  1. Spark? Did someone say spark the Bills to victory? Let's not understate it here. Fitz put this team on his BACK and CARRIED them to victory through the sheer force of his will and determination. Indeed, the 20 megaton shine of his performance so BLINDED Sanchez that Fitz himself was responsible for 4 of those INTs. Oh yeah. It's Fitz time, Buffalo.

    Get your shades on.

    GO BILLS!!!

  2. I'm saying some can't tell the forest from the trees around here. We made our opponents defend the entire field tonight. The line looked a lot better than they have all season. We sustained drives and held the ball for 40 minutes. We rested the defense, and they made a lot of plays. What was the difference? Well, ditching the no huddle helped, but just as important was taking shots down the field and making the opponents play honest D instead of stacking up on us.

I'm sure either way it had nothing to do with the other team not being able to sustain drives and committing turnovers every other play. I don't think time of possession is affected by the that type of thing.

  3. They played tough to the end. Yes, I consider that a spark. It was a helluva lot better than the past 2 weeks. This was a strong division opponent. True, ugly win, but the team fought hard and FOUND A WAY TO WIN. How often can you say that lately?

the strong division opponent that was on a two game losing streak? We watched different games...six turnovers..did you see the inexplicable pass that Sanchez made for an interception when he mad about 10 yards of open space? Fitzpatrick somehow did this?

Obviously, they found a way to win. Time to lock up Jauron for an additional seventeen years.

  4. Zero 3rd down conversions is one reason to not be very excited about Trent's performance. Another is that the team just doesn't seem to believe in him to get it done. It seems the QB change kind of sparked the team. 5/5 for 43 yards is all well-and-good, but zero 3rd down conversions is not inspiring play.

You call what we saw today 'Sparked'? One win and everybody loses their freakin mind. This is Rayn Fitzpatrick...not Matt Ryan.

  5. before anyone tries to defend Edwards or Losman remember that we have had one of the worst offenses in the NFL statistically every season they have started, not to mention team history... fact not fiction, they deserve to be in this conversation.

No, because as you mention right there...our offense has sucked majorly for a long time. So there is no QB controversy. It's going to suck regardless.

  6. My bad - the smiley aren't working on my ****ty comp. I apologize if I missed obvious sarcasm.

It is my fault, really. I though the absurdity of Peters asking for 500k to finish the game was apparent, but it's Peters, so I really should have included the smiley in my post.

  7. Careful, Jeremy. There's a 97 page, 12,000 post (and counting) thread below full of the opinions of those ready to smite you for your sacrilege. Be prepared. And be very, VERY afraid of these people.

    GO BILLS!!!

I didn't say he was bad...I think he's the best Lt in the game...just said the 10 million a year contract wasn't quite enough and Peters let them know. They'll know better the next game. You've gotta pay for talent. Why balk at 500k when you've already paid 10 million?

  8. This is a pretty bad thing to take away from this game. People are overreacting to the "badness". Changing Trent Edwards for Fitzpatrick doesn't make this team any better in the end. Focus on where the fault lies:

    Jim Overdorf

    Tom Modrak

    John Guy

They need to go and then we can worry about if *one* position needs to be changed.

  9. I keep seeing this fancy of the moment all over these boards and I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of attention of the minds who are making decisions for the Bills. I've seen it range from Russ Brandon, to Trent Edwards, to Bobby April to Dick Jauron. They certainly all have fault on the current situation, but this is distracting and it's takes attention away from the constant...the "football" minds who have had say in the Bills decisions for many years now:

Jim Overdorf (really not sure why he isn't mentioned more)

    Tom Modrak

    John Guy

They have been here through TD, Marv and now Russ. It's obvious they have the "trust" of Ralph and likely don't exactly "answer" to Russ Brandon. However, this can quickly lead to losing focus on these guys. My point here is that it's unlikely anyone is going to Russ for his advice on players even if his name is on the dotted line, the decision is likely actually made elsewhere.

So hears how it ends up making the team worse. Let's say Brandon is replaced as the GM, Trent as the QB and Jauron as the coach. The question you have to ask is how does this actually "change" the Bills. We've had more aggressive coaches and QBs...same end result. We had a very experienced GM in TD, but the end result was still the same.

So maybe changing out Trent ends up winning us a couple games because Fitzpatrick "throws deep" or whatever level of awesome you want to assign to him (boy, the standards for awesome have changed). Rex Ryan is pretty aggressive as a coach and he *lost* to Dick Jauron.

This is the big mistake I see after today's game, "WOW, We won with Fitzpatrick! We never would have won with Edwards!"

Perhaps this is true, but the cat may be alive, it may be dead. We don't know. This line of thinking takes us away from the point though. It's the same team, the same end result. Let's focus on changing the guys who *decided* Trent Edwards was a good pick or failed to provide an environment for their picks to succeed.

Let's keep focused on the front office that needs to make a change to begin *actually* overhauling this team and not throwing a patch over the leaks.
