  1. I'm with you on the team needing to learn to win and feel strongly that a culture change needs to happen. I'm suprised to learn that Freddy and Wood were the leaders especially as you said with Camp Fitz and I hadn't heard that before. I'm also very disappointed. The qb should be a leader and someone that is leaned on when times are tough. Could you imagine Brady or Manning or Brees deferring to someone else? I guess we do agree on the majority of things, except whether that what he said was said was something bad or not. To me it is an indictment of the entire organization. Not a player, coach, unit, or otherwise but the entire organization. Chan's job should be making sure his team stays humble and prepared. This would be where more Merriman and Barnett (FAs from winning teams) would be an asset. It also is why building through the draft is not all its cracked up to be. Until the culture is changed bringing young players into this mess won't help things. I was an athlete and winning was the end goal. When we won it didn't change anything about how I prepared. Then again I didn't have media hounding me for interviews, my time, etc... is there someone on the staff who handles this for players? Is that the media relations guy's job? I remember a quote after Stevie dropped the Steelers ball in ot and an analyst said he dropped that ball not on sun but tues-sat bc of all the media he had done from the Cincy game. Seems someone dropped the ball on preparing/managing these players interviews/appearances. p.s. great discussion nice to have a convo without attacks/name calling but honest discussion about our Bills!
  2. That's what's so scary about those quotes. Fitz is supposed to be the leader and the face of the franchise. Who spoke up when things were bad? Dareus a rookie! I'm as big of a homer/excuse maker as the next guy (ok maybe not as much as PTR but still) but this is a bad situation. I'll again state that these PROFESSIONAL athletes should not have to learn how to win or how to deal with winning - most come from either a very succesful high school or college team. This speaks volumes about the culture of the entire organization and again is a very scary statement. This to me is akin to Jauron's "it's hard to win in the nfl." I'm with you on Upshaw and think that "the culture" needs to be one of excellence "the Yankee or (eff me for even saying this but) the Patriot way." ....and it starts at the top!
  3. wow I thought the shine had completely come off of this guy. He had a couple good years when ray rice was there and hasn't done much since in an absolutely terrible conference. I'm sure its not easy recruiting to NJ and he is very successful for Rutgers but wow. I'll go on record as thinking this will not work out at all.
  4. So he averaged just under 5 catches and 63 yards a game, with no complimentary receiver to take coverage or pressure away, facing the teams best cb each week, with fitz as his qb, and hurt almost the entire year, but he is taken out of most games?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? As for the second part of your comment - have you seen the comments from the Raven and Niners locker rooms? 1 player or play does not lose a game for you. Easy drop in the steeler game yes definitely. Jets game yep but it was in the middle of the field - what about the next play when he was open in the endzone and Fitz threw it behind him? Why does Fitz get no blame for that loss? (if its only one players fault) Bottom line is Stevie is a great player GREAT. If he leaves it will be nothing but a terrible thing for the Bills.
  5. I think we reached this conclusion in another thread and I will 100% agree with that assessment!
  6. I am. Our special teams from a coverage standpoint and punting seem to have gone way down from April. Not sure how Raymer ended up being the choice either but he was beyond terrible. I like Lindell and trust him to make kicks but he is 35. I know kickers play later than most positions but it is definitely something to keep an eye on.
  7. Fitz says "we're hoping that that stability really helps us" = Please don't cut me Is stability on a team not ready to handle success a good thing? Mentality in sports is very difficult to change. On that note how is a professional athlete not ready to handle success? What are they working for? Imo you practice and train your butt off to be successful, and when that happens they don't know how to handle it? That is a very scary indictment of the team and the team leaders. On an aside did anyone see the comment below the article from a niners fan "what's up with stevie johnson? any word.. us niners will take him if you bills can't handle a young star!" talk to your friends who aren't Bills fans and this is a pretty common sentiment among NFL fans. He is going to be a commodity on the fa market - hope the Bills sign him! (Then I wont have to buy ANOTHER jersey lol)
  8. McShay has Upshaw rated as the best pass rusher at the Senior Bowl for all those that say he can't rush the passer. He did gush a bit about Ingram as well
  9. I was starting to get worried That said Tannehill could very easily go top 10. After the Colts take Luck the Browns, Redskins, Dolphins, and possibly the Bucs and Jags may look qb. With only Griffin up there you could easily see a reach. Locker going 8 and Ponder (I believe) 12 was way ahead of where most projections had them. It appears Tannehill is the clear cut 3rd rated qb (Mayock, Brandt, and mcshay) so hopefully a team reaches on him and you are wrong about him barbarian Will I be mad if the Bills take him? Depends on who is on the board when the Bills are on the clock but more than likely yes. Only Luck and rg3 @ QB to me are worthy of the Bills selection (and both will be long gone before it)
  10. Paging Buffalo Barbarian...........
  11. yes and are dreaming of a line that feature Dareus, Soliai, and Williams. That would help our run d and pass rush as Dareus and Williams are both penetrators. I think it would help tremendously. Nickel could even be a 3-3-5 look to utilize them on all 3 downs.
  12. If and I mean big IF we go for a smallish receiver I would much prefer Ryan Broyles. He's projected as a mid round pick and was extremely productive for Oklahoma. That said Buddy has a history of drafting big receivers. Look at SD's wr draft picks and you will see they are mostly mid rounders with height.
  13. not for nothing but Bob Kraft was supposedly instrumental in getting the lockout ended (as per Jeff Saturday). With his wife passing away there is a lot to lead you to the perfect story for the Pats. Owner works out labor deal, loses wife, wins championship avenging loss of undefeated season. Seems like a very compelling storyline esp when you consider the media empire that is ESPN and its close proximity/ball licking towards everything Boston. If Steratore is reffing in the Super Bowl you won't be able to convince me it's not fixed as he seems to be in the middle of many many questionable calls that have affected outcomes in games including but not limited too; the just give it to them game, the calvin johnson non catch, the stevie non catch against the Bengals, and the pitt-mia game when Rothlisburger fumbled and the steelers were given the ball anyway. How is this guy still in the league?
  14. My friends and I were talking about these drugs during the games yesterday. Gronk took a nasty hit/tackle and was obviously gimpy, however, we all new he would go back get shot up and be back out on the field. It got me to thinking how much of the early deaths and birth defects in their children we see with football players are contributed to this. Dangerous game they play not only short term but long term with these side effects. Concussions rightfully so are at the forefront of the nfl's concern, but the punishment (and treatment) these players put their bodies through should be as well.
  15. I gotta say this is the best answer I've seen. Makes a whole lot of sense. Part of me still feels bad for the new guys that get sucked into it though haha. And annoyed with the mods that let it go on ahem*beerball*ahem or worse contribute to it.
  16. Sorry cant stand it... I have yet to figure out why trolling by crayonz is acceptable but others (rightfully) get run off the forum for it.
  17. Luckily the guy wouldn't let me moneyline my if/come so I got the points and won my bet! I know its early but I'm looking at Giants and the under for the sb
  18. I just figured out Crayonz is Jimmy Spags! Please people how many times can you get roped by this? I'll try to help.... CRAYONZ IS A TROLL!!!!!!!
  19. Wow! I won't call you any names bc I knows it's frowned on but your bus isn't very long is it? I will thank you for making my job easier and underlining the most ridiculous part... It's kind of a pain from my phone. If Stevie put up his numbers on any other team you'd be hoping for the bills to sign him... But since he already plays for the bills he sucks I guess
  20. Even though I disagree with your post in almost its entirety I will only point out the flaws in the bolded sections... First you have limited viewing but already know he has a low ceiling? How are you making an assesment without knowledge? Second you name 2 other player who would be better than him if... doesn't that make them not as good as him? Lastly, I know they are only mocks but the latest I have seen him go in any mock is 17. So middle to top of the round looks like the floor of where he will be picked.
  21. NE is supposedly a base 3-4 team and ran a ton of 4-3 this year. Its the way the league is moving. Why would you not want versatility in your scheme? People need to move past what the base is and realize many teams spend more time in the nickel than anything else due to the volume of passing in this league.
  22. The bigger news in this story to me is how far Vince Young's star has fallen. He went from being a hot commodity to being moved on from for Trent?! He must be dumber than we thought! Or maybe its the whole dream team thing that falls on his shoulders. Either way I'm shocked! btw Trent was HORRIBLE in Jax how does even get this shot? Is it still because Bill Walsh thought he was good? I'm thoroughly confused by this.
  23. Exactly my fiancee doesn't mind wearing one... and that's why I'm marrying her!
  24. I'm betting the ravens and giants... On the money line!
  25. I can't be the only person that thinks the sexiest thing in the world is a girl in a Bills jersey!
