  1. Does the franchise tag have any meaning without a CBA?
  2. McCarthy thought Alex Smith was the better choice between Rodgers/Smith, hahaha. So confident in Rodgers that they drafted Brohm! Sometimes things just work out. Jauron should have never been hired, but McCarthy would've probably suffered the same fate here without a good front office to make decisions for him.
  3. Reeds in, no Carter/Brown in final 10. No way he doesn't get in. Congrats!
  4. OP, why post one terribly written account about the staff when you've run across multiple scouts saying the same thing? I'd post more than one account if I were trying to prove the ineptitude of the South staff.
  5. Anyone but Edwards. Seeing our defense look lost/clueless as Brad Smith ran the option drove me nuts, Jets run that **** every week. Totally unprepared.
  6. Every time I watch Bama, he's making a play. Like him too. Game is a blow out, Dareus had two great quarters. Julio Jones is looking good too.
  7. 3 QB pressures, 1 hit, and one of his pressures caused an int. He's the real deal, played most of the season with a hurt ankle as well.
  8. I don't understand why the fans have to shred Fitzpatrick just to prove we need a QB. Yes, this team needs to draft and develop a QB. In the meantime Fitzpatrick is a decent stop gap until we draft one. Wouldn't be surprised if Fitz started the season next year at QB even if we do draft a QB. Stop shitting on the guy, he's giving us all he has.
  9. Merriman had 29.5 sacks in 28 games after being suspended for steroid use, then he blew out his knee. Since the NFL doesn't test for HGH, he could still be on something. His knee, and other ailments, are the biggest problem. If he was healthy he'd be productive. Can't do a thing when you don't have your legs.
  10. Our blitzes have been non-existent, no creativity, very little zone blitzing. Seems like Edwards is content with rushing 4 and dropping 7. The worst is when he drops 8, pressure zero.
  11. Maybin road his 11 sacks to a big pay day, he was 20 when he declared for the draft. Never should have come out but money was his biggest motivator. He'll turn 23 next year, about the same age as most kids drafted in '11. I'd give him one more year. Look at guys like Cameron Wake or James Harrison, late bloomers. Looking at Maybin, he doesn't have an ounce of pass rushing talent when he steps on the field. Then I remember his age, and the fact he came out way too early. Regardless, he probably has another training camp to show what he's got before getting the ax.
  12. Yeah, only because they have a better run defense. Bet if they had Fitzpatrick, and some better coaching they'd be a playoff contender.
  13. Where in the world is the zone blitz? It's the main reason you'd want to use a 3-4, and yet we're so generic up front. It seems like Edwards is content with playing 2 deep man under and rush 4 the entire game, it's really pathetic. He's in over his head. My questions is, why/how was hired at Florida and then Buffalo? It's not like we were the only program that saw potential in him, something's missing. He's going to get the ax, it's inevitable at this point, unless we see a massive turnaround in our D.
  14. He almost had a sack, Garrad got away however. More than we can say about a certain 1st round draft pick.
  15. What's funny is that it was once our strength, Fewell neutralized TEs. IF you look at our stats under him, TEs rarely destroyed us. It's a weekly occurrence now, but when Kelsay's dropping into coverage what do you expect.
  16. Technically he was hired by the University of Florida as DC under Urban Meyer, but left/turned it down to take the job in Buffalo.
  17. Read somewhere that Incognito didn't want to play up in Buffalo, and asked to be released.
  18. Won't happen with the moves made last offseason, but if he was given the money & autonomy he'd definitely do it. He spends a lot of time in Saratoga, he'd be able to run the team and enjoy his horses, and it's not like he's not up for another challenge.
  19. Carrington barely played, saw a lot of time near the end of the 3rd and 4th when the game was out of reach. Spencer Johnson is the guy they were running at. I love how the OP is not even sure what Carrington did, but decided to group him in with Troup.
  20. Maybin has the same body Orakpo did as a freshman.
  21. Fred on the other hand has had some monster games against the Pats.
  22. Would have been happy with either, and I'm not going on hindsight . Both guys played at a big time school, contributed for multiple seasons, played in huge games and played good/great while doing so. I knew Matthews wasn't going to get chosen, but passing on Cushing was even more boneheaded because of his versatility. He could cover and rush, fit in both a 3-4 and 4-3. I was thankful at the time that the Pats traded out of the 1st and passed up on Matthews. I was really worried at the time that they would snag him, especially with OLB being a need. Seeing him twice a year would be murder.
  23. How many mock drafts had Clausen in the 1st round this year? Too many. How many mocks had E.Brown in the 1st round last season? Too many. !@#$ mock drafts, unless they're done by a former scout (see Daniel Jeremiah who's now with the Eagles). Don Banks had Youboty in the first round in his '06 mock drafts, we got him in the 3rd. Mock drafts are time wasters unless they're done by people who've scouted for a living. I'm not saying Maybin was a 2nd/3rd round talent, I'm not a football scout so I have no clue, but we shouldn't be surprised by statements like this. Everyone evaluates talents differently. Look at Jerry Hughes with the Colts. Scouts raved about him, so did his college coaches, and yet he can't find the field with the Colts. Granted, they already have 2 outstanding DEs, but he's been deactivated both games and the Colts feel that he's trying to get by on his "athleticism" which doesn't work in the NFL. Hughes needs to develop pass rushing moves, self-admittedly, before he'll step foot on an NFL field. Sound familiar? Except we don't have the luxury to wait on someone's eventual development (if it ever happens). I still I have no idea how a coach whose job security was in question at the time, doesn't lobby the FO to take a NFL ready player like Brian Cushing. Fine, Orkapo/Matthews were seen as tweeners, wtf is Maybin? Take Cushing, a guy who played in a 4-3 under scheme for all 4 years, coached by former NFL coaches and players. I get angry just thinking about it.
  24. At least Gailey mentioned that Moats would be moving to the outside next season. They should give Moats/Maybin/Coleman all of Kelsay's snaps, they're as good as he is in rushing the passer.
  25. He should be relegated to backing up both tackle spots, put Meredith in his spot. At least we may have something with him, Green is awful and will be out of the league in no time.
