  1. I know his replacement Darren Rizzi he's a good guy with a lot of experience he should do a good job for them....
  2. I totally agree with Ralph wanting to run the team like its 1960 and not wanting to give up control. What I just don't get is he's been staunch in keeping the Bills in WNY all these years why wouldnt he have some type of succession arrangement when he passes to keep the team in WNY?
  3. At least it could've come from a starter not a second or third stringer.... If I was HC of a NFL team there would be no twitter accounts allowed for players or coaches. Im sure NFLPA would have issue with it but there always seems to be someone going off half cocked and saying something that ends up as bulletin board material or is embarrassing or relveals something about the team that is supposed to be private.....
  4. Actually Polian was Director of Pro Personnel and took over for Terry Bledsoe when he got ill
  5. I don't know how many times we're going to get blown out this year but in both the 84 and 85 2-14 seasons we got blown out in 6 games in 84 and 4 in 85. and the other gmaes were close within ten points or less accept a 31-17 loss in 84.
  6. Obviously I agree with you. I was totally as angry watching what we all saw yesterday. But a quarter of the way through the season there's not much that can be done at this point. I know everyone is frustrated and wants heads to roll. You can't cut the whole team and there aren't a bunch of fa's available out there that are any good that can come in and contribute. I'm all for trades that make sense but unless it brings us value there's no point in trading a guy like Lee Evans just to trade him. Unless someone on a Super Bowl run gets desperate for a WR and is willing to give up a ridiculous pick why not wait and trade him in the offseason. I know everyone is saying Buddy didnt address the o line and QB situation. While the Cornell Green signing is perplexing I can only think its a kneejerk reaction to our projected RT retiring out of the blue. I think they could've drafted another OT somewhere in the draft but apparently they didnt think there was one of value at their pick until Wang in round 5. I don't think there were any decent FA tackles available that I know of. As far as QB, drafting one just to draft one makes no sense. If they didnt think Clausen or McCoy were "it" why draft them. As far as FA QB's who were out there...Derek Anderson? Jake Delhomme? McNabb didnt want to come to Buffalo and last I checked Jason Campbell was benched in Oakland.... I hoped for a better showing but I do think Nix made it obvious if not clear that while he planned on being competetive that this was going to take some time....yes its been ten years but Donahoe/Levy/Brandon and their picks are not Nix's fault...... I don't necessarily get the Kelsay deal either......
  7. I don't know that we'll ever have teams again like we had in the SB years but those teams took time to build Kelly and Talley drafted in 1983 (Kelly didnt sign till 86) Bruce and Andre drafted in 1985 Will Wolford drafted in 1986 Kent Hull was signed in 1986 Thurman was drafted in 1988 The Cornelius trade took place in 1987 and Shane Conlan was drafted in 1987 The 84 draft didnt yield anyone outside of Greg Bell who never did much and John Kidd the punter we were 8-8 in 83, 2-14 in 84 and 85, 4-12 in 86, 7-8 in 87, 12-4 in 88, and 9-7 in 89 then things really took off I know Nix is no Polian but assuming and this is a Big assumption, that Buddy is left alone to make his own moves, is given a few years, and chooses players well its still going to take some time.... That being said, I'm as frustrated at watching this team as everyone else on the board....
  8. We havent heard a word out of Buddy since after the opening day loss when he spoke at the QB Club.... I wonder if he will make any comments or statements today after that terrible showing yesterday.....
  9. Gailey brought in guys that he said were "teachers" wasn't that the same thing Williams did that didnt work? Most people in Management positions in just about any industry are going to try and bring in at least a few of "their people" when hired into a new company. Thats not necessarily a bad thing. However, it all depends on knowing the right people......Pioli's people are apparently better than Chan's people.... Im not really familiar with KC's roster so I can't say that they have more talent than we do but I doubt its any worse....
  10. I agree. However let's just hope they get those drafts right and pick the right players....
  11. Green may get benched but not cut because they'd be on the hook to pay his entire salary for this year if they cut him....
  12. I agree with the article. As far as benching Trent after two games maybe Gailey saw all he needed to see. As far as releasing him I bet it was mutual. Trent after being benched again kind of had his balls cut off as a leader and had no future with the team so let him go find another team where he gets a new start. I have nothing against the guy. I hope he can find success somewhere else and if he does good for him its no egg on the Bills face. It just was never going to happen for him here....
  13. I could see them taking the top rated Tackle in the draft in the top five and grabbing a QB in the second or trading back into the bottom of the first for a QB....San Diego did that (well similar) grabbing LT and Brees number one and number two....and yes I know they picked up Rivers but last time I checked Brees had won a SB and the Chargers aren't looking that great....even though Rivers is a very good QB.....
  14. I think its a win-win scenario. He couldn't have been happy even if he said all the right things, no one really wanted to see him come off the bench if something happens to Fitz. It appeases certain fans and shows Buddy/Chan aren't stubborn and will admit mistakes. As dumb as this sounds I think it was a class move on part of the organization- I'm sure they talked to him about it. You had to know someone was going to make a waiver claim for him which not only will guarantee the remainder of his contract (if he sticks)but gives him a shot and doing something somewhere else where he has a new start. People are looking at QBs that have been out of football. Like Trent or not he's started games in each of the last three years and is in "football shape" someone was going to take a flier on him.....
  15. While I wouldnt rule out a trade I doubt they're looking for a backup QB. At this point they'd be better off w Brohm then someone who doesn't know the system/playbook....
  16. It seems like its so personal with everyone and Trent. Its not like hes some cocky d-bag who thought he was God being rude to people all over Buffalo. Its like everyone seemed to want the guy to fail. Im glad they made the move to Fitz but (blindly) was hoping Trent would find his mojo again and get it done if for no other reason then it wouldve solved our QB problem. I hope it works out for him somewhere else. And if it does I don't think the Bills will have egg on their faces. Its not like they ran him out of town without giving him a shot and he lights it up somewhere else. They gave him every chance to get it done and he didnt get it done. Chances are he'll be a career backup but I hope he somehow figures it out and ends up starting somewhere down the line
  17. The Bills released Trent. Its on their website http://www.buffalobills.com/news/article-3/Trent-Edwards-released-by-Bills/01f3cf8a-37e3-41d9-b2c8-bc05e07df57c
  18. I just hope he gets the offense going so we can at least make it an interesting game this weekend.....
  19. You're absolutely right! I don't know that a win this week would guarantee a winning record or playoffs but to win in a stadium we've never won in would definitely be progress!
  20. I liked him and thought they were going to keep him on the roster but I can see why they wouldnt keep 4 rbs plus a fb....
  21. I don't think Gailey gives a damn what the fans or media think. He's going to do what he thinks is best (whether it turns out to be right or wrong). I think the move is exactly what he says it is- to try and get a spark. Its been two weeks and even with a more simplified game plan nothing changed from week one to week two. I know its not all Trents fault and I have nothing against him. Maybe he's just not capable of executing. Throw Fitz in there and see if he can rally the guys and score some points. It wasnt a kneejerk reaction in the middle of a game, he obviously gave it thought before making the decision. Even if he truly "expects to win" surely he's "been around enough winning programs" to know that this roster is devoid of talent. With that said, I'm sure he wants to win as many games as he can in his first season even if he knows it won't be many. He knows he and Nix are going to be looking for the QB of the future after this season. However, I'm sure he wants to see improvement in the players that will be here next season especially the younger guys. Hence the move to Fitz to try and bring some life to the offense to give the other guys a chance to learn and have some success. What Sully calls "panic mode" I call balls. While he doesn't come out and scream "Hey I made a mistake picking Trent to start" he's not too stubborn or worried about people thinking that he made a mistake to make the change. Jauron would wait until things got even worse or Trent got slightly knicked up to pin it on an injury or would've been worried about hurting Trents feelings...... I fully admit, even having seen all the same games and films you guys have I blindly hoped that Trent would put it all together and I fully support the move to put Fitz in.....
  22. Clausen hasnt done anything he's like 5-14 for 59 yards. They're as desperate as we are. The Bills arent the only ones to pass on Clausen many teams did.....imagine if we took him at 9? You think we're laughingstocks now? Trust me even if we hadn't picked CJ someone else would've long before Best. And most agree while being a "luxury" pick CJ is one of the best players in the draft. Btw the Clausen announcement came a couple hours before the Fitz announcement. I truly doubt one had anything to do with the other. I do think things are looking up for the Lions. I'd rather be 0-2 their way than ours. Best was a great pick for them. At least they're in games and fighting and erasing years of bad drafting much like we are or should I say want to be. Rome wasn't built in a day. Btw did anyone notice that Shaun Hill (who?) passed for a net 335 yards? A guy most barely know passed for 335 yards as a backup and had his team right there to win in the end. Yes he threw two picks. Hell I'd have taken those same two picks Sunday if it meant we took the Pack down to the wire even if we lost........
  23. I wouldnt blame it all on Trent and maybe Fitz will provide a "spark" and I hope he does however, I would caution all not to expect too much different of an outcome. The bottom line is he's no better than what everyone was clamoring for- a stop gap. He's no more the QB of the future as a FA journeyman would've been even if he manages to win a few games along the way. I was hoping (against hope) Trent would've pulled it all together so that at least we'd have been settled at the QB position next year and could concentrate on picking the best Tackle on the board......
