  1. Sammy seems envious of the attention other players are getting. He has all of the ability and no reliability.

I remember questioning his smarts last year when he turned a sure touchdown into a long pass because he was watching himself on the Jumbotron.

He may want to take a good look at himself now. I see a soft player that thinks he is the best out there. I like his confidence but he is soft and I'm sure a coach like Parcels would let him know. Sammy is becoming the anti-beast mode.

  2. The worst defense we have had in 3 years. I'm not impressed by Thurman's scheme's. Rex is ultimately responsible. The defense has been paid based on their performance of past couple of years. If I am Pegula, I tell Rex to scheme similar to the years past or move on because it seems as though Pettine had a better understanding of integrating the scheme with the personnel better than Rex.. Rex has turned these guys into rich fat cats. There is no fire anymore. I haven't the consistent big plays like we had in the past.

  3. Most of us believe Rex can get more victories out of this team than Marrone. I would have no problem going out on a limb with a 10-6 or even an 11-5 record.

I believe our cornerbacks need big help from what I have seen in the preseason. Our QB has not shown that he can throw a deep ball or touchdowns. How many QB's can win a starting job without throwing a TD? However if he can perform better than Orton we should have a shot at the playoffs. I'm trusting Whaley and Rex but we have a lot to prove. Either way I'm pumped

  4. stack the box...

that leaves sammy, clay and harvin in single coverage.

    can't wait.

If our offensive line plays well he will be fun to watch but there are obvious concerns with Tyrod. Let me ask you how many deep balls have you seen him complete?

How many touchdowns has he thrown this pre-season? He is fun to watch but can he put points on the board. No matter how good your running game is you have to put points on the board. All preseason I was waiting for touchdown passes and I did not see any from him. You make him beat you with his arm. He is much better than I remember at VT but there are still questions.

  5. Interesting comments on RG3, although the Bills are my team I have had Redskins seasons tickets for the last 8 years.

RG3 has two big problems, I don't think anyone has picked up on, first the offensive line has deteriorated since his first season. Arguably on of the worst in the league. Second he has a coach that is not good and doesn't like him.

Shanahan had a zone blocking scheme which worked pretty good in the first season. His second year he was hurt. Enter Gruden who needed to make an example of someone to show his authority like any rookie coach would do. Keep in mind RG3 didn't become a head case and a bad guy until Gruden came in deploying tough love.

RG3 is the easily the best QB on the team. Cousin has never played a good game when game planned against. His best games are when he came in after the starter was hurt. Colt McCoy... well is Colt McCoy. Gruden is possessed with doing things his way. He will be gone after this year and I don't think the upper management will pull the plug on RG3 until another QB is in place.

Side note Brian Orakpo is a beast he let walk for a 4 year 27 million dollar deal. For that money he would have looked real good in a Bills uniform.

I'm a Hughes fan but Orakpo is better and cheaper.

  6. So...better than Russell Wilson, and like Aaron Rodgers?

    Wow!

Interesting because everyone I know that is better than Russell Wilson and like Aaron are starters already and have won championships.

I have seen Tyrod play in college and in the pro's. I think the Bills should be looking for a first string starter and not some that can fit Thad Lewis' old uniform.

Tyrod is not that good. He would easily unseat Tuel though. Athletic but not that accurate.

  7. Not in my eyes. If people's argument is that OJ should be allowed to stay on the wall strictly because of his on field accomplishments, then Pete Rose should be allowed in the HOF. As a player, he was one of the most prolific baseball players of all time and he needs to be honored among the greats regardless. Remember...YOU guys said that a player should be honored STRICTLY for his ONFIELD performance. Right?

And having a murderer enshrined in the hall of fame isn't ruining the integrity of the sport? Might as well bronze his black gloves and hang those up to be honored too.

Pete Rose was gambling as a manager. You forget that managers and coaches have just as much influence on the outcome of a game. Pete isn't being punished as a player. As I said prior "a person should be judged by his accomplishments while in the game". That includes managers and coaches as well not just players. OJ was out of the game for years but Pete Rose was not, he was managing the Reds. Having players that committed crimes after retirement does not ruin the integrity of the game but having players , coaches , managers or officials on the take will kill your sport immediately.

  8. If Pete Rose isn't allowed to be honored in the HOF for gambling then why should we honor OJ when he murdered someone?

Because gambling can ruin the integrity of any sport.

From a sports sense the two are totally different when it comes to impact of the game.

A person should be judged by his accomplishments when they were in the game.

  9. My concern about Shanahan is historical. Although there are several examples of coaches who went from mediocre in their first HC job to winning a SB on their second, and a couple of examples of Super Bowl coaches taking a second team to the big dance, up to know not a single SB-winning coach has managed to win a Super Bowl with a different team. Playoffs, sure, and an SB appearance or two, but no victories. Do we really think that Mike Shanahan will buck that trend?

No!!! He is not as hungry as he was. We don't have Elway and Davis on the roster either. He is a .500 coach.

  10. I had a chance to witness the Shanny-Shanny and Haslett show with the Redskins and it sucked.

The lesson learned is never hire a coach that will not fire an assistant no matter how bad he is.

Kyle was awful but dad could not cut the ties. Be very careful what you ask for here. Of all of the

coaching options available, this is the worst one. We will not bring up the RG3 development issue.

You take away the two Superbowl seasons from Shanahan and he is just a .500 coach.

  11. Yea his draft picks are horrible. I see you convienantly ignore players thag don't fit your agenda.

    Let's see:

    Kiko Alonso

    Preston Brown

    Jerry Hughes

    Boobie Dixon

    Sentreal Henderson

    Sammy Watkins

    Robert Woods

All players Doug Whaley brought here. And he's added even more loads more of depth. But I'm not going to waste my time.

I'm not even sure why I'm responding to this thread.

Agreed, bottom line is we have the best football team we have had in a decade. Our personal is more talented than prior. Our defense is the best we have had in years. Even decisions to bring in Kyle Orton when he did allowed this team to be better than it would have been. I think we are much better off with a hungry GM on the rise than an established name that is no longer hungry but just trying to secure a career for his kids.

The biggest mistake he has made was hiring a .500 coach from Syracuse. An offensive expert who can't call plays or coach an offensive line worth a damn.

  12. Bradford or RG3 is your man barring injuries. Cousins has been given every chance to succeed and has played very poorly, why would we want to get him??? Cutler is not a winner, even going back to his Vandy days and without great coaching he will be the same. Marrone and Hackett are doing to much on the job training themselves to make him successful any time soon. Cutler has great weapons and still manages to lose.

  13. I agree he needs better protection. I'm not sure I agree that given it he will be fine, but that isn't my point in the above post. My point is that the benefit to sticking with him throughout the rest of this season is that you get to make a proper, informed, decision about the future. If the reality is that the decision is basically already made then I think it undermines the benefits somewhat.

Totally agree....Sounds like the EJ experiment.
