  1. The Bills might well be able to hire John Fox as a DC this winter. And if Mike Holmgren cleans house in Cleveland (today notwithstanding) Mangini and Rob Ryan would be available. And there's always the imminently-fired Wade Phillips.

Hell yea, I would take any of those guys. I don't think Fox runs 34 and could be viewed as inhouse threat to Chan so probably not. Wade would be great but noway he comes back here. So That leaves us with Ryan who is just like Rex so he would be my ideal choice because that Jets/old Ravens D was awesome. We should have gone after Dave Bates if we wanted a good 34 coordinator.

  2. This week everyone can get a much clearer look at the true Ryan Fitzpatrick, and why he will always be a backup. Jacksonville is terrible, and having a good game against the worst secondary in the league doesn't prove much of anything. A solid Baltimore defense is going to put him on lockdown, and his QB rating will fall.

Care to revise that nuthugger of Polian? Fitz is a top ten QB right now and will get better with time. Brees, Brady, Flacco aren't physical specimens but they are great leaders with guts who get the job down and that's what Fitz is.

    • Fitz is a gamer. Not Manning, but a good QB who will be the perfect guy to school a developing QB. Smart, gutsy, understands situations. Unlike any QB we've had in a long, long time. Just wish that Trent hadn't been so good in practice to distract the coaches from the obvious choice for gameday. Might have won those first two games when our defense was showing up.
    • We have a #2 receiver, it just took a while for him to emerge.
    • Anyone notice how well our OLine blocked the freaking Ravens? Cord Howard looked better than anyone we've had at RT since Butler's second season. Bell did a fine job, too.
    • Best playcalling I've seen from the Bills in a long, long time. And they kept delivering despite playing such a dominant D. I think Chan's gonna give us consistent production.

    The bad:

    • Fu%$ing refs. If forward progress doesn't happen when the defenders pick you up and drive you backwards, then there's no such thing as forward progress.
    • Maybin was a healthy scratch today, which tells me that that Jauron selection will be traded for a ham sandwich this offseason. We can always pretend he was injured or something.
    • Where the hell is Byrd? I haven't seen him make a play all season. Makes me wonder if it's scheme-related, cuz I'm not going to question his ability. I will, however, question Whitner's. Talk about hands of stone - he had the game in his hands. Man I can't stand guys with big mouths who play small.
    • Hold on to the fu%$ing ball.

Man Maybin must be really stinking up the joint in practice to be scratched. I new he was the wrong pick for us (Matthews, Orakpo,Cushing, anyone) but he is getting worse and worse.

I think the refs made the right call on the fumble but the interception in the end zone should have counted.

  3. We need to go DL or pashrusher first then OT.

    1. Adrian Clayborn DE Iowa 6'3" 285 / Robert Quinn OLB North Carolina 6'5" 268

    2. Marcus Cannon ROT TCU 6'5" 350 /Gabe Carimi ROT Wisc 6'7" 320

    3. Kendrick Ellis NT Hampton 6'5" 340

    4. Matt Reynolds LOT BYU 6'6" 330

  4. THE officiatiing WAS bad AGAIN,what a joke the leageue office should be ashadmed of them self a complete desasater again, the NFL IS a complete JOKE.

I am not one to complain about the officiating but I have watched 5 games in the last two weeks in which the officials handed a victory to the favorite. It really makes you wonder. The other game that made me sick to my stomach was the Denver/Jets game last Sunday. Do you guys remember the days of the Protest in the MLB????? What would happen in this day and age if a coach and owner pulled his squad off the field in protest. Obviously you lose but wouldn't that send a message to the league that something needs to be looked at?

You can't pull the team off the field there has to be a better way, like take a ref hostage :flirt:

  5. Fitz has been great and may get me off the Luck bandwagon. He had a few bad passes but so does every QB, that reed interception should have been caught by parish(?). Which brings us to the real problem today was guys fumbling and dropping the ball (and the D is still bad)plus we got screwed on that interception in the end zone which takes away 7 and we win :wallbash:

  6. No field goals or extra points. Touchdown will be 7 points unless a 2 point conversion is desired. The twenty yard line will be the field goal line/3point line, after FG is made a team gets the same opportunity to score a touchdown (four points)as they normally would but with a new set of downs.

The reason is football should be decided by football not kickers plus there would be a lot more fourth down conversion attempts adding to the excitement/drama of the game.

  7. All these sissy rules surrounding the QB and now suspending players for hitting too hard :wallbash: Then collage rules for passing; 1 foot, 15 yds, bump all the way down the feild.

But most importantly no field goals or extra points. Touchdown will be 7 points unless a 2 point conversion is desired. The twenty yard line will be the field goal line/3point line, after FG is made team gets the same opportunity to score a touchdown (four points)as they normally would but with a new set of downs.

  8. ...as a true contender to the QB we've all been searching for since Kelly left the stage. When you look at his stats over his last five starts (last two games in '09 and the first three in '10) you come to realize that these are not the stats of a backup player. Extrapolated over a 16 game season, these are the numbers of a top tier NFL QB. So what is there to get excited about this year? How about the prospect of Bills fans finding out their franchise QB is already here. This is not a prediction that he will be that, just that Bills fans need to see the very good work he's been doing and the prospect that he just might continue to do so...

    Fitzpatrick's last 5 starts...

    11 TDs / 3 interceptions

Average TDs per game - 2.2 (35 TDs in a 16 game season)

Average yards per game - 185.6 (2969 yards in a 16 game season)

    Average QB rating - 100.66

As a comparison, here are Jim Kelly's 1990 Superbowl season stats (14 games)

    Total TDs - 24

    Total yards - 2829

    Yards per game - 202.1

    Rating - 101.2

    Cue the haters...

He is a great leader but needs to get serious about the weight room if he wants to be the man.

  9. I have mixed feelings about Poz. He's one of our cornerstone players (hold on poz haters). But the question is what does that mean, and is that saying much?

Does that mean he's the best on a team totally lacking high end talent, but in comparison to other cornerstone LB's, really not very good? Or is he individually more talented than he's able to showcase because of those around him? And therefor just simply needs upgrades around him for his potential to materialize? I'll submit when Poz is out, this team is noticeably worse and misses him sorely on the field. But again I ask, does this mean he's missed because of how good he is, or because the rest of the team is just that bad?

These are the million dollar questions, and the heart of the debate.

    My personal feelings are;

My heart tells me Poz can be an impact player if the supporting cast was better. But my brain tells me he just isn't a great talent. If you're great you're great, no matter who's around you. In fact your greatness elevates those around you, and they are the one's that look better because of you. If you can't inspire greatness out of others, how can you yourself be great? So in conclusion, I think Poz is a decent player. He's a good tackler and has a nose for the ball. He lacks the overall speed and strength needed to maximize his instincts. He's a hard working smart football player, that just doesn't have the god given skill set to be an impact Linebacker.

doesn't fit 34 and makes tons of tackles but always down the field. He needs to show some nasty out there decimating players not grab and roll them to the ground. Poz if you are reading this look at Clay Matthews, he plays with a vengeance, tries to rip guys heads off and plays like every play is his last. If you can do that you would be great but thus far it's not happening.

  10. We all know this year is a wash but keep in mind that Nix was heavily involved in San Diego's rise to prominence and he was also here during the glory years till John Butler left. He may have overestimated the D players ability to switch to a 3/4 and I still hate the Spiller pick but he figures he could be the next LT and has been cutting/trading the dead wood around here like crazy. Some how Luck (if he is smart he will not pull a Linert and stay in, You can't get any higher than the first pick) will come out and we will draft him and we will be on the upswing from there.

  11. Let's suppose the Bils go 0-16 and have the 1st pick. No way in hell Bills use that pick to draft a player. They trade it, and here's why.

The biggest reason they trade out of it is because...

Ralph ain't going to pony up $30M in guaranteed money to an unproven player... especially given the Bills track record of drafting over the past 10 years.

Reason #2 is because they need so many players. This team is so bad the NFL could give them five picks in the top 15 of the 2011 draft and the Bills would still end up drafting in the top five in 2012.

I thought today's attendance would be 53,000 or less. Well, there must 5,000 fans into self flagellation, cuz just watching this team on TV or listening on the radio is sadistic torture.

When the Bills are winless at Christmas, will that be enough to send attendance to an all time low, or will that happen sooner?

We never trade back to get more picks like we should have this past offseason. We had the #1 and picked Bruce, if we get it this year we will draft Luck. Ralph can't stand empty pockets ... er seats so he will do whatever he can to get more people in there to make money.
