  1. This link says the 15-year old was a prostitute who was likely punched by her pimp. So it wasn't the forcible rape of a 15 year old, it was just an arranged sexual rendevous with a 15 year-old runaway who has been sold into a life of sexual slavery. So...um...did the story just get better or worse for LT?
  2. +1 I don't mind that we paid him Larry Fitzgerald money because it makes no sense to let go of one of our few talented players, but let's not pretend that was a fair market contract.
  3. Let's wait to see how Torrell Troup and Kyle Williams perform at the nose before suggesting no one will be able to run against us. Oh, and did you realize that we have no outside linebackers currently on the roster? If you think Maybin is a natural for OLB, you may want to ask yourself why Perry Fewell preferred Bryan Scott at the position late in the year. It may be easy to run to the outside and up the middle.
  4. You've got 3 inside LBs. Only Maybin is OLB. Mitchell will play inside this year, as does Davis. We need the guys we drafted to contribute. Thinking they're camp taclking dummies is nuts.
  5. Exactly right. It's not clear that the 2010 staff on the whole is better than last year's. We automatically upgraded at HC once we fired Jauron and Gailey is without a doubt a solid coordinator but much of the rest of the staff has a lot of people in their job for the 1st time at the NFL level or were picked out of cronyism.
  6. Sure. But this many? And for such key roles? You're encouraged by this?
  7. There are a lot of people who think Dick Jauron oveachieved with this roster and the new staff is worse than the old one. These people obviously don't watch Bills games, but I could see why this roster looks like the one of the bottom 4 in football. Hell, I'm hoping Troup, Carrington, Easley, Wang, and Batten all start THIS YEAR.
  8. Great signing...but expects our dreams to be dashed when NFL RBs run around him on the outside because he lacks the speed to keep contain.
  9. Gailey would have been a great choice as offensive coordinator. I am at peace with the selection. But yeah, bringing his whole staff from Ga Tech is a really bad sign. Were those really the best candidates? Did more established coaches not want to work with him?
  10. Of course we're picking up OLBs. We don't have any OLBs on our roster. We tendered a 215 pounder who will be cut and have a bunch of 4-3 DEs. If Danny Batten can adjust to LB, he has a decent a chance to start opposite Maybin. And if Antonio Coleman is fast enough to make the team on the outside, he has a chance to start by week 9 when Maybin heads to the bench. Hell, Arthur Moats might be the best OLB on the team even thought they're starting him out as Poz's back-up.
  11. Nix and Gailey realize that Trent Edwards clearly has better measurables than anyone in the 2010 draft aside from Bradford. It was the smart move to pass on other Qbs every bit as likely to fail in the nearly impossible circumstances Edwards has faced. The point here is not that Edwards is good -- let's face it, he was horrible last year. The point is that bringing in any of the options available to us would have only compounded the problem. Chan knows what he's doing on offense. Let's take a step back, take a deep breath, and see what he can get out of Edwards this season. If Edwards is still garbage, send him on his way. But Edwards is the starter in 2010. Let there be no mistake about that,
  12. It was a smart decision by Nix and Gailey to go with Trent as the starter in 2010. I think that it makes a lot of sense to give him one last chance, especially with a young team that is rebuilding. The guy was horrendous last year. I get that. I watched the games. But he was put in an impossible situation with decision to gut the offensive line and the total chaos surrounding the strategic direction of the offense. He was shell-shocked. Fitzy was the better player to deal with the protection breakdowns and still go through the progressions. But Nix and Gailey discounted the disaster of 2009 and focus instead on mid-2007 and early 2008 (including the Chargers game after his concussion) when Trent showed that he can be a top-10 NFL quarterback. He reacted to struggles by throwing coaches under the bus and that hurt him with teammates and led turds like Donte Whitner to jump all over him. That doesn't matter now because those coaches are gone and the losers like Whitner may soon be following them. Trent could be gone in a year, but at least Gailey will have seen what he needs to see to make that call. He is almost certainly our 2010 starter.
  13. Just glad to see "pro style offense" in the post.
  14. Right. But who's scouting report was he relying on when he made his final say? Kiper's? McShay's?
  15. Modrak is the Bills' chief college scout. He is in charge of the draft. He may get overruled and he may not have as much input on trades and the like as some suggest. But does every one of his picks get overruled? Is he not responsible for encouraging the powers that be to trade up to land someone he likes? Maybe Jauron/TD/etc selected positions, but they relied on Modrak's talent evaluation. He liked Cushing for OLB, but who did he have as his top DE? Aaron Maybin. I really do not understand the excuse-making for a guy who more than anyone else is responsible for this train wreck of a roster.
  16. Exactly right. Brown wrote multiple pieces on how Orakpo took plays off. Unfortunately, he failed to note that he wreaked havoc against the run and pass on the other plays.
  17. Evans was paid $11,730,770, but the cap hit was less due to proration.
  18. PFT: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/...ion-guaranteed/ Marshall gets almost $30 million in first three years. The immediate comparison is of course Larry Fitz. Funny that no one outside of WNY remembers that gave Lee Evans ANY EVEN BETTER contract. Lee gets less over 4 years than Fitz, but that's because his contract is front-loaded. He collects more than $33 million over his first three years -- more than any WR in history. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...t=NFL&id=26 Look -- I don't care that we resigned Lee Evans for too much money. Why not? He's talented and we're not up against the cap. Keep decent players rather than create new holes. Same basic argument for not signing Peters. But that's the point -- we overpaid more for Evans than we would have for Peters and it's easier to find a top flight replacement for WR (see the Dolphins) than for LT.
  19. Would an additional allegation of the same sort impact your views?
  20. Sorry, but superficial rankings of this sort have no business on this board...unless they show Jason Peters sucks, in which case they will be embraced enthusiastically.
  21. Exactly (although, in fairness our secondary looks set after all of the investments made there during the old regime). Gotta trade down when you have this many holes.
  22. Not sure what roster you're looking at to think there are so many "non-need" positions. Beyond LT I see NT, WR, C, RT, ILB, and OLB (not seeing Kelsay fitting in rushing off the edge of dropping in coverage). If the run on OTs happens, you either take McClain (best available) or hope Clausen is still there and trade down to an organization high on him. We need LOTS of help. If Nix is the talent evaluator we think/hope he is, we need those picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds more than the move up to 4 overall.
  23. This article proves that the franchise is not a disgrace because Donovan McNabb would not come to the Bills because the the franchise is a disgrace? Who knows what the sources Jason Cole contacted know or don't know, but anyone thinking we could land McNabb without paying a significant premium were deluding themselves anyway.
  24. This is meaningless. The best LT had 2.5 blown pass blocks. The worst had 11. Given an average of 60 offensive snaps per game and about 30 pass plays (more, actually for Philly given their offensive system) this works out to 480 pass plays per season. So the difference between the best and the worst is that the "best" blows blocks on 0.5% of plays and the "worst" blows blocks on 2.3% of plays. Given the push certain players generate (or don't generate), I'd say the performance on plays where they don't "blow" blocks is a hell of a lot more important than how many blocks they blow during the course of the season.
  25. Least appreciated Bill of all-time. Haven't had a guy open holes in the interior like him since. Sure, he held a lot and got called for it from time to time. But if you don't have any appreciation for his career after having this long to reflect on it, you are crazy my friend.
