  1. The car statement is quite possibly the silliest argument I have seen here ever on any topic. You are comparing something that in todays society is necessary like being in a car to a 100% optional activity like playing football? Fearful? I prefer my kids don't suffer unnecessary brain injury due to playing one particular high risk sport. If that makes me fearful to you, then OK. I am fearful. Life is too short and too precious in my opinion to take stupid risks in the name of playing a meaningless (in the grand scheme of things) game. Stats on US High School Sports Concussions Tackle football certainly leads the way in the major US sports, at least according to these various studies. Will tackle football die? Who can say. There may well be enough kids not allowed to play to kill, or at least severely diminish, the popularity of it. Or maybe there will always be enough parents who allow their kids to play despite the risks. Time will tell. From what I read however, particularly in the south high school football doesn't seems to be suffering from lack of participants or fans.
  2. But not by parents.
  3. Wide right. There is not even a close second for me. The Bills were the better team that season, they were not in their other SB appearances. That is the one that got away in my opinion and even "no goal" doesn't come close in my mind.
  4. I never looked at it from the feeder perspective, but I cannot disagree. Not just a shortage of future players either, but future fans as well. With fewer kids playing that could mean fewer following the game as adults.
  5. Not almost ... Zero. You can live to be 200 but if you are a drooling idiot 160 of those years is that a good thing?
  6. End zone seats are feast or famine. Very nice when the play is in your end of the field. Sucks balls when it is in the other end. On the tunnel side at least you can watch the scoreboard when play is at the other end. There is a reason why seats in the rockpile are so cheap. But if you want to party, that's the place to be.
  7. There was a segment on the evening news last night about soccer and concussions. It is apparently a big problem with girls because their necks are not strong enough and they tend to be borderline reckless going for 50/50 balls. Not as big of a problem with boys. Certainly nowhere near tackle football. My wife is a nurse and we have neighbors who are doctors, one is a head trauma specialist. Neither of my boys were allowed to play tackle football, only flag when they were very young. Simply not worth the risks. I am not really a football fan, I am a Bills fan strictly. I have no guilt watching the players hurt themselves and each other. They are adults making a conscious decision to play a game for big money they know is likely to decrease the quality of their lives later in life. I do, however, not like it when I see kids playing full contact tackle football. 99% of them are not going on to the NFL and big $$$. They are risking the rest of their lives for nothing.
  8. BC is right of course. But it would be interesting to look back say 10 years and see how accurately the line has been in predicting straight-up wins/losses. EDIT: And of course there's a web site for that Gambling sites are blocked here at work, but it looks like this site analyzes this.
  9. I'm not sure about "drama" but they did change things around a little. Most people that had an opinion preferred the old layout, but the new one is fine as well.
  10. It is very annoying. How are the chinese cloners supposed to get the rookie jerseys to market?
  11. No that was during a day practice. I wasn't there but my family was. My wife was impressed with how Gailey handled the situation.
  12. I agree with you about Barnett. That was an excellent pickup. But lets face it, my 10 year old could have made the Dareus pick Next draft Nix works on the offense, and he is starting in a much better position than he was with the defense. It certainly appears to me, a self proclaimed realist, that the Bills have turned the corner.
  13. No issue with any kind of "spy gate" in training camp. Of all of the open practices I have been to at SJF I have never seen anything but basic plays and formations. They certainly are not running anything that would need to be kept a secret from other teams.
  14. I remember looking for satellite feeds last year and several teams were broadcasting from camp. I think it was through ESPN if memory serves. The Bills were not one of those teams last year, but there does not appear to be a NFL rule against it.
  15. Not sure I completely agree with you here. In my opinion Nix did a great job this off season both in free agency and the draft. But his previous two attempts, not so much. The offense going into this season is not that much different than last season. While some think it was just injuries that made the offense fall off a cliff the last half of the season and the offense is fine. I think it was defenses figuring out Gaileys 5-wide thing and the fact that the defense, sucky as they were, got an extraordinary amount of turnovers during the first part of the season which is not a sustainable way to win over the course of a season. I expect the defense to be greatly improved this coming season, but unless Gailey has some magic up his sleeve I don't expect the offense to be anything but average. If Nix can hit another home run next off season and retool the offense, and Gailey can manage to not force feed his 5-wide system all the time, 2013 could be a Bills season all of us fans have been waiting for a long time.
  16. Injuries always play a big role for every team. The Bills made great strides with the defensive starters this off season. But team depth is still a big question mark. With the exception of maybe the secondary and running backs, any injury to a starter is going to be extremely noticeable.
  17. I love this place. People claiming they would not trade Fitz straight up for Luck or RG3 or even some of the proven top QBs in the league. Nothing wrong with being a homer I guess I have never said "I'm through with this team" before. But if Indy offered the Bills a Fitz for Luck trade straight up and the Bills declined, I would be through with the team.
  18. I agree that the QB is a weak link, but not the weakest. Fitz has his weaknesses like you stated but he is far from a disaster. But behind Fitz there is nothing but despair and failure which makes the position overall pretty weak. In my opinion however the weakest "position", based on last season, is offensive coordinator. The quickest way to end this season for the Bills is pigpen playing because Fitz went down. But the second quickest way is Gailey forcing his 5-wide gameplans all season again and not adapting to defenses. Gailey is alleged to be a offensive genius by some here, he showed me none of that last season. If he does considerably better this season and this weakness becomes a strength then watch out. If this season is more of the same from Chan-the-man then the word of the season will be mediocrity.
  19. I doubt the "branches" will be investigated much. In my opinion neither the NFL or King Roger really want to know how pervasive this was/is. They just want it to be over and go away.
  20. Actually now that I think about it, the DHGate manufacturers probably care. They want to get Marios jersey to market
  21. It's a !@#$ing number. Who gives a ****.
  22. Wow talk about a meaningless line.
  23. So in your opinion VY absolutely doesn't think he is a better QB than Fitz? And the Bills know that for a fact as well. You certainly claim to have a lot more detailed knowledge of the situation than I do
  24. My first post was that I found it interesting that everyone here assumed VY was being brought in as the backup. I at least haven't made that assumption.
  25. I doubt ChaNix assume VY would be the starter any more than they assume he will be the backup. At the very least VY should be able to beat out pigpen for the backup position. If VY somehow had a change of life and has his head on straight he could end up as a better option as the starter than Fitz. The point being, they won't know unless they try. Assuming the price is right they have at worst an upgrade to the backup position and at best a better starter AND a better backup. This only has upside in my opinion.
