Instead of playing 12 personnel, why not put the TE that can’t catch on the bench where he belongs? Get another WR on the field or even idk the FB that we carry 🤷‍♂️Instead of forcing Knox in like he’s a starter, how about we realize 5 years after the fact that he just isnt good.

Then how are they going to keep 7 guys in to block?

Went to my DVR after the game and watched it. It was very, very close. Not sure how they picked up a flag though without stopping for an actual video review. Only thing I figure is that the refs at NFL HQ in NY reviewed it, then called down to the crew on the field and told them it was too close to call....but is that even allowed to happen? I know in some previous games, announcers have alluded to the fact that "the NFL guys in NY looked at it" when the situation was the same...no stoppage in play was done for the refs on the field to go look at it. Oh well, SCREWED AGAIN! LOL

It would have been a very close, ticky tack call that had absolutely nothing to do with the play. Is that what we’re crying about now? How about making a tackle?

In that game we punted 1 time turned over the ball on downs 1 time and had 1 INT. The Patriots punted 2 times and had a fumble, we also technically had a fumble but I really don't care about a last 5 seconds YOLO play.

Other than that we ended every drive kicking FGs or with TDs, and honestly while it might have been much we might have been in FG range on the turnover on downs.

They had 3 points at halftime. So the D is playing from behind the entire game.

He was okay in the 1st half.  The D created only one 3 & out and allowed the Pats to flip the field with a non scoring but time consuming 2nd quarter drive.

But the point is that EVERY elite QB and their offense will have an off half.  The truly elite like Allen followup a lackluster 1st half with a phenomenal 2nd half and Allen did exactly that.

Twice in the 2nd half the D was beyond inept:

    *  After the Bills scored a TD in the 3rd quarter to cut the NE lead to 3 the Bills D should have risen up and snuffed the Pats offense out.  Instead they allowed them to go on a 6 minute plus FG drive.  Then when the Bills finally took a 3 point lead at the 2 minute mark the D didn't just allow NE to go on a drive to tie the game and force OT they allowed them to score the winning TD.  That is unacceptable given how Bean/McD have structured the Bills.

Ok, but the D has 4 key starters out; 5, if you count Miller. It would be nice if they could rely on the offense to help them a little. Especially since it’s supposed to be one of the best in the league led by an “elite” QB. Instead they come out flat as a pancake and force the team to play from behind all day. Do you think Jones would look a little different if he was playing from behind?

I do think they didn’t get the call because they had their hands on eachother and they just got a 50/50 pi on the previous play

This was more even. Bernard was all over the guy on the previous play. Totally PI on the previous one.

  6. It’s not the end of the world, but ideally he’d be blocking on running plays. Obviously if the play is wide to his side, but also for plays to the middle or even the other side of the field. He should be looking for a deep safety or other downfield player in case the run breaks. WRs blocking downfield are often the difference between a long run and a long TD.

  7. I assume this question is coming from musing about how the Bills D might play Miami and Tyreek Hill. Yes, NFL defenses will sometimes lock a premier CB (say Darell Revis) on the opponent’s best WR and play man /zone with the rest depending on the call. But who could the Bills possibly put on Hill that would have any hope of staying with him 1v1? Honestly, that goes for Waddle as well.

Belichick, as mentioned above, is well know for putting his best CB on the opponent’s second best WR and then bracketing the best one with two players. But the bills have never done this, as far as I’m aware, so I’d be expecting a variety of zones on Sunday.

I was literally and figuratively shocked at how Josh fell apart in the 2nd half Monday night.  It was completely unexpected, and I’m trying to wrap my head around whether Josh “gets it” that he needs to keep himself focused and on script when playing top defenses.  He says all the right things but he has to show it on the field.

I’m going to predict right now that Josh has a huge bounce-back game.  No turnovers and something like 70% completion rate.  I also think the ground game is going to show up big time.

    What say you all?

Josh Allen is in his 7th NFL season and he still has people telling him to play smarter football.  Coaches, the GM, coordinators, and players are all taking to him yet he continues to make the same mistakes that high school QBs make.

Troy Aikman was actually trying to be nice but at the same time he was shocked at the mistakes Josh was making.  It really was like watching a rookie on MNF.

Sunday will be a big game for Josh to start the process of putting this one behind him.  One game at a time, he needs to simplify his game and get on track.  I am pulling for him but actually I am quite shocked at the regression.

I was thinking the same thing. Aikman has been an Allen critic and I was waiting for him to unleash, or at least throw an "I told you so" out there, but he was actually pretty nice about it. I don't think he wanted to pile on since the performance basically spoke for itself.

Agreed. It's more of an issue on the run where he got the first down and passed up ducking out of bound in order to plow into a few guys. Regardless of injury, it also increases the chances of someone popping the ball out.

The 'not getting the ball out in the first place' is the true problem. I don't think he and/or Dorsey are putting in the necessary effort for him to make the decisions in the time allowed. And last night he did have more time than he assumed.

He was basically one read and run if it's not there most of the night. One of the hardest parts of having good pocket awareness is being able to stand in the pocket when you have time even though you've been rushed on many other downs.
