Bills did nothing but sign mediocre free agents,  other than the center there was really nothing to get excited about.  You win games in this league because of match ups and having guys who can make huge plays.  I don't see any of that and their draft was not much better other than first round pick, i thought with our record we really need to sign 2-3 big time players.  The DE Murphy who Beane signed last season is a classic example of the types of players Beane is bringing to Buffalo.  Guys who come here because they don't have many other options.

I totally agree. Beane has not demonstrated he can close the deal on any type of player beyond mediocre without over paying.

I am a Murphy fan and I believe he can get you 8-10 sacks when healthy. With that being said I will still be excited as I am always at the beginning of the season. Waiting to see the rookies.

I'd rather grab Oliver at nine and trade up from 40 into the back end of the first to get Dillard.

Totally agree. With all of the emphasis on offense we had in had free agency and rightly so, people tend to forget how mediocre our defense was even though we had good stats.

We were picked apart by Tannehill and Darnold. With Kyle gone we need to firm up the line and need more on the edge. We can't totally ignore these areas. I could be very happy with Dillard if it means getting Oliver as well.

There is absolutely no chance any GM of the Buffalo Bills can compete with other teams without overpaying. Until the culture turns and Buffalo is a perennial winning franchise, no one will want to come here without being overpaid.

Interesting enough during the drought each of our GM's were able to make the big deal.

McCoy, Mario Williams, Spikes, Fletcher to name a few. I'm not making excuses for Beane

but if he can take credit for the 9-7 team that made the playoffs then he should be accountable for 6-10 team that he has created.

I hope Josh Allen pans out to be great I like what I see but I can't forget how unprepared the Bills were for the beginning of last season at RB, QB and WR.

How anyone could be against getting one of the best RBs in the league with the best receiving skills is beyond me?  We have the money.  We have the need for real play makers.  He is not a malcontent, he just wanted to protect his worth.  Nothing wrong with that.  I would be stoked to get him.  Especially if we can get 1 or 2 more starting lineman through FA/draft.

Don't think this will happen. I have seen Bell's linked to the Colts during the season which may not amount to much.

Not impressed by the Gore signing especially on the first day of FA

Beane still has to prove that can compete with other teams in making the big deal without over paying and creating new holes to fill.

  5. Getting a 3rd for Tyrod was decent but not great because it created a void that Beane was slow to fill.

Beane was beaten to the punch in getting a comparable back up.

Had to take the last QB standing, McCarron who was eventually cut. Very slow to release Nate Peterman.

Beane seems to be willing to make an impact but has not made any good deals for any players yet other than draft picks yet.

The Bills Nix/Whaley built were loaded with talent. I don't care what anyone says. They hired the wrong coach in 2015.

Agreed. Our playoff slump would have ended a year earlier if not for Rex.

Beane has not done anything yet. He should Thank Whaley's talent assessments and McD's coaching for ending the drought.

I am hopeful for the upcoming season but my concern is can Beane build a team.

He has never done that before. My vote goes to Butler.

    Agreed.

He can run 10 times a game now, but in 2 years that number should be around 5 times a game. He needs to reduce the number of times he gets hit if he's going to stay healthy.

I would love to see him check down a little more.

I would like for the coordinators to design screens for him and incorporate more crossing patterns.

Once that happens we will put a lot more points on the board.

  8. I'm amazed at the people that are tearing down Taylor trying to lump him with Peterman.

If they were both released which one would be picked up first?

If you can defend McD and Beane by saying they ended the playoff drought,

you can say the same for Tyrod.

I would get ticked watching Tyrod at times but as the saying goes..you don't know what you got until you lose it.

I think we need a poll to determine whether Beane is responsible for drafting Zay Jones.

Zay was a Whaley pick based on Whaley scouting. I don't hold Beane accountable until after last years draft.

Beane has showed that he can get rid of talent but he hasn't demonstrated that he can research and make good picks bring in quality FA's and  build anything.

Making the playoffs last year was based on talent acquired during Whaley's tenure. McD is a better coach than Rex and could utilize the talent better.

Zay Jones has become the best receiver on the field. The Bills have become an offensive embarrassment.

  10. Last year I felt as though the present regime road the coat tales of the prior regimes talent, which they did.

I wanted to see how they would do this year because it is fully McBeane's team now.

I not impressed with Beane's handling of the draft and talent evaluation.

Trading Dareus in the middle of the season was disruptive.

    Neglecting the O-line.

Neglecting the QB situation. Needed experienced depth, maybe keep Tyrod.

Wasting badly draft picks to move up and creating holes to do so.

    FA Failures.

I would love to see Whaley's talent evaluation with McD coaching because that's what we saw last year.

  11. We have taken a step back in talent evaluation. The result will be 3-13 seasons. We are moving in the wrong direction.

The QB position is to hard to successfully draft and all of the QB's that were drafted last year seem to have issues regarding consistency that you would expect from a rookie. Allen is the only one that doesn't have a support system and that is poor management. Mayfield is the best and clearly has the best understanding of the game. Allen and Rosen are bringing up the rear in this horse race.

All of the QB's are being mentored by QB's that are proven solid QB's except for Allen. Our GM forgot about this aspect of QB development. Allen may not develop until our GM and coach does. Allen is a 3 year project if given an improving O-Line.

  12. I like Josh Allen but he is a QB that will need 3 years to develop. The front office was negligent and showed their inexperience in not having quality depth at QB.

A QB needs to be attained via FA and the draft. McBeane will need to  gain draft picks to address the holes they created in the prior season. Teddy Bridgewater and a 3rd or 4th round QB can work. Our first round pick should be a highly desirable pick and should generate 1 or 2 additional picks. Unless there is a stud in the first that we can't say no to, start building the offense period. Lets get the T and G. Receivers that can compliment each other 2 solid possession guys and burner that can stretch the field (kind of like Woods, Watkins and Goodwin). Don't leave out a RB.

I think there will be more than one opportunity to move down but do they have the scouting that will allow late round success?
