  1. I made the wildcat reference earlier in the thread. That's what he did as a QB.

I think Smith was a decent 3rd-4th WR, an asset on special teams, and seemed to be a good veteran presence. He might be worth a roster spot based on the specific competition and salary pressure. This year I preferred the young guys over him.

All that said, there's no way he should be our starting QB from what I've seen. I'd much rather play Thad. I'd even rather give Tuel another shot if Thad goes down. I think Smith only qualifies as an emergency QB for a part of a game.

Totally agreed on 100% of your points.

  2. Living here in Banjo land, I get to listen to sports talk every morning about teams I could care less about in all honesty, but it's better than nothing, so I tune in, really just to see what other sports radio shows sound like, compared to ours. So, short story long, the big topic as of late is how Chris Johnson has been struggling, and not able to break runs on the inside this year, and guess whose name came up in conversation? nope.... guess again... yes, they were talking about Andy Levitre, and they were not raving about the guy in any way. In fact, they feel like they may have overpaid for what is being perceived as middling talent. They were concerned about his run blocking mostly, and other names along the offensive line as well, it wasn't a Levitre bash fest, but I was surprised to hear that he wasn't the second coming of Jesus Christ in guard form. From all the comments around here, you's think we let the "all mighty" walk(on water to tennessee at that), and bashed the front office for doing so.

Maybe.... Juuuuuust maybe.... our front office was very smart in not over paying for a guard, even if we didn't have a better alternative to replace him. sometimes you have to let a guy walk, especially one who isn't blowing it up on his new team.

Take this for what it's worth, just thought it would be nice to show a different side to what was perceived as a mistake in not keeping a guy.

Great post. In my opinion, our FO made the perfect non-move. You don't pay a "good" guard that kind of money. No team's success is made or broken by the play of an OG.

  3.

And then follow that up w/domestic battery awareness. ;-P

Wow... Sorry for the situation in your family. Our prayers go out to your family Gug! My mother lost her battle to ovarian in 1999 after a 6 year fight. Huntington's is in my ex-sister-in-law's family. The thing with that is that it a recessive gene disorder... So they can test for that before mid-life. I don't even broach the subject w/my brother about my niece! I am pretty sure his ex-has it, that leaves my niece @ a 50% chance? ?? Ovarian is very hereditary... Both my sisters know the history and what's @ stake. A voluntary ovectomy might be the answer for some.

    Again... All our prayers!

Thank you. It's a real kick in the nuts. In short, money being raised for any widespread killer is a positive thing. And I'm willing to put up with the 9 seconds of confusion if it helps save someone's life.

  4. You need to relax you are way over reacting or mis reading my intent.

The NFL should focus on men's health issues since more than 75% of their audience is men, and men are more reluctant or ignorant on prostate health then women on breast health, they should also promote prostate cancer awareness.

It wasn't a competition but an observation.

Prostate cancer awareness gets very little attention. Everyone know about breast cancer and the pink ribbons.

I'm not being insensitive because I've had breast cancer in my family on loved ones.

I understand and I apologize for jumping to conclusions. This is a heavy topic.

However, although breast cancer awareness is far greater than that of prostate cancer awareness, the statistics speak loudly and clearly that breast cancer is, by far, the greater threat.

Believe me. I wish there could be more focus on Crohn's Disease and Huntington's Disease (two killers that are affecting my sister and cousin, respectively) as well as ovarian cancer, which is currently killing my aunt (the mother of the cousin with Huntington's Disease).

My point is simply this ... I'm sure the NFL didn't want to choose just one disease, but they likely had to. I honestly don't know. But breast cancer, while more curable today than ever, is still killing people in droves. The thirds highest death rate (Lung and Colon are 1 and 2).

I'm just happy that there are ways for a business as big as the NFL to help gain awareness and money toward research for a cure for at least one disease.

Again ... I apologize for saying you were insensitive.

  5.

Go ahead and laugh but supporting prostate cancer awareness would make so much more sense. The NFL audience is mostly male and prostate cancer kills more men than breast cancer does women.

It boggles my mind that people view this as a competition. Seriously? Cancer spreads. The insensitivity and ignorance of some people in this so called civilized society we live in makes me sick.

Sorry it's an inconvenience for you people while others are losing their loved ones and hoping there is a cure someday.

Karma is a real mother !@#$er.

  6. Eh, i will.

He'll likely have over 10,000 passing yards in his first three seasons. I don't think he's the reason the Panthers haven't been winners. I respect your opinion, but this kid has been nothing short of great since entering the league.

  7. More bikers than not ( harleys and crotch rockets) act like douchehags on the road

I ride a bike (a cruiser, not a crotch rocket) and I have friends who ride, as well. None of us are douchebags. Ever.

I just started riding this year and I have never had the opinion that "more bikers than not" are douches. Sure ... are plenty of them. Just like there are plenty of automobile drivers who are.

I've been tailgated whilst going 65 MPH on a 55 MPH country road. I've been harassed, then tailgated, because I took too long to take a left at a light with heavy oncoming traffic (route 9, Lake George, summertime). I've been cut off a minimum of 10 times this year by drivers who either didn't see me or didn't care.

I do believe there are a lot of jerk bikers out there. I do not, for one second, believe that it's "the majority."

We have 2 wheels and no protection other than leather and a helmet. We don't get fender benders when we crash. We usually die. Believe me ... most of us are concerned with keeping ourselves safe.

As far as this incident with the Range Rover, I am 100% on his side and I would have run the punk over, too.
