  1. The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of trading down. I think an extra pick or two in the early rounds could do wonders if we hit on the right guys.
  2. That's the approach I would take. Worked for the Jets, huh?
  3. As I stated earlier, I just came up with these numbers based on my opinions. Just my two cents on the issue. I, for one, highly doubt that Bradford falls to #9, so I left him out. But thats just my take on it based on what I've heard about him. McClain and Bryant would go under the 'stretch/reach pick category. Sorry, I didn't list every possible player there that I thought would qualify. It is open to intrepretation though. As for trading up, I never really thought of that as an option. I mean, the Bills COULD do it, but I don't see Nix doing it as he has stated we are building through the draft and trading up would most likely cost us valuable picks. Again, just my two cents.
  4. Unfortunately, you are correct. If somehow the first 8 picks are the 2 QBs, Dan Williams and the top 5 tackle prospects, then McClain would be a viable option. However, I would imagine the Bills trading down in that scenario. I just don't see the Bills taking McClain.
  5. That's a good scenario as well. And I agree, I would hate it if Miami grabbed Williams, whether or not they do, no one knows.
  6. Sorry, I didn't know that speculating is taboo here.
  7. As I prefaced, these are just numbers I came up with. No formulas or equations, just my thoughts. I didn't say DT wasn't a priority, I meant D. Williams as a bit of a reach player. I know we need a DT but I would prefer grabbing one in the 2nd, but thats just me.
  8. I don't disagree that Dan Williams is a first round pick, but he could go even further than Miami at #12, IMO. And good point on how Nix has the tackles rated, I think that will be the biggest influence on what we do at #9.
  9. That is true. I've always liked McClain, but I don't see the Bills taking a LB in the first round. If the QBs and LTs they like are gone, I'd bet they trade down, but that's my opinion. For the record, I wouldn't be totally upset if they did draft him though. A little yes, totally? No.
  10. I have been doing a lot of thinking about what the Bills may do in Round 1. There has been plenty of speculation here at TBD and I have found a few common ideas that are plausible and have given them a percentage chance of them happening. 70% - Bills draft a LT (Bulaga, Williams, etc.) 15% - Bills draft Jimmy Clausen. 10% - Bills trade down to pick up an extra pick in the 2nd or 3rd round. 5% - Bills take a reach/non-priority player (i.e. Dan Williams, Tim Tebow or C.J. Spillings) This is just my opinion on what goes down with pick #9. I think Nix is smart enough to know we need a LT, but I think he could still go for a QB like Clausen or even trade down. Not forgetting history, I felt compelled to throw in the 'we make a stupid pick' option. Have I got my numbers all wrong? Comments? Questions? I'm open for some discussion.
  11. I like the idea of Davis more, purely because he has 3-4 experience. With that being said, the Bills should look at both of them.
  12. 1. You don't even mention LT. 2. RB is not a priority, especially in the third. 3. Taking a DE with the #9 pick is a stretch. We could use one later on in like the 5th or 6th after other needs are addressed, but not in the first.
  13. Sleeper QB pick? I wouldn't doubt anything at this point.
  14. I have been a supporter of bringing in both Mawae and Foote as well. Seem like great stop-gap guys that will fit the system.
  15. Since when does just playing mean you played well? Rookies are forced into service by 'default' plenty of times. They don't always do well. That's like saying you could be pro bowl safety just because you had to play that position. Doesn't make much sense, does it? Wood, Levitre, Byrd and Nelson did play because they had to, but they did well because they are good players, not because getting the chance to play consitutes good execution. Also, I don't disagree that Maybin was picked too early, but he still didn't get utilized nearly as much as those other rookies like Byrd, Wood and Levitre.
  16. I like Foote as well. I haven't heard anything on him recently so I have no idea if he is inclined to go anywhere.
  17. I was thinking along those lines. I think Nix could easily bring in three reliable starters like you mention in the first two rounds. We could get our LT, NT and a LB all in the first two rounds!
  18. Makes sense to me. Gives them two good RBs so they can run a committee and Jones could help teach Charles some things. I mean, oh darn! Why didn't the Bills sign him? Why aren't we doing anything?
  19. If we move Lynch for more picks, etc. I would be okay with this pick.
  20. So YOU want to call me out for evaluating the talent we brought in last year, that actually go to play and performed well, then go on to make a judgement on a guy who didn't get his fair chance? That's what is weak.
  21. If the 49ers want to move up to get him, perhaps Nix is considering trading down and picking up extra picks in the process?
