Yet he gave up MORE to trade up for a “generational” WR who was anything but, with no QB on the roster.  Doug’s trade for Sammy was worse than the Allen deal and that’s assuming he’ll bust

No one is saying Whaley was great, He was  on par with Donohoe, Levy, and Nix. None of which was great but at least I can open my eyes enough to see that we really overpaid Allen. Trading away picks when you don't need to is not a strategy for success but you make it seem as though the Sammy Watkins deal by Whaley is the reason we lost four Superbowls or drafted Tom Cousineau or AC Cowlings. Whaley obviously bugs you...get over it dude.

Min perhaps you’ve never heard of Sammy Watkins.  What Whaley gave up is far worse.

I’m not saying he wasn’t good at evaluating talent but his draft selections are underwhelming and that is a fact!!!

This is on par with Watkins probably worse because we sold the farm for QB project who's biggest asset is the ability to play in the cold.

Never have we gone into a draft with so much ammunition and come out with so little. Whaley didn't waste picks like Beane has so far.

  3. Of course the Bills paid to much especially when the 3-4 picks prior to taking Allen did not need a quarterback. A very wasteful 1st round. Never did we go into a draft with so much ammo and come out with so little. Don't want to hear anyone talk about Whaley and Sammy Watkins again. A very expensive 1st round and it didn't have to be. I felt this was a chance for Beane to show his stuff because we needed the picks to fill so many holes. A blown opportunity.

  4. I'm a realist.

We know he was in talks with the Colts but the Jets were able to pull the deal off.

Maybe he didn't want to give up the farm. Realizing he may get what he wants if he stays put.

We won't know until the draft but we are not in a bad situation as long as he drafts good people.

We have the picks if done correctly we can build a powerhouse.

  5. The Bills may trade up but from this point I think they wait until draft day and see if the QB they want is still there maybe before Indy picks at number 6. I would think Indy would have no problem moving down to 12 with another extra pick. I personally think Darnold and Allen are the bust and they may be the top QB's taken. Rosen, Mayfield and Jackson are the best chances for success and one or two may still be there. I like Lauletta in the later rounds.  I might just stay put at 12 and keep all of the picks.

  6. Whether a QB is going to be a hit or a miss can be a crap shoot and maybe a lot of it depends on how a team can develop him and utilize his strong points.

The real mystery of Beane is that he is in a role that he has not occupied prior. We aren't sure of his scouting and drafting abilities. Draft's are always hit or miss. With the amount of picks he has I expect him to hit on a few of them. He was not involved in the process that much last year...he was hired too late. It will be fun to see.

He did.  AJM had a 53 and TT had a 50.

And value is a relative thing.  You've heard the saying "one man's trash..."?  All it takes is one man/team to think a player is worth something.  The hard part is living up to the contract.

Do you really think AJM ever had a chance to compete fairly against AD?

Trust me if he had played better he would have gotten the job. AD has been taking heat the last few years.

The best thing about AJ so far is that Belichick was interested.

He does have an upside lets see how much.

  8. I think to a certain degree McBean may have out smarted themselves.

I know they have targeted other QB's but they are losing out. Going to be hard to convinced strong free agents to sign without a QB.

They are great at recruiting former Carolina Panthers but who else?

Last years early FA and draft were Whaley's. I want to see what McBean can actually do.

Letting Dareus go for nothing was not very good.

I understand trading Tyrod but Not to bring in Matt Moore. Why is Peterman still on the team?

Good at accumulating draft picks but thats the first part of the process, now they must draft.

    I'm am far from convinced.

Tyrod Taylor was our QB.  I say again... Tyrod Taylor.  We just want a real QB.

It's about wins and losses. I have seasons tickets to Redskins game and the Redskins fans feel the same way about Cousins as we feel about TT.

The grass always looks better on the other side of the street. Cousins is not the answer. We will have to draft and groom a QB the old fashion way.

Panthers and Bengals games were definitely winnable with better QB play. Arguably the first Patriots game as well. And the playoff game. With zero other changes to the roster Cousins brings us from wildcard contender to AFC Championship contender. With a few smart changes we'd be a Super Bowl contender. If we have any kind of shot at him we need to pay whatever it takes.

How many NFC Championships have Cousins taken the Redskins to again. So why would be come a contender with him???

  11. The Cousins love on this board tells me many have not really watched him play. Alex Smith is more

valuable because he protects the football, Cousins doesn't. He can deliver in the red zone, Cousins can not.

I don't want a QB that will throw for 4000 yards and only win 6 or 7 games at best. I'd rather keep TT and draft the future.

The Redskins will be a better team with Smith.

I was down on Whaley toward the end but I'm starting to think the guy got kind of a raw deal. Granted, he sucked at QB evaluation and made questionable decisions wrt trading up, but it seems he was good at finding position players that worked in the scheme he was scouting for.

I never gave him a pass on having coaches thrust upon him because a GM should be accountable for coaching decisions, but with the benefit of hindsight it appears he was a GM in name only and was really just the head of player personnel.

I'm not saying we should have kept him, but I think he's better than I and many others gave him credit for.

He did get a raw deal. He made a few errors but we had more talent on the team than Donohoe or Nix could assemble. A GM should have the power of picking his own coach. Whaley was never given that opportunity. I wonder how Beane's responsibilities will break down. My big concern heading into the off season is will Beane be able to evaluate talent as well as Whaley...I have my doubts.

  13. I'm not sure what Gaine's or Brandon Beane's accomplishments are with the Bills that's what I wanted to see during the off season.

All I have seen him do was remove many of Whaley's recruits which I still question. They haven't put a draft together for the Bills yet.

Best of luck to Gaine but I would think he would have to prove himself somewhat before the promotion unless he has friends in the Texans organization.

    I would take Dareus back.

I think that a lot of the negative stuff about him being some kind of problem on the team was a narrative some were pushing to justify getting rid of him and the minimal return.

By all reports, his teammates loved him and he loved playing in Buffalo and embraced the city and the people.  He was about to get some community service award when he was traded. Ironically, Dareus played successfully for the guy who I heard use the term "process" in the football context for the first time.  That guy won another national championship yesterday.

    Just my two cents.

Bingo, if he wasn't motivated or a team problem he would not have been liked so well in the locker room. Management wanted to win a #issing match, created negative verbage and got nothing in return.

Sometimes you have to read between the lines.

I live in the DC area.  Most fans want Cousins, but think he'll be gone because the Front Office is incompetent.

Personally, I'd take Cousins and use the draft picks to build the roster.  Buffalo may even be an attractive landing spot.  The team made the playoffs and has a lot of draft picks.

Interesting, I have season's tickets to the Skin's games and the consensus at the games is that the Skin's are not going anywhere until Cousins is gone.

Kirk has trouble in the red zone and can not beat Dallas. Not very good in the 2 minute drill however he will make a great pass every now and then.

Kirk can throw for over 300 yards in a game which something the Bills have not seen in a while.

I would draft a QB and build the roster providing Beane can evaluate talent.

Do you honestly think that Kirk is worth the money he is looking for?

Cousins for 5 years at $130,000,000. $100M guaranteed. Then go OL, LB, DT, DE, RB. Super Bowl by 2019.

    Not with Cousins as QB.

    1. We've not keeping TT in any capacity.

    2. The Browns & Giants will be drafting the LA guys

    3. We're not beating Mia twice

    4. We either make a play for Cousins if available or pray a Mayfield/Rudolph fall to us.

Mayfield will fall to us which is good because he is the best of the bunch. He just doesn't have the size ala Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott. If he was 6'4" he would go #1.

What's all the love for Cousins? He's sitting at 5-7 this morning and out of the playoffs already...again.  Is he really a huge upgrade over TT? I'm not so sure.

Draft a QB and an Offensive Lineman or two.

I don't understand the love either as a Redskin season ticket holder we look at Cousins as a QB who is very poor when in the red zone or toward the end of games. He will lose 2-3 games a year on stupidity yet he will make some good throws now and then. It's funny to see the Bills fans foaming at the mouth for a chance to sign Kirk. If you saw the Dallas game last night you saw typical Kirk...I'll pass on him.
