  1. Don't panic. Check the signature.
  2. It's still early but my thoughts are we will be running a 3-4/4-3 hybrid. To do so all we really need is a NT in the draft. Opinions always vary but it looks like there will be 3 guys to consider. Dan Williams, Terrance Cody and Cam Thomas. 1 if not all 3 of those guys should be available by our second round pick. We bring in a serviceable veteran and let him and the rookie duke it out. This still leaves us with the #9 overall for a LT or a possibly a QB depending on which position we fill in free agency.
  3. If we exclude ourselves from drafting players from the football factories from the south we will suck for a LOT longer.
  4. With POZ I think it might be the other way around. As a MLB in a 3-4 he should have fewer pass coverage responsibilities I think and I believe also have a smaller area to cover. Too many times I thought Poz was in the wrong place or attacked the wrong hole because he had to sometimes drop back way deep as is the Tampa2 MLB responsibility or he was over pursuing a run play. I think keeping his mind focused straight ahead and in between the offensive tackles would be good for him. Just talkin' out my butt.
  5. If Schobel retires he retires. He is however a fit for this defense especially since it is a hybrid. That means for a portion of the time he will be playing his good old DE position in a 4-3 look. He will only need to play 3-4 OLB part of the time. We have already seen Schobel drop back into coverage over the years. There are also 3-4 schemes I seem to recall employing a "pass rush specialist"....who does that sound like to you? Schobel should not retire or leave due to scheme. If he is just tired of the game...fine.
  6. Check and Mate. Another stellar example of a BFB. Coaches and owners complained and complained about his weight and all guys like that did were to produce at VERY high levels "Nice hit sumo boy!!!....now get this thing off of me!!!"
  7. QB is important. The problem is is that people seem to have lost their minds and have COMPLETELY forgotten that we have several VERY serviceable options for QB in RFA and UFA. Some of these options could instantly make us more dangerous on offense.
  8. I think we are making too much of the adjustment individual players will need to make. With a monsterous 330 - 370 lb NT that basically has to fall over and take out the center and possibly a guard I think Stroud and Williams, who are used to rushing the passer as is their responsibility in the Tampa 2, will be right at home continuing to do the same while stopping the run. I will give you that Williams is a bit short as far as the prototype goes. I used to bust on him all the time for being the little engine that could but.....well...he can. He has kept proving doubters wrong and a small plus is that I believe he was named to the probowl as a backup or alternate or something. Not bad for a a guy that I thought was a place holder 3 years ago.
  9. 3-4/4-3 Hybrid. Schobel is still going to be stopping the run on occasion from the outside and rushing the QB like he always does. Basically my defense takes Ellison and Kelsay off the field and replaces them with Mt Cody and Maybin. Wtih all of that beef up front Schobel in my opinion would potentially have even less responsibility against the run.
  10. With any luck from the football gods we get Mount Cody in the 2nd or dare I say it ....*gulp* move back into the first round to get him. I know I know. Don't move up to get players. I just don't buy into all of the he's fat and out of shape stuff. That guy is the next Will Wolfork or Shaun Rodgers. Big fat bastards that make RBs get in their belly. If not we have to go with better conditioned options like Cam Thomas or Dan Williams. They are who the "experts" say are the other top NTs.
  11. Small front 3? DUDE....do you realize that Cody, Stroud and Williams are all over 300lbs? Do you realize their combined weight is over a 1/2 ton (+1000lbs)?
  12. Don't panic. I think minus one Terrence Cody that we already have the personnel needed to play the 3-4/4-3 hybrid. Remember George Edwards said we would "start out" in a 3-4. To me it seems that we are going to the next evolution of the defense which the Saints currently play which is the 3-4/4-3 hybrid. We would be perfect for that imo. Check the signature and imagine that lineup on the field. If we get even better talent....then we get even better results.
  13. Harris was also a safety in college before we converted him to LB. He should have no trouble when coverage from a LB is required.
  14. !!!!! 3-4 / 4-3 HYBRID HERE WE COME !!!!! I don't think we need that much of an overhaul. To me the switch to a 3 - 4 means this should/could be our starting LB and DL line up: DLINE Marcus Stroud at DE Terrance Cody at NT (Rookie) Kyle Williams at DE LB Aaron Schobel at OLB (Pass rush specialist) POZ at MLB Mitchell at MLB Aaron Maybin at OLB (Pass rush specialist) This may not be the personnel lineup some envision but it would mean we only need one additional body to play NT. This Would give us a ridiculous amount of run stuffing beef up front. Maybin and Schobel would play in more space and would be free to go completely nuts attacking the QB from the left, the right or both sides. Secondary stays the same maybe trading Whitner in for any kind of draft pick or depth player and letting George Wilson start with Byrd. McGee and McKelvin at CBs

  16. You are a complete joke dude. You realize that the "your wrong and I won't try to explain it to you because you won't understand it" reply is basically the childish internet forum version of "I know you are but what am I?" 11 sacks for a rookie is misleading? Go learn something about football LaDouche-ous!!! Perhaps I should have just taken a queue from the other posters. You are a moron and your false bravado, insubstantial, controversial dribble is a complete waste of time and you should be ignored. In fact without the ability to use the word "parrot" or any synonym or synonymous statement your posts would be almost COMPLETELY empty.
  17. What was that again?.....All I heard was SQWAUK SQWAUK SQWAUK. I didn't think it was possible to "parrot" ones self.
  18. "SQWAUK....you're a parrot.....you're a parrot....SQWAUK....you're a parrot ...your a parrot ....SQWAUK" "SHUT UP LaDouche-ious and eat your bird seed!"
  19. HOW ABOUT THIS..... YOU'RE A JACKASS!!!!! ...NO ....Really! We had the right idea but in typical Bills fashion the wrong execution. Any retard with at least a brain stem knew the pick should have been Orakpo. Rookie DE/LB double digit sacks his first year. Not good enough for you? Don't fault that strategy for the Bills idiotic blunder in choosing the WRONG DE. But, then again, smart people already know that and don't have to told so.
  20. Tell that to the group of LTs that have made the probowl in their rookie or second year over the last 3 or 4. DUDE! Check ESPN every once in a while. They keep you up to date on football knowledge. LTs are coming out of college and not just being good...but PROBOWL good.
  21. QUOTE (DarthICE @ Feb 3 2010, 03:23 PM) * If Bradford Bulaga is still there at #9 and we don't pick him, we will regret it. Scary...We agree 1000% on this.
  22. In a way it is very tough to tell what the hell it is we actually have. Injuries have DECIMATED this team for about the last 3 years or so. How do we evaluate players that are on IR or have played minimal roles because the previous administration had veteran man love? A lot of people like to give up SO easily on a player that hasn't really been given time to develop. I know it's not a popular name but James Hardy is a physical specimen at the WR position. 6' 6", 220 4.5 speed. He sat out over a year with a knee he was rehabbing. He has hopefully learned some good things from TO and paid attention in the film and meeting rooms. We still have Steve Johnson who looked like he was developing faster than Hardy at the time. Both of these guys are entering their all important 3rd year as WRs. Throw in 6' 5" 240+ Shawn Nelson at TE with 4.5 speed and we could have a VERY serviceable group with Lee Evans working the outside. On paper these guys could fill all of our holes at WR/TE and they may actually be given a REAL chance to contribute this year. Bye bye Josh Reed. Figure out the DC. Figure out if we stick with 4-3 tampa crap, move to a 3-4 or go hybrid like the Saints and give either look when it is appropriate. This will determine the priority at LB and possibly NT. After that we need to figure out who makes more sense to get in free agency. Definitely 1 starting caliber LB regardless of defensive scheme. Possibly a big fat bastard NT to plug the middle. Possibly a QB that lets us go LT at #9 or visa versa. Where is the value and good talent in the free agent market? Make the best of that ...fill in the rest at the draft.
  23. Lighten up Francis. You seem to have a persecution complex....Well...who knows?...It's really not paranoia if they really are out to get you. Just havin' a little fun with you. You have to admit it is an unusual post. You suggest we draft 2 or 3 o-lineman and start some of them right away. This seems to say you acknowledge the importance of o-line yet you don't think it important enough to use our first round pick on the position. Seems somewhat contradictory. Hence I assumed you were proposing a viable solution that didn't require a first round pick so you could spend it on another position like QB. If you're not advocating QB in first you must be in that smaller group of people that thinks LB is the key to solving all of our woes. If I got it wrong again. Don't freak out buddy. Who DO you want to spend the #9 pick on???We need LBs no doubt. We need a LT and a QB worse. The real question is which positions do we fill in the draft and which ones in free agency. At the bare minimum I think we need a LT, QB and LB between FA and the draft. In that order of importance.
  24. Butler is RARELY healthy unfortunately.
  25. You REALLY want us to draft a QB at #9 don't you? LOL. Where do you get your intel? The best pass blocking LT is a second round prospect? You need to start hoping that Bryan Bulaga is still available to us at #9.
