Lurie said. "He truly embodied all of the attributes of a great quarterback and of a great person. He has been an excellent representative of this organization and the entire National Football League both on and off the field. I look forward to honoring him as one of the greatest Eagles of all time and hopefully see him enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton one day." If you don't want that, then whatever you're smoking has got your brain all messed up. Sorry, not buying the overrated argument.
  19. If Newton is there when we draft at #3, I think they will pick him and never look back. Not saying that this is who I am hoping for, but I definitely think they will do that if they can. I personally would be happy with him, Dareus, Fairly or Peterson. They are the "elite" talent of the draft. Next would be Miller, Gabbert or Bowers. POW!!!
  20. Agreed. Let him get a line that can open a whole and he's gone, between the tackles or not. Just don't count on him to create his own holes on a regular basis. I also agree that a QB like Newton will only help to open things up for him. POW!!!
  21. Very cool. Thx! This year's draft seems harder than past ones to predict who's going where, simply because there's no clear cut favorites at any position for the top of the draft.
  22. Greetings fellow Bills fans and former/current players posing as fans! I've been a spectator on this site for a long time and decided it was time to finally speak up. I'm excited with the direction I BILLieve the Bills are going in. We have a great number of positive things we can do in the draft this year. I won't claim to have inside knowledge of what the FO is thinking, but I will state my thoughts and back it up with why. Hopefully I can contribute to some of the great, informative posts that I occasionally see on here. POW!!!
  23. Agree with this 100%! Great post. POW!!!
  24. If Chan and Nix believe this guy is the next McNabb or better, then by all means take him at #3. Just make sure you also address the OT needs and focus the rest on Defense. Can you imagine a solid OLine with Newton and Spiller back there for the next 10 years. Gailey can truly revolutionize the NFL offense to properly showcase the athletic QBs in this league. Hopefully we address TE in FA and if dreams do come true, we can also bring in the CB from the Raiders... POW!!!
  25. I think I'd take it in return for their 1st, 2nd and next year's 1st. We still get a great player at 12(someone elite is bound to slide to 12), an extra 2nd and who knows how high that 1st will be next year. Our 2 1st round picks could be traded for the #1 pick if we fall flat on our face again this year. Don't get me wrong, I'd still take a project QB with one of our 2nd round picks this year(kinda like the kid from Nevada for his compatibility with Gailey's offense - smart, mobile, strong arm/fairly accurate and ran the pistol offense), but I'd focus on getting a D and an OT with the other picks. Hopefully we address TE in FA, if we ever have one. POW!!! Von Miller may turn out to be a great NFL player. The thing that scares me about him along with several other highly rated prospects is that I don't recall hearing about how dominant he was during the year until after the season. That tells me that people are basing their opinions on measurables and pre-draft hype. Sure he had sacks, but to me he comes across as a talented blitzing CB. I don't know if his size will translate in the NFL as a LB. Just scares me for a top 5 pick.... POW!!!
