Yep. Also, maybe Diggs wanted what he got In Houston, a chance to be a free agent at the  end of the season. And just started turning a small issue into a giant issue.

It’s entirely possible this whole thing is Diggs just wanting to play with his brother before it’s too late. Maybe not.

    very possible

the bills gave diggs agent permission to seek a trade weeks ago.

diggs knew he was in play....hence his social media comment "ready for watever".

diggs agent knew that houston would give diggs what he really wanted....to be a free agent in 2025

what's surprising most to me....is houston gave up a very valuable minnesota 2nd round pick for a 1 yr rental

on the sports talk show SPEAK....shady mccoy said he was told by diggs brother, before it happened the stefon diggs was going to houston. the betting line on where diggs would start the season, shifted bigtime to houston on the saturday before the trade was announced. insider info spread quickly

I would find it absolutely shocking if beane wanted to aggressively tie himself to diggs even longer by creating more dead money with him after last years behavior all year and close to the season on field.

    makes almost no sense.

we didn’t even convert all of joshs salary either, as another indicator there was no need to restructure diggs again who is a much worse candidate than Josh for that

    couple things

#1- you do NOT need diggs permission to turn base salary into a guaranteed signing bonus pushing cap into the future. you just do it if you want.

#2-  you do need diggs permission if the restructure lowered the base salary and/or turned any of it into  incentives.

#3- it would not be surprising if diggs was approached for restructure of some kind. beane did that for almost the entire team.

#4- seeing as diggs was so unhappy and wanted out, it's not surprising he had no interest in a restructure.

#5- i highly doubt beane is confiding in anyone outside his most inner bills circle details like that. put me down as skeptical. someone making a possible guess as to what may or may not have been the final straw that broke the camels back.

This doesn't mean there weren't issues between them but I scrolled through Josh Allen's likes on Twitter and saw this from the Week 18 win in Miami. Whatever happened in the lockerroom after Week 1 probably wasn't notable to reporters at the time because by many accounts, they still seemed to be on the same page. Blowup happen even amongst friends and family.

Obviously, each individual moment doesn't tell the whole story, but I thought it was interesting to reflect on it nevertheless:

    PRO's : elite talent, passion

    CON's: selfish, constant distraction

the Buffalo Bills O-line coach's daughter immediately posted GOOD RIDDANCE......something is/was seriously wrong inside that locker room

Lol, this is just wrong. The stadium will be ONLY season tickets as it currently is. Now if you’re saying people will purchase tickets on the SECONDARY market at a higher percentage than they do now, that’s possible. The Bills entire stadium though will be sold with season tickets.

for 2023 there were just under 64,000 season tickets. the capacity is just over 70,000. they deliberately hold back some for individual sale.

i dont think the new stadium will be 100% season ticket (i could be wrong)

And each of those seasons exceeded anything Diggs did in Minnesota, a fact that the morons who say Diggs made Josh who he is conveniently forget. It was the opposite.

Josh is the best individual player in the league....i truly believe that.

unfortunately this is a TEAM game and josh doesn't have the best team or the best coaching supporting him.

as long as Josh is healthy, the Bills will be a Top team. we will have another WR1 soon enough

but you put a big hole at your WR1 position and a using $32 million against the cap this year for a 2nd round pick in next year's draft.

theres no sugar coating the negative short term 2024 hit that $32 in dead cap hurts.

but there's a big long term cap savings for 2025, 2026 & 2027  ...AND a bonus early 2nd round draft pick that can be used to replace him.

diggs didn't want to be here, the bills didn't want him....it had to be done. beane did well out of a bad situation

  7. there are 6-7 WR's with a first round grade in this draft

stay where you are at #28 (maybe use a 4th to move up a couple) and take a WR.

make a big move up in 2nd round (with a future 2nd or 3rd) and grab another WR.

i would hate to trade up in this years draft to Top 10......the price is just more than i want to pay.

  8. i think diggs will come to regret forcing his way out of buffalo.

4x pro bowler.....all and only with josh. the bills #1 target. beloved by most of the fan base.  he had it made here. elite QB,  a Top 5 team.

he has now been reduced to a 1 yr rental. if the texans had any intention of keeping him long term they wouldn't have made him a 2025 free agent.

he's on the wrong side of 30. unlikely he is #1 in targets for houston. his next stop will probably make less and win less.

    dare i say....what an idiot

  9. beane indicated, but did not divulge, there were more than one reason(s) for parting with diggs.

WHAT  CHANGED ?? diggs was a known diva before he got here.  they knew, like most wr1's he wanted alot of targets, they knew all his warts.

the unspoken final nail ? josh allen got tired of coddling him. that relationship soured. he gave his blessing to move on.

I guess I didn't read the fine print.  Not sure why the ticket rep that used to work for the Cowboys told my wife she could sell it and some of the ones in Dallas are going for $250,000.

#1- she can sell it (so thats true)...if she meets certain conditions....see the agreement "Transfers"

#2- there are PSL markets already for every other nfl team. it's a virtual certainty there will at some point, be one for bills PSL's. The bills are just saying, we have nothing to do with those aftermarkets.

#3- Dallas PSL's do sell for more than the initial fee (so thats true). but they are more the exception than the rule. check on the browns & jets for a more likely outcome that can be expected for the bills PSL's.

#4- the important thing to the bills is that whoever you transfer the PSL to.....signs a newly created iron clad PSL  agreement between the bills and the new Licensee.

  11. diggs only had that $3.5 mil in guaranteed money after this season anyways. last part of the $70 mil guaranteed money.

it cost the texans nothing more than they were obligated to do......just gave him the money they owed sooner.

to me, this signals he is an expensive (early 2nd round pick)   1 yr rental. he's moving on to a different team for 2025

the big question is wether he will do better than the $19 mil/yr AAV he already had in his current contract.

texans are correct that diggs should be completely happy knowing he controls his future. all thats left is for him to have a monster year.

Who is his agent holy moly.  Got Diggs and his impossible to trade contract traded to his preferred destination, got him more guaranteed $$ for 2024, and got him the opportunity to get himself a new deal in 2025.

That is superb representation right there.

    Wow.

only if his new deal is for more than $19mil/yr

  13. the bills will absolutely replace diggs. we will have another WR1 to get excited about.

vegas says the bills are a Top 5 team.....and likely to remain that way as long as Josh is healthy.

COACHING is what's holding this team back.

McClappity isnt even smart enough to run 13 seconds off the clock to close out a game.

Squibb the kickoff (run 3 seconds off clock)

1st down - instead of laying 15 yards off kelce and tyreek....you do the exact opposite. get up on the line and deliberately mug them. commit a 5 yard penalty (run another 2-3 seconds off clock)

1st down (2nd play) - repeat penalty (run more time off)

1st Down (3rd play) - do it again

1st Down (likely final play - defend a hail mary

  14. another way to look at diggs  cap history with bills

bills got 4 years of elite level play out of diggs for an ave cap hit of $19.7 mil/yr

fair value for both team and player.

he's simply not worth the higher cap hits going forward.

    2020- $14.8

    2021- $ 6.4

    2022-$11.7

    2023- $14.9

    2024- $31.0

    TOTAL- $78.8

    4yr/ave $19.7

Diggs will be productive in Hou.  Curious how his target share will look.  Averaging 160 targets over 4 years is an incredible amount.  Even the games he did not produce he had his targets.   Imo Allen will benefit from being the guy on offense.  Every skill player in the draft will be over the moon to play with Allen.   Hit the open guy, win and move on.  Everything else is just noise.

i'm guessing they play him in the slot.....absolutely perfect for his elite route running

    I would do this trade.

    NO  WAY

     two 1st's, one early 2nd & two 4th's ?? for one early 1st ??

draft history bills last two years 2nd round picks:

    2023 - Torrence

    2022 - Cook

while the thought of a top ten pick is enchanting.....i'd rather take my chances and keep the picks i have

It's interesting.  Cosell was very clear and concise; he thinks Diggs is on the decline, he thinks Diggs isn't a "true #1", he's good but not elite.

I don't think the Bills paid Cosell off for that opinion because 1) I think Cosell cares about his cred more than $ 2) he's said similar things before.

On the other hand, we have this:

where they clearly slot Diggs in ahead of Nico Collins as a #1 WR

    and then this:

where the guys are all talking about Diggs as a "freakazoid" talent, and referring to Collins as not a true #1.  (they said every team has about 3 freakazoids, and if you don't have enough freakazoids, you're gonna lose.  they said SF has 6 or 7)

"I am only an egg" relative to these guys, but what I saw of Nico Collins last year I really liked, and his Y/Tgt last season, 12, argues more boundary guy.

McCoy and all know ball, but Cosell knows his tape, so I don't know.  Maybe the former ballers have a bit of "halo effect" based on the Diggs of 2 years ago whereas Cosell is meticulously focused on what he sees?

By the way McCoy and others (Emmanuel Acho I think? not sure who is the 3rd guy) were very clear with the woman host (Joy Taylor?) that Josh Allen's relationship with Stefon Diggs is "bad".  She didn't want to theorize what it's like other than what we see, but they were very definite.

interesting that shady reveals diggs brother, told shady before it happened, that stefon was getting traded to houston.

easy money in vegas for insiders.

Well, the wife and I, after she attended a call with the Bills ticket rep yesterday, have decided to pass.

She has been a season ticket holder since 1987.  When they remodeled her seats went away so she upgraded to club seats in 1999. she moved to Dallas which is where I met her and why I have been a Bills fan since 1996. She kept her tickets and we would fly in for a couple of games a year. She sold (took a bath during the drought) the others.  When they were raising money by selling Engraved paver stones at The Ralph located by the Bills store we bought one in honor of our son who was a huge Bills fan who is no longer with us.

We could certainly afford it but it just feels like we've been super loyal to the Bills For 37 years.  Now they are telling us to bend over and drop our wallet or go away.   Loyalty is a 2 way street.

We decided to paint our house and put in central AC and still have money left over to some games on the resale market.

We will go to as many games the next 2 years as we can. Then we'll watch 'em on TV and try to go to one every year.

I know it's all bidness and this is how the NFL works blah blah blah, but it's still gross for a person who has been a loyal fan and put their money where their mouth is for so long mostly with poor results.

And the BS of PSL as an investment. Give me A break. The ticket rep who used to work for the Cowboys told her some of the ones in Dallas go for $250,000.  Oh OK LOL.

Terry is 188th richest American and the 12th highest net worth of NFL owners.  Surely there is some other way he could raise the cash.

NFL and Terry, please don't tell us you love the fans.

It's like I heard Steve Young say a few years ago, when you have a product with a non elastic demand, you can do whatever you want.

"And the BS of PSL as an investment. Give me A break. The ticket rep who used to work for the Cowboys told her some of the ones in Dallas go for $250,000.  Oh OK LOL."

in the PSL agreement it clearly states in SEC 4e "Transfers": The Licensee acknowledges that(i) there is currently no market and no guarantee that there will ever be a market for resale of PSL's. (ii) none of Licensor, ECSC, PSL Agent or TeamCo., or their agents has represented that there will be a market for PSL's, (iii) none of Licensor, ECSC, PSL Agent or TeamCo. or any other person is under any obligation to create or cause to be created such a market and (iv) Licensee shall have no claim against Indemnitees for any purported loss of value of the PSL(s) or inability to transfer or sell a PSL for a desired price or any price at all.

All the people saying “a 2nd round pick next year is only valued at a 3rd” will be thanking the heavens when the Vikings draft top 5 next year.

A 2nd round pick is a 2nd round pick. Have a little patience.

the 40th overall pick in 2024 is worth exactly the same as the 40th overall pick in 2025.

for those who disagree, i will trade you my 2024 fourth round pick for your 2025 third round pick. in fact, we can do this every year if you like.

while were at it, i will trade you my 2024 second round pick for your 2025 first round pick.......every year if you like.
