  1. I don't understand all the doubt on EJ's abilities. The guy has literally just started his career in the NFL. I know it's been 13 years since the team has made the playoffs... we all know, but come on... let the kid play a little before we discredit him as the best option at QB.

    This ... will never happen.

You're talking about a fan base who wanted Hackett fired .... AFTER THE PATRIOTS GAME.

  2. I found that out many a time realizing why I did not have a hangover the next morning. I was still buzzed.

That was always my challenge. I get up early regardless of how late my debauch was the night before. And a nap in the afternoon? Never.

Same here. If I stop drinking by 1am, I usually avoid a hangover. That's only if I stick solely to beer; which is the norm. But if I'm up that late drinking, it's not at home - plus it's very rare. Now that I'm back with the band, the days after gig nights will be rough if I don't drink in moderation.

  3. Based on the tape of what he did against a better defense than EJ has played against , I like Thad's willingness to stand in the pocket and go through all of his progressions.. he never locked on to one Wide out the whole time and he spreads the ball around.. he can do everything EJ can do right now. Taking nothing away EJ at all I just think we'll be alright with Thad

Certainly, you can understand that basing your prediction on one game might be met with some resistance.

I'm actually curious to see how big of a drop off in talent we'll see on Sunday. I am confident that EJ is the man, and will be the man, at QB for the Bills for a long time.

But as of today .. he's got 4 games under his belt. Three more than Thad.

What Thad doesn't have is an entire offseason, preseason and those four starts that EJ had to gel with his teammates.

I'm hoping that Thad has developed a somewhat solid rapport with guys like Woods and Easley (we need this kid on the field). I have high hopes for Thad this weekend. I have confidence in him.

But I do not think, for one minute, that he is a long-term upgrade over EJ Manuel.

    Go Bills!!

  4. Dibs won this thread. Nice work and research. Apperciate it very much.

We have to be the only fan board that has massive threads on LGs and punters.

In fairness, we're fans of the only franchise that would have a press conference to introduce Vince Young (let alone sign him).

  5. I have a big problem with this.

I have a smart phone and the app but I generally keep my data turned off because I don't need it. Even when on I discontinue background data to control the data and manage my battery.

This means I will not get breaking info.

I'll call you every time something happens.

  6. Non-soccer fan, here. Question: So this seems similar to when football teams have already clinched a playoff spot and they can't (or already did) clinch home-field advantage. Every year, people dispute whether it's ethical for the teams to rest their star players. Same thing happens in the NBA.

Is that a consideration in soccer? Do the fans care? Do players "get cold" from not playing for so long?

    Just curious.

  7. Levitre was eager to bolt once a deal wasn't reached before the start of his final season. Most players fall into that category.

    jw

To me, it's really this simple. The average NFL player gets one big payday. That was Levitre's shot at getting his. He was pretty transparent with his intention to go to the highest bidder. I can't fault him for that. I won't say his name because it'll just make this thread take a turn ... but Levitre's situation last year is not unlike a current Bill's situation this year. Chasing the big pay day. Difference is, Levitre didn't !@#$ his teammates over in the process.

  8. I don't know if this will change your opinion at all; I just like to point out that the team won't have all that cap space forever, and decisions need to be made. They are currently paying Urbik $4M/year, and just extended Eric Wood for $6.5M/year. In another year and a half, they'll need to re-sign Cordy Glenn to LT money ($9M/year minimum). You can't expect to keep every free agent, and if you intend to be a good all-around team, paying $28M/year to 4 players on the OL isn't practical. Good teams don't do that.

You won't find a great team paying top 10 money to more than 1 or 2 offensive linemen. According to Spotrac, here's a list of teams paying top dollar to more than 1 (with average annual salary in parenthesis):

    Jets - Mangold (2) and Ferguson (7)

    Broncos - Clady (1) and Vasquez (10)

    Panthers - Gross (6) and Kalil (1)

    Rams - Long (8) and Wells (4)

    Seahawks - Okung (9) and Unger (6)

    TB - Nicks (1), Joseph (5), and Zuttah (10)

    NO - Evans (3) and Grubbs (7)

That's only 7 teams in the 32-team league that are paying more than 1 OL top 10 money. When Wood's contract kicks in next year, he'll be the 4th-highest paid C in the league in terms of average salary, so saving the big money for Glenn, instead of Levitre, was a wise move IMO.

    Great stuff, Bandit.
