  1. Not saying he is the answer, since he remains unsigned, but could he be worse than our current OLB situation?

What is his deal anyway? The guy was an all-world linebacker with Baltimore. MMade 2 pro bowls and was voted all-pro in 2006. The guy signs a 35 million dollar contract with the pats, looks to have the NFL by the short and curlys....and falls off the face of the earth!! Maybe he got off the juice.

  2. Um, those aren't 'swirling trade rumors' - that's one Green Bay fan from Milwaukee, pissed off after his team lost to the Bears last nite, writing down his thoughts and hopes...

"Maybe now the Packers will make some progress in their oft-rumored efforts to swing a deal for disgruntled Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch."

Maybe??? Oft-rumored??? Rumor of a Lynch trade only began to surface 10 days ago after their RB Ryan Grant tore 2 ligaments in his leg, ending his season.

"An NFL source said Monday night that the Bills, who had rebuffed not only the Packers’ advances but any team’s inquiries about the availability of the 2007 first-round draft pick, have put out word that they will at least start listening to offers for Lynch. Whether the Packers will – or will try to – trade for Lynch before the Oct. 19 trade deadline remains to be seen."

An NFL source??? Sounds like one individual that occasionlly speaks to the writer, not 'swirling rumors'. What this NFL source does, and how credible he is, we don't know.

Multiple reports in recent weeks have said that the Packers inquired about Lynch’s availability, and the source confirmed Monday night that the team had indeed contacted the Bills about him, even before Lynch ran 17 times for 64 yards against the Packers last week.

Multiple reports = many other columnists saw the original report that the Packers made overtures for Lynch when Grant incurred his season-ending injury (= old news)

the source = one 'source' telling the writer that the Packers contacted the Bills when Grant incurred his season-ending injury (= old news)

Lynch is our best RB threat from LOS - absolutely punishing, bounces off tacklers. Trading him would be stupid, and Buddy Nix is not stupid.

Well stated. I have recently changed my opinion regarding Lynch. He really looks good right now...absolutely punishing. If/when we improve our offensive line, Lynch and Spiller are going to make a pretty scare backfield tandem. I think it would be preferable to trade Fred Jackson. I like the guy a lot, but have a lot of talent at RB. Definitely time to stock up on some draft picks.

  3. Chris Kelsay is well deserving of a big contract extension.

He is obviously well respected among players and coaches, as he is a multiple time team captain selection.

He has never been an off the field issue, he doesn't complain, and provides solid veteran leadership.

Even if you don't think he is an elite player, the fact is the Bills have to play someone at outside linebacker. Look at the other outside linebackers on the team - Ellis, Torbor, and Maybin? It's not realistic to cut the entire group in one offseason.

You have to pay somebody to pay outside linebacker for the Buffalo Bills, so it might as well be a good, hard working guy like Chris Kelsay.

Dude Kelsay was a below average 4-3 defensive end, and has thus far proven to be horrible at 3-4 OLB. He is HORRIBLE in pass coverage, and can't shed blockers to play the run. If he gets a lucrative contract extension...it will be a travesty. Yes....we have to play someone at outside backer....and that person may be Kelsay for this season. I would be bitterly disapointed, however, to see him on this team come next season. Garbage.

  4. you saw Green play in the first game? That is quite a trick.

Read my post carefully. I didn't saw that I saw him play in the first game...simply summarizing my perception of his performance throughout the pre-season. Wisea#@. I don't think anyone can argue, based on his Green's horrid play, that Gailey needs to be looking at other options right now (i.e., Meredith, Callaway, anyone with a heartbeat). He sucked in Oakland and now he sucks in buffalo...surprise!!

  5. I agree that the special teams units have been a glaring weakness on this team so far, but I don't know that I would blame Bruce DeHaven just yet. Chan Gailey has made it known that he is not going to keep "special teams only" players on this roster. That really limits the personnel that Bruce has to work with. We will all be missing guys like John Wendling and Justin Jenkins.

  6. Optimistically speaking....the guy has the potential to be a decent situational pass rusher. Over the course of the pre-season, it seems that he has developed, with the help of some good coaching, some tools to help compensate for his lack of size and strength. I noticed that pretty little "dip move" that he used on his second sack. Granted, it was against a second-third stringer, but he made the guy look foolish. Best case scenario...Elvis Dumerville 2.0, worst case scenario...Vernon Gholston.

  7. After watching the first three preseason games, I have been consistently disgusted with the play of Cornell Green at RT. The guy is possibly the worst run blocker I have ever seen, and he isn't much better at pass blocking. He gets pushed around like a little B word, and pass rushers run past him like he is standing still. He looks like a fool out there. Is this guy really going to be our starting RT come week one? I have a hard time believing that Chan really thinks that this is the best we can do at this position. I would rather see Meredith, or dare I say it, Chambers starting in his place. Something has to be done about this. SERENITY NOW!!!

  8. No disrespect intended Cotton.

It's just that when I saw the thread, I thought there might be some valid information with regard to our new strength and conditioning program. With half of our roster being on the IR last season, I think strength and conditioning is one of the factors that could really help to improve the team this coming season. In particular, our offensive line could stand to be stronger, quicker, and better conditioned. I envision our weight room last season....players sitting on the weight benches watching re-runs of Judge Judy and Jerry Springer.

That being said...I can appreciate your sense of humor.

  9. I personally think Marshawn would fetch better trade compensation than people on this board seem to think. Prior to last season, the guy was putting up pro-bowl numbers with an atrocious offensive line and absolutely NO passing game. Imagine what he would do behind an offensive line like the San Diego Super-Chargers have. His character issues aside...the guy's an offensive coordinator's wet dream. I don't think a team would be willing to give up a low 2nd for him, but I could see a later 2nd or 3rd round pick happening.

I hate to say it, but it's time to move on from the beast mode era. Get what we can for him and then draft a "change of pace" running back to compliment Jackson.

  10. Wouldn't be surprised to see Chris Chambers in Buffalo, and I wouldn't mind taking a serious look @ Jordan Shipley. Shipley's a Welker clone that would more than just fill the void left be Reed. :(

Agreed...I would love to see Jordan Shipley on this team. He's a possession receiver with big game experience, and he's tough as hell. Seems like he would fit well in Buffalo. If he's still on the board in rounds 3 or 4, and he likely will be, I think Nix and the boys should strongly consider him.

  11. I respect your "educated idea," but couldn't disagree with you more. First of all, Clausen is not going to be there at # 9. There is no way he make is past St. Louis, Seattle, and Washington. Secondly, this team's most pressing need is at left tackle. I suspect that we will take the best available left tackle at #9, and then POSSIBLY a QB in round 3 or 4 if a worthwhile player is available. I see more pressing needs at LB, DE, and possibly WR. I feel like there will be some decent WR's left in the 4th round.

Who knows though....based on past drafts we are likely to draft a cornerback and a LB/S tweener in rounds 1 & 2. God I love being a Bills Fan!!!

    Just for laughs...

    Here's my 4 round mock:

Round 1: Anthony Davis OT Rutgers

Round 2: Brandon Spikes LB Florida

Round 3: Greg Hardy DE Ole Miss

Round 4: Mardy Gilyard WR Cincinnati...or...Jevan Snead QB Ole Miss

  12. I find it laughable that people are so enamored with Roscoe because his numbers in no way justify the hype. Agreed that he has perhaps been bit by the QB situation in Buffalo but arguably that is a two way street. He is overpaid and underperforms. While I recognize there are designed reads on plays and he is likely not the first option on most of them if he consistently gets open he will get more chances. My belief is that he does not create enough separation and trent has trouble finding him over the middle because of his size.

Personally, I wish the Bills would have traded him.

There is still time......I heard that Baltimore is looking for some help at wide receiver. At this point, I would be happy with a 4th round pick in 2010. We really don't need him.

  13. I have a feeling that Demetrius Bell will be starting by week 5. Langston Walker will be moved to RT, and then Butler can fight it out with Wood/Levitre for the Guard spots. One of the biggest knocks on Bell last year was his lack of strength and his tendency to be overpowered by bull rushers. Rumor has it that he has been hitting the weight room hard during the offseason. One can only dream.
