  1. As long as you aren't a fan of a Boston pro sports team you are entitled to your opinion. The Buffalo/Boston pro sports rivalry is too geographically personal for it to be acceptable to cross over.
  2. To me........someone trading a second round pick for Edmunds seems absurd. But Cleveland traded a top of 3rd round pick to Buffalo for Tyrod Taylor.........so I suppose it's unfair to dismiss it out of hand. Just seems highly unlikely. Edmunds with that big, fully guaranteed cap hit and no team control left seems not-too-valuable, IMO..........some teams might consider it doing the Bills a favor taking that hit off the Bills hands. Especially in a draft deep in off-ball LB's. I would hate for the Bills to draft another off-ball LB in round 1............expending a 1st and a 2nd on Edmunds hasn't yielded the desired result........so not sure why they would feel compelled to do it again.
  3. I think he will be there at 25. It only takes one team but I think fans get new player mania in the months leading up to the draft........while teams in many cases have had set opinions about certain players for years. Scouts don't start learning about these players the season before they are drafted.............they are aware of many of them when they are still in HS in many cases. Doug Whaley drafted Cyrus Kouandjio because he was enthralled with CK having been the top OL in his HS class.........scouts start accumulating favorites way before the last legs of the draft process. For a lot of scouts Watson will be seen as a raw, untested and slightly over-aged player............so I don't see him jumping many of the other more established WR prospects and going top 25. I think we saw that with Spencer Brown last year..........some people were mocking him as high as round 1..........he cruised until end of round 3. I don't think Watson will fall out of round 2 because of the WR frenzy we have seen this offseason but he is probably no more than a fringe late first in the scouting community, IMO.
  4. 2-1 Cold night with the ball not carrying well = no HR's = no win The recent iterations of Yankee teams are not built to win by putting runners on base..........they do not make enough contact, hit for enough average and most importantly they simply can't RUN THE BASES well enough to scratch out runs. The organization is addressing that though...........follow the link to the nightly stats in the OP and keep an eye on the stolen base totals daily. They are greatly emphasizing base running and being extremely aggressive on the paths in the minors. Very common to see players with multiple steals in games........something that is RARE in the majors. And they are taking guys who rarely stole as amateurs and putting up big stolen base numbers.
  5. If you use a second round pick on a player I think it should be a GIVEN that you will want to re-sign the guy if he plays well. I wonder what % of people that want to draft a RB are thinking that player will be worthy of a big second contract? I suspect it's low.......nobody wants to pay RB's anymore. A second round pick is still one of your best shots to find an organizational difference maker.........the vast majority of pro bowlers come from rounds 1 and 2. So a second rounder shouldn't be used on players that you plan from the get-go to use up and throw away........which basically describes all but the most unique RB's.
  6. McShay definitely seems like the angriest of all media draftniks.........like the only angry one really........he's always seemed pissed or put out about something when I've seen him on TV. I remember one year he mocked a QB from Kentucky in the top 10 late in the process and the guy went undrafted or something really bizarre like that and I've never really put any stock into his takes since. Edit...... Tried to look it up but I can't remember the QB's name and all the negative search words for McShay always yield stuff that was posted yesterday so wasn't an easy find. Edit......QB's name was Andre Woodson.......he talked him up as a potential #1 overall pick all during the 2007 season and he ended up going in the 6th round and was quickly out of the league. He has no league connections so he is really flying blind with his evaluations wrt where players will be selected.
  7. Yes this is true........we actually HAD to do that for the playoff games in 2020 as I recall......there was no other choice. Wallet app works fine I just used it for a last minute decision to attend an MLB game as they didn't even have a physical ticket office at that stadium........this is the way it's going. But I much prefer the card. Let's say you accidentally had your flashlight on all day or super cold weather drained your battery and you walked up to the gate with a dead phone? I put my card in my wallet and it never leaves all season.
  8. The Yankees have a minor leaguer whose card sold for almost $500K recently. Josh Allen is one of the greatest players in the more popular sport and his card only sold for only $300K? Meh. Card market is totally illogical.
  9. Part of the process of a good drafting team should be knowing that their 1st round pick is one of the few chances they are going to get to find game breakers and foundational pieces. A high ceiling should be a MUST. You have to look at it like it's a $20M+ aav type investment. It would be easy to get caught up in the moment.......ponder the uncertainty with the highest ceiling prospects........and just pick the low hanging fruit........like a CB with a seemingly high floor who could possibly step right in and play some CB2. But then 4 years down the line if that player plays well will you feel very compelled to pay the man top dollar to play in your zone defense? If not.......it's the wrong pick.
  10. Josh Allen + good OL + healthy receiving/TE corps + Singletary/Moss/Johnson = highest scoring Bills offense ever It's not the ordinary RB corps that is the weak link in that equation............it's the quality and depth of the OL and the need for more depth/speed in the WR corps. Every offseason the same % of TSW characters spend the offseason pounding the keyboard for a first round RB until their fingers bleed. But it's not a plan that really makes any sense whatsoever based on DECADES of data. In fairness though.........there are still usually a handful of GM's like Dave Gettlenutz that also still think they are playing 20th century football so it's hard to totally blame fans for being thickheaded about it. Moss is a fine RB2/RB3........not as reliably productive of a runner as Singletary......but is a very good pass protector and sneaky effective as a receiver.
  11. Yeah but what about Leodis McKelvin and Nate Clements and Antoine Winfield and Jeff Burris and Thomas Smith and JD Williams and Derrick Burroughs...........McDermott is SO "draft a CB in round 1".
  12. At the combine........the on-field drills Williams vs. Woolens was no contest. Williams had natural CB movement.........Woolen did not. That's not to say that good coaching couldn't significantly change that but after he blazed that 40.........Woolens looked very unnatural.
  13. Evidence that Diggs wanted his deal re-done prior to the end of his Vikings deal? The fact that it got re-done prior to the end of his Vikings deal is sufficient proof for this civil proceeding, your honor. Take the L.
  14. 1. Allen 2. deGrom 3. Cole 4. Judge 5. Scherzer 6. Stanton 7. Durant 8. Diggs 9. Von Miller 10. Irving NHL is a very regional interest only in US and a minor league revenue sport compared to the other 3 so I wouldn't put any hockey players on the list. Durant and Irving are of probably the two best athletes on the list but their antics and the generally not-fan-friendly, play when we feel like nature of the NBA hurts them in a fan poll, IMO.
  15. I can't recall seeing anyone with the old card-stock ticket-shaped tickets in recent years. Paper printouts......like boarding passes printed off your home printer........I have seen. Otherwise it's cards and E. The cards are great and a good enough collectible, IMO. Electronic only I wouldn't recommend..........seen people have issues with phones going into games. Card is the way to go and you can use your card for playoff games as well.
  16. 1) So let's get this straight........in your mind Beane extending Stefon Diggs contract with 2 years still remaining on the original deal is in some way proof that I was wrong about Diggs camp hoping to get his deal re-done prior to now? IMO that is a completely pointless......fact-free attempt to look factual argument..........simply made by you for the sake of arguing. FACT: his deal being extended with multiple years remaining on it is proof that Diggs clamored for a new contract prior to the end of his prior one. I think it's naive to believe the thought just crossed his mind last week..........but you think what you want. 2) I think this is the top of the market for the next few years because there has been an over-reaction by teams to the value of a top WR. It's certainly not just the quality of the receivers available. I've heard mulitiple NFL observers say that the games on divisional weekend between Buffalo/KC and LAR/Bucs..........where 4 strong defense's looked helpless against elite passing games..........especially at the ends of those games...........frightened a lot of teams into thinking they simply can't compete with these elite QB'd teams unless they are absolutely dynamic thru the air. As a result teams that are desperate for a big season......to save jobs or prop up young QB's or get out from under the domination of a division rival.......are paying thru the nose for UFA WR's.........despite what I think is actually an increasingly supply heavy situation at WR around the league. And that supply will only deepen in a few weeks when another top-10 all-time kinda' WR deep group enters the league.........the 3rd straight such draft. As the supply gets closer to the demand...........contracts will level off.........it's the law of the market. 3) Example:.......5 years ago CB1's were getting bigger deals than WR1's.........CB1 market has leveled off. 4) The structure of the contract may well leave them with only 1 or 2 years of bad dead money. But as I stated in point 2...........supply is increasing at the WR position and Diggs original deal was going to end with him in his 30's..........it would have been safer to see what he looks like AFTER this coming season(going into age 30 year) and then work from a market that I expect will be leveled off. I mean most of his yards-per metrics have declined substantially from not just last year but 2019 as well. And did he or did he not just put up a 3 catch 6 yard game in the playoffs in Kansas City? Why was NOW the better time to make him the second highest guaranteed dollar WR in the league with 2 years left on a deal?
  17. .......then what? If it's just a job to you...........and you are resting on the sideline when the opposing offense is on the field........and you don't have to watch tape or gameplan against those players.........it isn't a given that you are going to know or care to know who those opposing players are. Some people can't grasp that not all players are fans............some of them even hate their job...........just like a lot of clock punching fans who spend their work day secretly logged on to TSW do.
  18. It's a new NHL record! https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/33690130/buffalo-sabres-eliminated-nhl-playoff-contention-record-11th-straight-season
  19. It's easy to get ratioed on a fanatic site where even a measured take of neutrality is considered an affront. What makes this one so impressive is that the OP posted a pro-fanatic optimistic take. And they still hate it quite passionately.
  20. Terrible game to Oilers fans. Thinking that is a "greatest game ever" type is like calling the Music City Miracle a "greatest game ever". The Bills/Chiefs game was a real back and forth battle.........not a tale of two halves like the comeback game or a weird game of futility with one big play at the end like that MCM game(Bills held Steve McNair to like 60 yards passing.......Bills offense and special teams were bad all day).
  21. They've had success with later picks at CB as well........Taron Johnson (4th) Dane Jackson (6th) and Levi Wallace (UDFA). People downplay the significance of that.........but it's not like they've used a lot of picks.........the hit rate has been extraordinary..........which either reflects unbelievable evaluating talent or just maybe that the system and coaching makes the player in their secondary.
  22. Nice to see Injurino survive his first start since 2019.........says he feels good. Stanton and Rizzo off to great starts. The team will only go as far as the HR's and Blake's bullpen takes them. Their system has been loaded with right handed arms for a few years.......the young starters haven't really materialized.......but they have 6-10 very good arms that are ready to contribute and they can shuttle back and forth to Scranton to keep the pen fresh. Only downside with that pen depth is that they can only shuttle a guy 5x this season under new CBA. IKF looking real shaky at SS though.........he has 2 errors now and also bobbled a DP ball yesterday that nearly cost them..........this after he had 19 errors there last year......same as the unplayable Gleyber Tortoise. With his shaky bat IKF future may be back at catcher if he ain't pickin' it at SS. Switch hitting SS Oswaldo Cabrera could be up soon if IKF can't get his glove workin right. He doesn't have much hittability but can field and run and has real good pop from left side.
  23. 1) Well.......yes there is.....https://www.ourlads.com/nfldepthcharts/depthchart/BUF 6 boundary CB's under contract 2) I think you were alluding to the word "elude" 3) Tre is a question mark compared to what? He's an All Pro who is going to be 10 months post surgery at the beginning of the season. Should he take the season off or no?
  24. Yep. But you generally gotta' have it all to be prioritized as a 1st round CB. There were some who were down on the Tre White pick because he was just 4.47-4.55 40 guy. And that DOES show up sometimes against very fast receivers who have made him look slow. Hill burned him alive in the AFCCG. But in zone defense the other traits tend to be called upon so much more so most times he is put in position to look great and rarely disappoints. If you don't need the whole package you can usually find the most important traits you need all over the draft.........whether that be just pure speed/quickness to play man or more zone traits etc.. Example.......the best route matcher in Bills history was probably Jabari Greer.........an undrafted free agent.
  25. Beerball has a thread for Mess fans. With all the money Steven A. spent the past two offseasons.........if they Mets this season up like they spectMetsily did last year.......it will be another Metsic failure. But I'm not rooting for that..........hopefully the Mess do well and it puts some pressure on shallow pockets Hal to stop dickin around with the luxury tax thresholds and just do what's best for the team on the field. They make 10x+ the profit of the average MLB team it's distasteful to get near the thresh and start trying to money-ball their way into wild card contention in a league with no cap. On the plus side.........the farm system is very good and love the coaching/instruction they are giving players.......Matt Blake has been a life saver as pitching coach..........hopefully in a couple years they won't need to spend so much of Hal's precious cash and can start winning the AL East once in a while.
