I always like this idea and then the reality thwaps me in the face. You can't evaluate that many QBs and you're hoping that some team will want him. We can use cousins as an example, he had a brief, good showing and his trade value still likely isn't equal to where he was drafted. It's a tall order to say that a guy who would be a backup can show enough to net you a better pick than what you use before his rookie contract is up.

I'm all for signing the guy, but I'm not sure how Dansby changes your outlook from no playoffs to playoffs.

It's not the pick I'd envision, but I don't think you have to be creative to envision a use. A standard three receiver set with spiller in the backfield..have Goodwin lined up opposite of Stevie and TJ on the same side as Stevie and have them both run deep routes. That would pull the corner and LB/safety back and then like the two normal safeties back for over the top. That would mean a linebacker on Spiller and Single coverage on Stevie.

I want them to draft a QB, but is drafting a QB because they failed to address in the past a good idea? Drafting a QB to draft a QB, seems like a poor reason. Would you still want them to do something NOW, if you you were blessed with clairvoyance and knew the QB they selected was going to a middling quasi starter?

My emotional response is I want them to draft a QB.I want them to draft three QBs. I think the best decision would be to trade back and collect picks for the next season and look at a move up.

That's a good article, but I wonder if there are some larger studies. That article is speaking about multiple sports suffering a decline with football being the largest which indicates there may be some other things going on as well. A lot of what I've seen has been anecdotal or been in schools/areas that are suffering other issues as well that complicate the issue.
