  1. My thoughts regarding our stadium situation is to build a state of the art complex on the American side of the mighty Niagara Falls. The era of the Ralph is quickly coming to an end. It's been a heckuva ride, but change is not necessarily a bad thing.

Butt it up next to the falls, give it a retractable roof, with the understanding it stays open for all Bills' games. It would be a wonderful venue in a popular setting, instantly giving the wonderful Niagara area a much needed shot in the arm.

    Thoughts?

Would give distraught fans the chance to jump after games too 0:)

  2. No idea if there's already another topic on this subject, but I was reading through all the headlines from the game yesterday and the Toronto reporters continue to have no problem bashing the whole idea of the Bills playing there. It seems that most articles out of Toronto just reiterate how horrible attending a Bills game is. I understand that most of the Bills games there so far have been unexciting, but if they can't appreciate last night's game, what can they ever appreciate? I can't fully express how much this annoys me right now, but I do know that for all that the Bills put us through, us true Bills fan do appreciate what we have.

Is anyone else annoyed with this attitude coming from Toronto?

  3. I completely disagree with anyone that says Evans stinks. When the ball is put near his hands, how many times can you think of where Evans has dropped the ball? It may be debatable whether Evans is getting open or not, but I can assure you that if I were the QB, Evans wouldn't have many catches no matter how open he is. My point is how can anyone judge Evans with the current clowns under center?

Here's an article reiterating the fact that Evans has great hands:

    http://www.aaronschatz.com/stat-analysis/2...nsive-drop-rate

"As for the receivers with the best hands? Five players were not registered with a single drop, including Greg Camarillo (73 targets), Robert Meachem (66), Pierre Thomas (45), Brian Westbrook (34), and Delanie Walker (33). T.J. Houshmandzadeh only dropped two passes on 140 targets, which seems like a function of his usage pattern, but it's hard to reconcile that logic when Lee Evans only dropped one of the 95 targets thrown to him.

Finally, the two-year totals (minimum: 30 targets in each season). The "best hands" group would have made for a hell of an offense in their respective peaks, with Brian Westbrook (0.9 percent Drop Rate) at halfback, Sidney Rice (1.3 percent) and Lee Evans (1.5 percent) at wideout, and Tony Gonzalez (1.7 percent) catching whatever's left at tight end.

The offense on the other side of things would not be as effective; in fact, most of the players involved are available for pretty cheap these days. Marshawn Lynch (15.4 percent Drop Rate) is the halfback, James Jones (9.8 percent) and Mark Bradley (9.3 percent) are the wideouts, and Donald Lee (12.5 percent) is the tight end."

  4. 1990 backfield:

    Kenny Davis

    Don Smith

    Thurman Thomas

    Jamie Mueller

    Carwell Gardner

    Larry Kinnebrew

How did that team even lose a game?? I'd plan on brighter days with Marshawn / Freddie / CJ carrying the party tray.

Depends on what you mean by "stocked". If you mean a lot of quality RBs, I would argue that we are more stocked TODAY. Outside of Thurman, our current RBs are probably better than all of the other RBs above. Kenny was a good change of pace back, but I could probably argue that Jackson, Lynch and Spiller are all better RBs. Spiller still needs to prove it, but I'm betting he will have the best career out of our current group of RBs.

Problem is, you could have 5 starting RBs, but you can't get them all 20 carries a game. I'd rather have one Thurman with a Kenny as backup, than three pretty good RBs.

  5. This is from Chris Brown at BB.com today.

    DT Williams tops as playmaker

    By Chris Brown - Posted May 11, 2010 – 8:00 am

Looks like Aaron Schobel isn’t the only Bills player with league best playmaking ability at his position.

On Monday we showed how AdvancedNFLStats determined playmaking ability through new statistical models that measure WPA or positive win probability added and EPA or positive expected points added.

“+WPA” and “+EPA” add up the value of every sack, interception, pass defense, forced fumble or recovery, and every tackle or assist that results in a setback for the offense.

What these stats measure ultimately is playmaking ability.

For 2009 Aaron Schobel ranked number one among defensive ends in this statistical model. Kyle Williams was also the top ranked performer at his position, defensive tackle.

Williams not only had the highest WPA, but he highest EPA as well. His WPA of 1.99 was far and away the top mark as was his EPA of 54.1. Atlanta’s Jordan Babineaux was second in both categories (1.67 and 46).

Williams was also number one in tackle factor (1.33), which goes far beyond measuring just the number of tackles accumulated by a player. Philadelphia’s Mike Patterson was second (1.27).

Here’s the top 15 list of DT playmaking ability and it should be noted that Bills DT Marcus Stroud ranked 10th, despite a season in which he played through three different nagging injuries.

    95-K.Williams BUF

    95-J.Babineaux ATL

    90-D.Dockett ARZ

    94-J.Smith SF

    93-K.Williams MIN

    90-J.Ratliff DAL

    92-A.Haynesworth WAS

    96-T.Knighton JAX

    95-A.Adams CHI

    99-M.Stroud BUF

    75-V.Wilfork NE

    92-R.Ayodele NO

    94-P.Williams MIN

    90-D.Muir IND

    68-E.Foster IND

I know Williams has a high motor, but come on. Reading BB.com is like reading a George Orwell novel.

  6. Keep in mind also that the drafting of Rivers at #4 overall served as a wake-up call for Brees, driving him to work harder and raise his game to new levels. Brees has specifically brought that up in interviews.

I don't see the drafting of Levi Brown at #209 overall as having the same effect.

Good point. Expect Lynch to have a big season.

  7. I think that Gailey is siting back and looking at his weapons with a big smile! With Spiller and Jackson as a one two punch the team has unlimitted possiblities. T.O. was OK last year but I think our offense was predictable because once Lynch came back there was no screen option unless Fred was in the backfield! Face it Lynch is not a good receiver and that is his biggest weakness. With two backs that can catch I think the tight end routes will be open all day! Much like it was at the beginning of last year before Lynch came back and had to get his touches. I think this will free up Nelson who is a great talent. I say 60 catches 10 TD's!!!

Sounds good but what QB is going to be getting Nelson the ball?

  8. I'm with you on the undersized Tampa 2 thing, but I'm still not convinced by the switch to the 3-4. I feel like unless you have elite talent on your line teams have an easier time running on a 3-4.

You're right, switching to a 3-4 isn't easy. Hopefully some of the guys the Bills drafted can help with that conversion. If Schobel comes back, I really question where he is going to fit in.

  9. I don't get this mentality. Let's sacrifice next year for a good QB in two years? Stockholm Syndrome is the only explanation....

So what QB would you have brought in that is a sure bet to be better than what we have? The Bills need some beef on that team. Best thing they've done so far is not draft any guys for the secondary. If the QBs still can't get it done with beef around them, then we make a pick for your QB. But it has been a long time since the Bills addressed that problem. Last year's draft with Wood, Levitre & Nelson was the first step. Keep it going.

  10. I think we all need to sit tight w/ the QB apprehension. Although, I too am frustrated w/ the lack of a LT to be drafted. We have to assume that there is something else going on there. I cannot imagine Nix, and the run savey Gailey ignoring the desperate need to fill that gap.

With that being said, We have 3 QBs on the roster. IMO you need to let Edwards & Brohm duke it out. Yes, the BS talk of salvaging Edwards is just like having mamma bird ram our regurgitated dinner down our throats but we have him signed, TO is gone, we are not making the playoffs again so give him a gut check & see what happens. Fitz is a career back up. If he stays he stays. Now Brohm...................this kid has talent. He threw for over 4000yds @ Louisville, he was a Heisman candidate, had over 155 QB rating every yr and hes a big durable kid. I kept getting texts furious why the Bills didn't draft Clausen, then McCoy.......we have a great young kid in the barn. I love his mechanics too. I think this kid beats Trent & Fitz out hands down!!! Still cant believe he was behind Flynn in GB.

Totally agree. The more I consider what they've done, I like the fact that they are beefing up the team. If we weren't getting Bradford and you don't rank Clausen/others head & shoulders above our current crop of QBs, then why take one? If the Bills continue to suck with their current crop of QBs, we will be lined up to get a QB high in the draft next year. At least then we will have some beef & experience on our lines.

  11. Ellis won't even be considered for a position on the D-Line. Even making a comparison of Ellis and Carrington shows the ignorance and idiocy of the poster. Do a little research before you make your moronic comments.

This, IMO, is a pretty good pick. Schobel is up in the air, Stroud isn't a natural 3-4 end, along with S. Johnson or Williams. Carrington can stop the run and I can picture him as a DLE similar to Hansen, with a bit more rush ability.

My post was more a criticism of Ellis than Carrington. I really do hope Carrington ends up panning out better than Ellis. If he plays one down, he will.

  12. There is only a few problems...Stroud isn't a DE in a 3-4 nor is Kelsay, and Carrington is a 4-3 DE. I'll give you Edwards. Troup weight is that of a DT. Schobel has never played 3-4 before, Lankster is practice squad material, McGee and McKelvin are short going against tall guys like Holmes, Marshall, and Moss. Whitner is an average player.

Other than that, I'd say the defense has a ton of potential.

You need to start drinking the buffalobills.com kool-aid

  13. I would say Kelsay's days are numbered, Edwards is still possibly an injury risk and Spencer Johnson probably isn't suited for the 3-4. Carrington is a pretty damn good pick to really strengthen a front 7 that has been seriously upgraded this off-season.

Maybe Carrington will be as good as Chris Ellis???
