Game of Thrones - And Now Our Watch Has Ended!
section122 replied to SlimShady'sSpaceForce's topic in Off the Wall Archives
It doesn't prove anything. It is attempting to show that earlier seasons had some of the same "issues" that people are bemoaning about this season. That the earlier seasons weren't as perfect as many of the criticisms of this season pretend them to be. That's all. It's parody. It says in the title it is parody. I posted it as parody. Parody. -

This is a pretty funny link about how fans have gone off the rails: This show is suffering from giving fans 2 years to theorize and hype up this last season. It will be disappointing for many when things don't happen like they want them to or how they thought it would go. My friend gave me the best advice this season, watch with no expectations. Just enjoy it because it will all be over soon. People want to blame D&D and talk about how better it was when they were still pulling from Martin but here is season 2 episode 9 being broken down like people are with the long night. Enjoy it as a parody but it does raise some good points. -

I read that this morning and thought with all the evidence laid out wouldn't Melisande actually be a better lord of light? If everything has an antithesis as the post states (very Matrix of them lol) then wouldn't her disappearing after serving her purpose of helping defeat the NK be exactly that? If Bran was the lord of light he should have died when the NK did. On a side note I love this series and guessing about it but man there are some fans that do a ton of work with their theories. It has made being a fan so fun. This post was so well done even if it led me to a different conclusion. It is one thing people that watch this show after it is done will miss out on. -
That is what I am talking about. If I understand it correctly there was a lack of clean water for Phish and there was no solution if that problem arose again this year which caused the permit denials. So Watkins Glen had an issue last year that they failed to correct in time for this concert. https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2019/04/26/woodstock-50-delay-statement/ Organizers, notably Lang, failed to explain why they pushed back sales for the upcoming event. A separate report revealed that the event had failed to obtain the required mass-gathering permit from the New York Statement Department of Health (DOH). Without a formal permit, or even a conditional permit, organizers can’t sell tickets. In a press release, promoters dismissed the delay. “Woodstock 50 has delayed its on-sale while we refine logistical plans for what we anticipate will be an amazing Festival in August at Watkins Glen, New York.” In a third (and possibly final) red flag, promoters reportedly filed for the necessary permit much later “than [organizers] would have preferred.” Check out my link. They were late with permits and had no answer for the issue that arose with Phish due to the weather. I'm probably just still mad about the train wreck that 99 was and the clear cash grab this is. Don't mind me lol.

And the dead came through Eastwatch right? I figured they were as there would be no other reason for Howland Reed to be at the Tower of Joy with Ned but appreciate the info. -

I remember Meera saying she had to go be with her family during this time but didn't know that about the books (will only read them after they are all released - the tv show has given me enough blue balls lol). Wonder if we will see them again... -
Watkins Glen with another not so great look. After Phish last year and not being able to get DOH to sign off on permits this year I don't think they can be an option going forward for large festivals... That said, good. This concert was another money grab like 99 was imo.

I did find myself wondering where in the heck was Meera Reed? I thought for sure she would have been there to protect Bran one last time but I didn't see any Reeds when they called all the northern lords at the start of episode 2. Are they not technically in the North? Moreso it was after Lillard hit the series clinching shot and didn't smile/celebrate just a cold blooded assassin which is why Arya's face is so perfect there. -

Tough for me to say as I have watched the entire thing twice, Season 7 a third time preparing for this season, and other episodes on their own a few times. Yes I do have a problem lol. They have some of the imagery in text as well that I would have missed without subtitles but I definitely see your point. Anyone doing a re-watch give it a shot. It really helped me trying to connect all the dots. Also 4 1/2 years later of consuming all tv this way I am well versed lol -

It was the only way and alluded to in episode 2. Jon and Dany planned to engage him in the air until the Dothraki all died (very cool scene was hoping they would come charging back with blue flamed swords though!). Made me laugh thinking of Mike Tyson's "everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." I think Bran knew it too which is why he had his plan to bait the NK. I am stuck on the theory that he knew exactly how it would play out. Not only was it the same dagger but that is where he gave Arya the dagger as well. -

As an aside I highly recommend watching this show with Closed Caption on. There are a lot of subtleties and quiet dialogue that I would have missed throughout. I started watching all tv with sub titles after my daughter was born and I have just left them on. GOT they are fantastic and helped me understand so much more (imo). -

I kind of get it that people really expected more major characters to die but then who moves the last 3 episodes story line? There is still 3+ hours to this story. That is why GOT is so mind blowing to me. These are basically movies we get to watch each week and there is still quite a bit left to play out. Jorah had a perfect death as did Lyanna Mormont imo. Very fitting to their characters. Theon's was a bit odd to me though. Did he really think he could charge 100+ yards at the NK? Or was he just happy dying there? It would have been hilarious if he just turned tail and ran a la Yara's capture -

I know it is dumb but Sansa having red hair just clicked last night as Scottish since this is loosely based on England. I thought she would end on the throne but episode 2 when she was so adamant about the north having independence led me to believe she is happy staying right in winterfell. I wonder about even farther north now though. It has to be completely uninhabited all the way down to winterfell now right? Wildlings are all either dead or at Winterfell. Night's watch doesn't exist anymore. Umbers were destroyed as were the Mormonts. Who is left in the North to rule over? lol -

Thanks I actually thought they were Brown. Might be time to get my own eyes checked! I still think Sansa ends up on the throne but now I am wondering if the North gets its independence (Scotland) and Sansa rules it likely with Tyrion as that couple seems to work. Agreed. I also think people are forgetting that there is an entire other battle remaining to be fought. There is still plenty of time for main characters to die. -

One last question. I know @SDS talked about green eyes possibly being Cersei but what color eyes did Little Finger have? I looked at pictures but couldn't tell. Wasn't an arrow to the eye what finally finished him off when he was alive? I thought that is why he only had 1 eye? Just checked and it was indeed the kill shot from Ramsay Bolton. He should have shot at Jon lol -

Gonna address the bolded sections here: 1. Winter is coming is not about them. It is the Stark's family words. Maybe in a round about way those words are a warning of sorts but they have more to do with the Starks than they do the WW. 2. I thought more main characters would die but Jorrah and Theon are both main characters that have been in all 8 seasons. Melisande and Beric served there purpose. Brienne wouldn't have been emotional as everyone expected her to die imo. Sam will be alive at the end to write this story (also imo). 3 This was explained last episode. The NK wants to erase humanity and Bran is the memory. 4. Just a theory here but one I liked... Bran was in the past making sure all events had lined up correctly to have this moment come as he envisioned it. Rewatch the kill scene. Bran and NK are locked in a stare, Bran looks over NK shoulder (checking for Arya imo), NK looks confused, realizes, turns and catches Arya. I'm in the camp that Bran knew how this would play out but would endager it if he spoke of it. Episode 1 I got the feeling that he was plotting/planning with all his creepy snaeking around. That said, I think any pay off was going to be a let down. This season alone has been built up for 2 years and people have had that long to come to their own conclusions. I didn't like how dark the episode was but I get it. I really didn't like the dragons flying around in the clouds. There was some bad cgi last night and a decent amount of time wasted (it felt). I enjoyed last night for a few reasons. First the call back from Melisande with the quote of closing blue eyes. The dagger as others have stated, starting the war of the 5 kings and ending the great war, the moment Jon charged the NK and he turned around to just raise the dead almost saying I don't care about you, Lady Mormont taking out the giant, Hound freezing yet again and coming to for Arya, the tension in the crypts (I thought we had a double suicide brewing), and more. I'm excited to see the rest of this play out! -
I now understand why the Bills passed on DK Metcalf
section122 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DK was already gone. He went the last pick of the 2nd round. Maybe the Bills would have taken him in the 3rd too. RB shouldn't even be in the conversation since he was taken 10 picks later... -
Its espn insider but before it cuts off you can see it. I'll see if I can find the whole blurb. http://www.espn.com/nfl/draft2018/insider/story/_/id/23377324/nfl-mock-draft-todd-mcshay-way-too-early-first-round-picks-2019

I advised against the bolded... "Except I can guarantee tonight there will be many people that mock the pick, explode because they don't like the pick, etc. Don't be that guy. Don't be an embarrassment to our fan base. Welcome the player as he achieves his life long dream. Don't be Eagles fans booing McNabb and don't be a wrongjosh poster. Be excited. Today is Christmas morning and the Bills get to add young talent to an already exciting young core." The rest is my opinion on the matter and what I will be doing. You do you. I apologize that this thread upsets you so much.
