  1. Beane and Mc D were full of themselves after the start of the season. The decision to trade MD for nothing was bad because MD didn't buy in to the process.

When you have a pro bowler anchoring your line, you work with him for the sake of the team. Our defense has not been the same since he has left in fact it has been embarrassing.

Now it seems as though the Peterman experiment is over. I don't see us winning more than 1 or 2 more games.

  2. I believe your thoughts have merit. It's the first thing that came to my mind. When management keeps trading your best players especially in the middle of a good run you begin to feel as though you are being sabotaged by your own leadership. The "why should I care if they don't" attitude sets in. Whether you liked Dareus or not he was the star of that line. They will not make the playoffs this year because they depended on defense to keep them in games and that has been dismantled.

Just an idea or theory or talking out my A** but I got to wondering. Dareus was not someone that was going to be here down the road but if the players had all bought in to we're winning this year and going to the playoffs and then 7 games into the season your 5-2 and contending for the division and then all of a sudden your run stuffing DT is traded away, did that send a signal to the players that McDermott and Beane might not be as committed to winning this year as the players thought they were and so now they've said to hell with it and have given up on the coach and GM? I don't think Dareus is the reason we were 5-2 by a long shot but players are pretty tight with one another and if the staff was preaching love and brotherhood and team and all that sugar coated stuff and the players bought into it and then they just trade a guy out of the blue, showing that they aren't loved and a brotherhood but really just a commodity does that sour the players? I know they traded for Benjamin at about the same time but if the thoughts were already in their heads, the trade for Benjamin may not have had much impact on the players view. It happens in the private sector. You pour your heart and soul into a job and then your boss craps on you and your co-workers, and then you get a fancy new car to drive, you know the boss can crap again so your attitude changes in a hurry. Did that happen with the Bills?

  4. We have given away our number 1 & 2 receivers and our number 2 & 3 running backs. Three of four have showed very well so far. The only consolation is that we have the extra draft picks in the first three rounds. Which once drafted will take another 2-3 years to develop. I question Mc Bean's ability to evaluate talent and to make the right picks. So far very unimpressed. Not looking to find excuses for these guys but I don't think they have much of a plan. You don't have to take one step back to take two step forward, not when you inherit a .500 team.

  5.

Sammy's two catches for 30 yards today would have won the game? Or, it it Sammy's 5 catches for 58 yards last week that would have won the game for us? Jordan Matthews has out produced Sammy every year in the NFL and the two have very similar results this year. How would was today's game lost with the Sammy trade?

Sammy knows how to get open deep and has a good chemistry with TT. Don't get lost in bogus stats. The game came down to a last second catch. One good catch wins it.

  6. Again, I disagree. With all do respect, which throws did not allow our guys to make plays? The 10 yard outs we repeatedly ran? Again, if we see the film and he missed his downfield targets and reads, I will gladly say he played poorly. I am not by any means a TT fan, but I am tired of him being the scape goat.

He missed some throws, the 2nd and long deep bomb down the right sideline when he should have blown a TO was awful.

That being said, this offense has bigger problems than Tyrod Taylor IMO

I agree, the play calling was something I would expect from the Bengals. You saw a team that looked as though they have a rookie head coach and rookie offensive coordinator. This game was lost when Sammy Watkins was traded. We will have to get used to it.

  7. His drafts and cap mismanagement speak for themselves, but....

From Marrone to Rex to McDermott, I still find it baffling our GM in title couldn't have primary say in who our HC should have been.

    4 years, 3 coaches...smh

I agree. I think the main reason we didn't make the playoffs were due to coaching errors. Rex would give away 2 games a year. I don't blame Whaley for that.

We are a team that needed 2-3 more wins a season. I think the new regime is taking the long path to gaining those 2-3 more victories. I think they are going about things wrong. I hope I am wrong and they do deserve a chance.

  8. I thought the concessions were kind of weak actually. Not much variety at all. Nowhere near as good as Camden, right across the street.

I also don't like the angle of the upper decks. Seems like you'd be a lot further away than at the Ralph.

Other than that, it's very nice.

I agree with you, Oriole park is a better place maybe one of the best for concessions. I would rate Fed Ex field better than M&T as well.

  9. First off, they didn't trade away all their talent. They traded away 2 talented players, and got at least 1 talented player back, maybe 2 (time will tell with EJ Gaines).

And McDermott has only been here through 3 preseason games now. The penalty problem has been ongoing for years. It's not going to change overnight. Same with the culture. It may take getting rid of more players. There's only so much any coach can do. It's why a guy like Belichick, who is a hall of fame coach and one of the best ever, gets rid of talented players if they don't fit his scheme and culture. Some players will simply never change. A coach can't force them to if they're not willing.

Also, There were a LOT of tricky tack BS calls by the refs this preseason. It's been happening with every team, bit just the Bills. Let's see how it is in regular season. The refs may not bad with the flags.

It's not, like every penalty was a guy not giving a crap either. Some were just simple mistakes. It had nothing to do with not caring IMO.

I am blown away by how many seem to have turned on this new regime already, without ever even giving them a real chance. Did you truly think 17 years of losing and crappy culture was going to change by preseason game 3 of an entirely new regime top to bottom? The Bills have by far the longest playoff drought not just in football, in all of sports. That kind of thing doesn't just happen, not without years of ineptitude. It's not something that someone can come in, just snap their fingers say some magic words and fix.

You guys may not like it, but it's most likely going to take years before we know. Year 3 is when I expect to really start seeing the gains.

It's probably going to take dumping more of these players, bringing in new guys (through the draft and free agency) that fit this new culture and regime better.

And IMO they've tried their best to put players on the field that give a crap. Look at every single guy they've brought in - Tre White, Zay Jones, Dion Dawkins, even the later round picks like Vallejo, Milano and Peterman, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer, Jordan Matthews, EJ Gaines - all of them to a man have said how all they care about is doing what's best for the team and all of them are noted as guys who are great teammates and people who really seem to care. Read some of the stuff about Tre White and Jordan Matthews for ex. About how much their team, ages loved them and how much they were willing to do to help their teams. You can't expect them to replace the entire team in a single offseason...

Does the entire team need to be replaced? The Bills have been a middle of the pack team over the last couple years, isn't that a good starting point to build from? Why do we have to take steps back to move forward. I know it's only preseason but we are seeing the symptoms of a team with poor coaching and management that could not figure out a way to get 2 more victories from a team where Rex would give away 2 games a season due to poor coaching. Not only do the players need to get their act together but so does the coaching and management. Lets not take the time to figure it out totally at the fans expense.

  10. Can't say I have ever have been so non excited about the beginning if the Bills season.

I will still be watching and cheering them on but they make it hard.

So far this off season we have lost our number 1 & 2 wr's, our #1 & 2 cb's our #2 rb. Pats fans are right the team will not be better.

We have cherry picked leadership from an organization that has had only 2 winning seasons of the last 8.

It's great that we have multiple high draft picks next year but I don't know if these guys can draft talent.

If I am Pegula I go with it but I firmly instruct them that an 0-16, 1-15 leads to an automatic dismissal.

  11. @salsports

Sean McDermott has said numerous times earn the right to win. Looks like he's challenging Watkins to prove he can stay healthy and produce

...if that happens, Bills can still place franchise tag on Watkins (albeit at a higher cost) or workout extension. We'll see how 2017 goes

Who challenges McDermott? Can this guy win? I agree with your assessment on Sammy's health but it seems like the new regime wants their people.

  12. They should let him be a GM/Coach. I'm surprised any one wants to interview for a GM job in which hey have little to no control. I'm also perplexed the Bills are letting a rookie coach make so many decisions. He hasn't won a game as a HC yet he is in total control of the team.

Disturbing especially when you look at the fact that Carolina has had only 2 winning seasons in the last 8 years. I don't know if this guy can even be a HC let alone poaching anymore people from the Panthers. This sounds like Pegula is acting on phone conversations with his buddy Bill Polian.

  13. As a Bills fan I find it puzzling that the owner has given increased power and responsibility to a person that hasn't proven that he can even be a head coach in the league, wtf.

Note to Pegula, you hired Sean McDermott not Bill Parcells. Can't help but think that Bill Polian is in his ear.

Let think about it, Marrone was the choice of Nix, Ryan dazzled the Pegula's. Whaley was never able to get his guy in there. Never given the responsibility of a true GM.

  14. Let's not forget it the defenses job to protect a 15 point lead.

I noticed in the red zone especially inside of the 10 when most teams defense will try to hurry the opposing QB who is already playing on a short field,

we were dropping in to 3 man coverages giving the QB unlimited time to throw.

The schemes are very questionable. Our offense prior to the half showed that we aren't as interested in winning as the Raiders were.

This seemed like another example of bad coaching. I would love for the Bills to go 10-6 but if we don't I'm hoping anything less gets Rex out of there.

  15. Wrecks has officially turn this team into the 2014 Jets.

He basically tried to fix something that wasn't broken...our #4 rated defense.

I was at today's game today knowing all we had to do was to play the same game plan as we did Brady in the 2nd Pats game.

Not only would we win but we would force Cousins into 2 or 3 turnovers like everyone else does.

We make mediocre QB's look great. Not sure what it takes to remove Wrecks from the job but today was a total embarrassment.

He has lost the defense. If he stays for another year we are assured a 4-12 team if we are lucky.

  16. Okay okay.....maybe I was going a bit overboard....

I'm just really disappointed that he's stuck by EJ for so long and is almost trying to force things to work out with him - almost like fitting a square into a round hole. And he cut Fred Jackson and traded Cassell - you all know this....The moves just didn't make sense as a whole and my gut feeling was that his ego has been hurting the team (and the fans) lately....I mean we could have drafted David Carr or Bridgewater in the past drafts if he had recognized early on that EJ was just not cut out to be a NFL QB...I could go on and on, but hopefully you see where I am coming from.

I really liked Fred Jackson but how many years does he have left?

Cassell????? I'm sure you realize Cassell has forged a career from an average season with the Patriots.

As far as who we could have drafted in the past...Russell Wilson is about the one that I think about.

Your hindsight is like everyone else. Tell us who we can draft next year to right the ship.

I am in agreement with most of the board. Coaching is the problem this year specifically Rex and Thurman.

I will give them the benefit of the doubt but as of now they are under achieving and changes should be made somewhere in the chain at the end of the season if things don't improve.

  17. Bottom line if what Rex/Thurman was doing was creating pressure on the QB and getting turnovers and sacks then no one would be complaining. But when your only rushing 3 guys and QB are seeing No pressure and have all day to throw and we're getting lit up on defense then guys are going to speak out.

Players are getting heat from the press. Players hate looking overpaid and overrated.

Good point. I would like to think Rex and Co. would recognize when something is not working quicker than 5 games into the season. Playing coverage always gives the QB more time to throw. Even rookie qb's will kill us if we maintain that philosophy. Even Brady and Manning will throw picks if they are getting hit. Lets go back to the 4 and 5 man attack and for crying out loud lets play up on the receiver to leverage ourself on the quick throws. Rex is coaching scared playing it too safe.
