  1. Options #6, 4, then 1 would be my preference. I do think it would be a mistake to go into the draft with this positional philosophy though. That leads to you reaching. I still think you go best player available. Which means their big board would determine from all of those RD 1 options at all positions who gets drafted round 1. Same for Rds 2, 3. That seems to be how they have run their draft in years past. The picks of Spiller and Williams kind of speak to that in my opinion. McNutt doesn't look bad. But there is probably a reason he is listed as a 3-4th Rd projection. One thing that stood out to me that I did not see in his highlight reel is that I did not see much of him fighting for the ball in traffic or jump balls. Maybe he did, but I didn't see much of it, so I'm throwing it out there. Correct me if I'm wrong. IIRC, that is something Buddy is looking for in a WR. "Open even when he is covered." I think Floyd is the pick at 10 if he's there. If they wait until Round 3-4 for a WR, I would love to get McNutt though.
  2. I appreciate your post Trooth, but I have to disagree. When watching film(youtube) on Keuchly, he did not really stand out to me as anything exceptional. He seemed like a solid college LB at best. I can't see him being a difference maker in the NFL and definitely not Matthews. NFL Starter....surely. I don't expect to hear his name on any Pro-Bowl roster unless he is the beneficiary of playing in a dominant defense. But as far as him being someone O. Coordinators have to game plan for, I just don't see it. I could be wrong. Who knows? As far as Rieff and Floyd, I can see Rieff starting on either side. I think he can go an acceptable job at LT, but does not seem to be a top 10 guy. I don't think it's fair to rate him based on his predecessors though. I do see Floyd being something special and I think he will be ready to start year 1. He has been in a Pro-Style AND a spread offense. Isn't that kinda what Gailey's system is, kinda hybrid? From what I have seen of his game tape, he can do it all in regards to a WR. Screens, Flies, Slants, Fades, Jump Balls, YAC and from what I hear he is a pretty good blocker. That to me says complete receiver. The only concern I have for him at #10 is that he does so well in the NFL that it becomes an issue that he is a #2 WR instead of a #1. I do trust S. Johnson as my #1 WR, so it may turn into a situation where there are not enough balls to go around. That is a problem that I can live with though with my #10 pick. Another question I would put out there is which of these positions is it easier to hit on in later rounds(3-7)? I guess a good way to examine this is to look at all three positions and see of all 32 teams, what percentage of their starting LT, WR and LB are manned by people drafted outside of the 2nd Round. If I have time to research that, I will post. If any of you find it, please do the same.
  3. Response to Tenneseeboy: It's been well documented what Floyd had to do to prove he has "changed his life". Interviews with Brian Kelly, him and other sources have said this very often, but those in the "No to Floyd" camp never mention that. (SN - Almost sounds like a Tea Baggers...oops, I mean Tea Party Obama bashing session. Just pointing out the one side to make someone else look bad. Tell the whole frickin story!!) He went to alcohol abuse meetings, voluntarily stayed in the freshman dorms, became a much better student and worked hard to be a better leader and football player, because he was humbled by this experience. Just google it dude.... Just one of the many articles: http://www.ohio.com/sports/browns/nfl-scouting-combine-notre-dame-s-michael-floyd-confronts-alcohol-issues-1.267555
  4. Price was far from a bust as a #2 WR. It wasn't until he became "The Man" that he sucked. Still your point is valid. We would have a hard time taking a bust....far from impossible for us. Correction...Floyd HAD serious off the field issues, which he showed he was serious about correcting. He didn't just say sorry and move on, he put in work to show you he has moved on.
  5. I think I might take the All Pro LT if he were available. The only problem with this is that Kalil will be long gone before we pick. He is the only LT in this draft that i'd be willing to bet would be as good of a LT as Long. I can't say that about Martin or that I think he'll even be a stud. You can read my post in the other thread referred to by the OP to see my thoughts on Keuchly. I do think that Floyd will be a stud though....
  6. Not convinced. From what i've seen of him, he is not a #10 guy. While he is not Poz and has a different skill set, Poz did make a ton of tackles, but not before the guy was 3-4 yds down the field. That what his tape reminded me of(not because he's white) and what many bills fans would be complaining about 2 years down the road. I want a nasty SOB who can intimidate offenses and make plays behind the LOS. Typically LBs make an impact on the team much quicker than a WR would, however, I think it all depends on what your working with. Floyd knows the entire route tree, has played in a spread offense and Pro style offense, in which he has been a BEAST in each of them and is known to be a good blocker. You never know if he will be a bust, but i'd be truly surprised if he was. In regards to the question of taking Willis, Fitzgerald or Jake Long, it really comes down to what that team needs to take that next step. With the Bills needing all three it's a really tough position. Reality is that I don't believe that Keuchly is gonna be like Willis, I doubt Reif/Glenn/Martin will be Jake Long and I doubt Floyd will be Fitz, however I do think that Floyd will be a star in this league and will help take our offense to the next level. Our Defense is already at least intimidating(possible sick) and can use a few more pieces, but let's use our #10 pick to take someone who immediately gives our offense some spark too! Get ur LT and LB later! By the way, if Floyd is gone, I am still looking at Gilmore, Ingram and Kirkpatrick before Keuchy.
  7. Keuchly will only be the 10th pick IF Nix thinks he will be an Urlacher type talent for us. LBs just don't go that high, nor should they in the new pass happy NFL. Again, Urlacher/Willis/Lewis types are the exception. One reason that I like Floyd is because the people who say no to him, without exception, point out his alcohol related problems and nothing on the field. Not making little of DUI's, but they never point out the hard work Floyd did to correct the problem. That should not be over looked and if the alcohol is the only issue with him, I feel he did enough to make me believe that it will not be a problem moving forward.
  8. LBs typically don't fit the bill at #10. I would be surprised if he was the pick unless they strongly feel he is a Urlacher/Willis/Lewis type impact.....
  9. I agree that this is most likely too. My darkhorse option at that pick is that DE/DT/OLB Ingram. If they are high on his ability, he could be the surprise pick. I doubt it, but would not be totally shocked if they did.
  10. I would not be upset with this draft. Good job!
  11. I am of the mindset that you draft a playmaker or possible franchise player at 10. I think M.Floyd will and should be that pick as he helps us win games. While we do need a LT, I don't think you need to take one at 10, nor should you unless you see him as a future Probowl Tackle. I cannot confidently say that about any LT prospect, not named Kalil. In Rieff, we don't know if we'd be getting Joe Thomas or Bulaga. I am more confident that Floyd will be a solid playmaker and really help cause some problems for opposing defenses. All that said to ask you all if anyone has a good breakdown of the Tackles left from rounds 2-5. I think this is what we will do. Remember, if you look at Nix history, he usually doesn't use 1st round picks on OL. In my ideal scenario, there is a LT projected for round 2 that slips to Round 3. That would allow us to take the CB/OLB that they graded as 1st round, but slipped to us in the 2nd ala Aaron Williams, then grabbing our LT in the 3rd. If a LB/CB they like is still around in round 3 after our pick, it's much easier fro us to trade back into that round. It would look like this: 1. M. Floyd 2. CB/OLB 3. LT 3/4. CB/OLB So I just put a lot of stuff out there....lol. Fellow Bills fans and (not so)professional draft scouts, please feel free to comment and offer commentary on the LTs you'd recommend we look at in rounds 2-5. Gracias! PS - I hope to see PTR comment on this as I usually like your posts a lot.
  12. Many people who did not favor T. Smith preferred D. Dixon. I was of that mindset. Dixon had better size for a QB.
  13. I don't think he'll be starting in Denver.....just a hunch.
  14. Per PFT, Dennis Dixon is visiting Denver. I have been of the mindset that Buffalo should have been inquiring about trading for him as a backup for some time now. Now that he is a UFA, I see no reason that we would not bring him in for a visit. I think he is an underrated athletic QB that Gailey could really coach up to fill the void if Fitz were hurt again or has regressed from his early season form from last year. Don't think he's cost much either. Am I missing something? POW!!!
  15. He looks extremely athletic in his highlights and i'm encouraged that he was mentioned as a good, if not willing blocker. My issue is that I did not see many routes where he was going inside. That scares me about some of those tall lanky WRs. As fast and gifted as you are on the vertical routes, I need you to also be physical and willing to go inside on crossing routes, which fits what Gailey's offense does. The reason so many hated on Lee Evans was because of that same reason. He was a one trick pony that only did fly routes. Prove to me otherwise and count me in for this guy. POW!!!
  16. So PFT is reporting that Claiborne will need wrist surgery due to an injury he sustained during the regular season game against Alabama. That said, he apparently had an excellent day at his Pro Day. Now, if he drops to #10 because of the injury concern, do you think Nix should draft him? I would draft him or Floyd....
  17. Hey fellow Bills fans! I am super excited at the moves we have made for our defense. I think it's safe to say that we will focus much of our draft on offense now. It seems that in regards to our #2 WR, the main options that have been put out there are either have us taking M. Floyd with the 10th pick or us taking Alshon Jeffery with the 42nd pick. Now I will be first to admit, going back when ND had both Floyd and G. Tate, I was wondering why everyone was all over Tate when I saw Floyd as the stud. However, I have watched highlight videos of both Floyd and Jeffery and I can't say that I see much difference in their talent level. In fact, I dare to say that Alshon looked to be more dominant vs the competition. I know both had off field issues and some say that Jeffery had motivation issues. My question is which WR do you think is better? Why? And when would you draft them? FWIW, I think that unless Buffalo resigns Bell, we will go OT in the 1st, unless a top 5 prospect drops. 1. Michael Floyd - WR Notre Dame 2. Stephon Gilmore - CB South Carolina 3. Best LT or LB Available or 1. Jonathan Martin - LT Stanford 2. Alshon Jeffery - WR South Carolina 3. Best LB or CB available
  18. As unlikely as it is that we would sign M. Williams, it would be interesting to see how hard we go after him, ESPECIALLY if Miami signs Manning. I mean, Williams was selected #1 overall specifically because the Texans had to face #18 twice a year. Now with Buffalo possible having to face both Manning AND Brady twice a year each, he has to be a top priority for the Bills. THROW THE BOAT AT THIS GUY!!! At least at the end of the day you can say that you tried. I think we actually may need him the most of any other team if this Manning to Miami goes through....
  19. Agreed on spending $ on the D-Line...the draft doesn't impress me. But it is deep according to Nix, so you could draft for depth if you pick up a DE in FA. Even taking the one of the best DTs in the draft if we picked up a DE in FA wouldn't bother me. Just look at what the Giants do.
  20. I mentioned in another threat that I would not be surprised nor upset if Floyd is the pick at 10, but it all depends on what we do here in FA. It is still quite possible we pick up a WR, like the much hyped VJax or even the more "Bills-like" approach and pick up someone like ATL's Harry Douglas as a #2. Either way, I think we still need 1 more receiver. I hope we address in FA, so we can focus on Def, OT and TE during the draft.
  21. I've heard Harry Douglas' name thrown out there a few times. #1, is he a UFA and 2, is he the type of #2 receiver we'd want? He seems to be in a bad situation in ATL stuck behind R. White and J. Jones. Thoughts?
  22. Whats the difference if they work out with their trainers vs the team. At least with the team, they get to know their future teammates. Whether they get hurt with their trainer or the team, they're still hurt. I think there is some caution in their regiment, but I don't see the problem. If i'm missing something, please educate me. POW!!!!
  23. Well if the Bills are in a position where they don't feel QB is a necessity, then that will be a great thing. Means we found out we truly do have a QB already on our roster. There is still a chance that Fitz proves to be that guy. POW!!!
