  1. Ill never forget when he hurdled a lineman believe it was Richmond Webb of the fins, to get to the QB, man I am gettin old. I remember OJ in old fashion cars throwing us oranges and slapping us five in old fashion convertables going down Deleware Ave.

Bad Things would be awesome before the game!

  2. As a where are they now moment, Schwartz took a consulting position with the NFL's officiating department to provide a coaches perspective on officiating decisions. On October 6th it was reported Schwartz declined the opportunity to replace Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle. Is anyone else thinking he should be head coach of this team today? At 3-3 (barely) we are still alive but these players are truly uninspired and lacking discipline. We know we have talent on D but even Mario says the coaches aren't putting them in the position to do damage. Bring Back the Schwartz. Make him an offer he can't refuse.

I can't remember why he still isn't here but we sure could use that scheme back.

Agree, especially the D line... looks like they are confused with their assignments, late off the ball and Rex looks confused. Is it an issue of wrong talent for a rex D or his new coaches don't know how to explain it

  3. It's amazing. At first it sounds like real paranoid, tin-foil hat kind of stuff, but it's happening. In business, in politics and now sports: a large organization like the NFL, or NBC, with a vested interest in making this all go away, making things seem on the up-and-up, shaping the conversation to their benefit, making it look as "real" as possible.

Well, at least it helps one keep their b#llsh#t detector sharp.

Yes its done often and has been for a long time... used to do it with editorial comments on political items when i did campaign work... my dog wrote in a few timed!
  4. It's not really that complex. You throw in a clause that covers everything you didn't think of. I'm sort of amazed they didn't already.

In the event that a player commits a crime, violates a stated NFL rule or policy, or conspires with other individuals to violate stated NFL rules or policies which have not been specifically addressed elsewhere within this Collective Bargaining Agreement, the minimum punishment "shall" be a suspension without pay of no less than two regular season or playoff games or a combination thereof, whichever occurs first. The Commissioner shall retain the right to evaluate all cases without known precedent on a case by case basis and implement additional penalties up to and including indefinite suspension without pay. Appeals of punishments in excess of the 2 game minimum shall immediately proceed to binding arbitration be heard by an, independent, qualified, individual of mutual agreement to the League and NFLPA. The arbitrator shall have the authority to render summary judgement and implement punishment no greater than that originally sought by the league and no less than the established 2 game minimum.

True but they key is the word "shall", if "may" is used then this paragraphy becomes arbitrary and capricious... and any decent lawyer can drive a truck through it.... wait... ! didn't that just happen????

    See? Done.

Pain in the neck using iphone on this...
  5. Paragraph 15 of the NFL Player Contract says they do.

    15. INTEGRITY OF GAME. Player recognizes the detriment to the League and professional football that would result from impairment of public confidence in the honest and orderly conduct of NFL games or the integrity and good character of NFL players. Player therefore acknowledges his awareness that if he accepts a bribe or agrees to throw or fix an NFL game; fails to promptly report a bribe offer or an attempt to throw or fix an NFL game; bets on an NFL game; knowingly associates with gamblers or gambling activity; uses or provides other players with stimulants or other drugs for the purpose of attempting to enhance on-field performance; or is guilty of any other form of conduct reasonably judged by the League Commissioner to be detrimental to the League or professional football, the Commissioner will have the right, but only after giving Player the opportunity for a hearing at which he may be represented by counsel of his choice, to fine Player in a reasonable amount; to suspend Player for a period certain or indefinitely; and/or to terminate this contract.

The problem here is two fold, the NFL had only circumstantial evidence, couldnt demand his cell, they are not a legal authority thus Brady had no obligation to make it available, so the obstruction charges after they concluded the investigation are bogus even though what Brady did is BS. Finally all QBs manipulate balls drag them scuff them etc and work with some sort of air pressure so enforce this rule with no previous history of enforcement or standard to enforce is bs imo normal law enforcement has known enforcement standards andvwhen broken they get in trouble so really this has been fun and while i think Brady is an arrogant prick so is the NFL and I luv seeing them pitted against each other. Now uf only whaley could be added to that mess I would be really happy.

  6. Teams never wins championships because they have the best O-line. The teams that have drafted OL high without a good QB still don't get much better.

Really? Redskins won 2 superbowls without a legit QB, but outstanding o-line, Ravens won 1 with oline and D and who is Trent Dilfer.... Who also won at TB under same scenario. Heck, the boys kicked Bills butts because of oline in SB.... So to say the least, I disagree...
  7. Three things Miami has on us from an outsiders perspective:

    South Beach > Buffalo

    Money > taxes

    QB > committee

Collins has many factors to contribute to his choice, these are just three that favor Miami. Let's hope he is more interested in winning, finding a for and being a career stud than hanging on the beach tax free.

Three things Buffalo has or doesn't have on Miami

Low crime and less opportunity to get in trouble.

Good schools, FLA schools sucks for raising kids money is going to support retirement community.

Less media for a guy that obviously needs to lay low for a little while in a forgiving community that will appreciate him if he does well.

Depends what he wants and that will tell everyone a lot about whether we will see this situation repeat itself or not...

  8. As much as we all love Thurman, who was a great all-round back, OJ Simpson in his prime was the greatest running back in NFL history, with the possible exception of Jim Brown. Thurman does not belong in that conversation. Ask anyone who played with or against OJ in the early 70s.

Agreed, the debate is between the two and OJ was top dog, the man was a track star at usc, could run a 9.4 100 and still run a guy over. There is a reason he is blowing buy everyone, he was that fast. Only Cliff Branch WR Okland, was faster during those days. AP is the closest but not sure he has OJs upper body strength though probably thicker in his legs.

Remember OJ ran for 2003 yards in 14 games. No one has done that since, not AP, not anyone. Great book I still have titled Csonka Simpson Sayers and Brown tells of OJs exploits.

  9. I said near the end of the season, draft 2OL, a running back, LB, safety and at least 1 QB. PU a ufa, draft a QB every year until one hits. It is not a waste, just a crap shoot and you have to keep rolling till a QB comes up. Still draft one this year no matter how weak you think the draft is. P.S. Is Hunley gonna be around in the 2nd?

  10. that's a great avatar!! :worthy: was talking about the 'french connection' just the other day..

On the Sabres website www.sabrespace.com I am part of Tank Nation known as icehole. Still play hockey... and those three with RJ and OJ were some of my earliest sports memories.

  11. I don't like the idea of picking a project QB in the second round with our current QB situation.

Agreed, I do think if he or any of the other lowely rated QBs are around in the 4th or 5th round then great, but not until they draft a lineman and a linebacker and possibly another TE.
