  1. "I remember when this guy got drunk and spouted off and Manning called him an idiot punter." That was Mike Vanderjagt (or similar)
  2. How do you know if any of those players would have been any good on this team?
  3. 5-11 with luck Gailey compiled six winning seasons in six years at the helm. However, he never defeated Tech's biggest rival, the University of Georgia, never won the ACC, never went to a BCS bowl, never won more than 9 games, and never finished in the top 25. The 2006 season was his most successful at Georgia Tech winning the ACC Coastal Division, but losing his last 3 games to rival UGA, Wake Forest in the ACC championship game and West Virginia in the Gator Bowl. (from wiki)
  4. I am guessing that none of the big names are going to let Russ Brandon make the personnel decisions.
  5. You know, there may be an element of strategy in all of this. It just possible that people are interested in the job, the control, the money and the ownership without coming right out and saying "That's a better offer than I ever dreamed possible." If you have 5-6 teams interested, why wouldn't you string them all along and try to get the best overall offer? Also, IMO the control is probably the biggest thing to these already wealthy guys.
  6. Since Marty is out, why not Don Shula? Just as logical as any other name tossed out there.
  7. I will be surprised if we get any big name coach. I hope I'm wrong. I agree that it's not a ticket selling thing, more of a face saving for next year.
  8. My read on Kelly's comments is that he's given up on Edwards due to TE's lack of mental toughness. He won't even try to make the throws and he's not a leader. He's the anti-Kelly in those ways.
  9. It's a good dream. I hope it comes true. Isn't he as big as Ellison?
  10. Can't do that. We have to protect our high spot in the pass defense rankings.
  11. I'm thinking he has a shot at the record this week. Isn't is 303 yards?
  12. If Edwards realizes that his career is pretty much over unless he starts making the throws, and he then responds by actually making them, then maybe we get more than 2 more wins. I would love to see him decide to at least try to become a QB and salvage his career, but I'm not holiding my breath. On the other hand, we were down to our 4th right tackle last week. The remaining talent is weak.
  13. "Also, that the overall talent level on the team was so low that 1/2 to 2/3 of the roster could be gone, no big deal or loss." Turning over 2/3 of the roster would make things difficult (but what else is new). I think more than 1/3 of the roster is players with good talent, though maybe not more than 1/2.
  14. He played against some horrible teams in that short span. Still, now he is bad against even the horrible teams. I guess his new plan is to hope to be decent against the worst teams. That's ambitious.
  15. And it took 2 83 yard passes in the first quarter to do it. Even in that game, not much passing after the 1st.
  16. The averages are decent on first and second down (8.7 yards combined), but all of those penalties are part of what's killing the team on third down too. Still, as he points out, even when it is third and short we convert only 13 of 37 (35%). And if it's more than 1 we're pathetic.
  17. I would take them all too, though I also think Wade has shown the ability to be mediocre or slightly better with good talent to work with. If he could get this crew to slightly above mediocre that would be a hell of an improvement.
  18. What has Mangini showed in two organizations? 8-3 start last year - collapse. And did you see the Browns game? Also, he seems to lack credibility with his own players. People want him out of Cleveland like he was Dick Jauron. He would be an improvement, but I'm (foolishly) hoping for someone good.
  19. The Jets ran for 183 yards even ignoring a 64 yard run and a 71 yard run. There are plenty of problems there. I agree that there are some building blocks, but that run defense is killing us.
  20. At least he might have some upside. Who knows? It's great to hear that they will go for a cheap player high up in the draft (assuming Clayton's sources are accurate). Maybe they can trade away high draft choices for high motor practice squadders with upside. Big savings there.
  21. 10. Miscellaneious prediction: Delhomme gets well (I hope not, but...)
